While it's beautiful to behold, Cloudphobia is really bleak in tone, and the final episode is really bleak with its blasted cityscape and soundtrack of piano chords and screams.

I also nominate Hellsinker for its ancient and decaying robot monster bosses powered by ghosts.

Same. I play CRS when I need to get a smile on my face. It'll cheer anyone up, until they die, over and over.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I don't see how some here can call Einhander "dark". I don't disrespect your point of view, it's just that to me it looks industrial, cold, muted, mechanic... yes. But dark? Most enemies have bright paintjobs (Polizei, Drache, Gecko, Gustav and Salamander), and the environments beyond stage 2 are very well-lit.

Oh well.

Another vote for X-multiply. It creeped the hell out of me the first time I saw it.

Also, I wonder why only one mention for BioHazard Battle for the Genesis. The music is creepy, most of the enemies are kind of disgusting, the environments are oppressive and you get the feeling that a whole living planet is ready to digest your ship given half the chance.

Rayforce, dark?
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

Yeah, Einhander doesn't looked too dark, especially when that techno musics lits
BioHazard Battle : is it a shump?
Rayforce : A bit dark after, let's say the crab boss (stage 4) (I think)
