If you are having trouble with fire fossil, it's probaly becuse you are fighting B version. A version makes the same huge tactical error that Queen Fossil A does (meaning you get to use a quadruple counter beam on it!)

Dodonpachi, level 2's boss. God, blue/pink bullet spraying is annoying as hell.

just started playing ddp myself and those damn blue and pink sprays are indeed infuriating. i'm quite partial to bombing the git at the min as i'm nowhere near the level to start playing for score. plus if you bomb at the correct time you can get a hell of a lot of big ass stars. sweet :)

Desert Boss in TF4 - A complete bastard in maniac mode. So unpredictable, always manages to shoot me point blank or crushes me by moving backward.

Level 3 boss in Raiden - actually not the boss itself, but the helicopters and the tanks that support it. This passage is much harder than the following bosses IMO.

Level 4 boss in Gradius Gaiden - not so hard to handle, but it's takes so much time to kill that at one point or another I HAVE to make a mistake. I hate those moments when shmups are a matter of stamina more than skills (even if I love the Toaplan "school" to bits).

Radiant Silvergun, Saturn Mode, Stage 5B. The whole stage is a boss really, but the specific part I had trouble with was the bit where you're forced into a narrow corridor going upward and the laser beams cut across from the sides randomly. This is the bugger that prevented me from 1-crediting Saturn mode back when I was trying. I found no consistent way to get through the corridor unscathed.

Especially when you get stuck with it at level 1-3. (At level 1-1 it's completely straightforward.) Tonight I had all my lives still when I got to this boss at level 3, and I didn't even make it to the second form of the boss. That completely sucked. I can't imagine what this boss is like in the second loop.

A total nightmare. At full rank on the second round it's insane.

The first time I ever seen RS I saw this dude beating the game at a Japanese arcade. I remember this part because he was just dodging everything.

Certainly not even CLOSE to the hardest boss I've fought, but holds a special place in my "HATRED FUCKING DIE BASTARD!" list of bosses. The Guardian in Mars Matrix chapter 6. I had the whole game down, including the form after the guardian, the tree of life after that, and the big crystal (which is of course free win), but the guardian was a BIG wall for my 1cc. I still hate that thing with a passion, even though I know how to deal with it now.

I hate that thing in Ikaruga on stage 3 before the main boss. Oh man that thing blows. The alternating laser colors with alternating bullet colors. wtf every time.

This one's mine- it's really just unimaginably difficult.

Almost all of Ibaras bosses should be added to this list - the stage 3 and 5 are just ridiculous sometimes.

I hate any of Garegga's bosses. They're damn crap if you don't want to learn difficult tactics hour for hour before playing it >_<

Also, Batsuguns 4th boss with the spinning bullet grid. I still hate it though I'm slowly becoming used to it(no miss possible).

Can't you fly onto of the rotating turret for Jupiter?

Space Bomber's final boss is kicking my arse oh shit.

On 6-2 it summons a bunch of Unmos, and most of their bullets are aimed nonlethal, but they had to through in an aimed lethal in there just to throw you off. >_>

Kind of surprised so many people mention the "head" boss after Hibachi in Dodonpachi. Honestly didn't think there were so many potential 2 loop ALL players in the west.

I believe most of them (like me) played the Saturn Version which includes a new mode ("saturn mode" ^^) that allows you to beat Hibachi after the 1st loop (plus infinite continues and an extra stage before stage 1. And its much easier as well).

The infamous "Heaven's Gate" from the second loop of Gradius Gaiden. that thing is quite possibly the culmination of how purely evil that these Core bosses can be. (as if all the bosses in that rush aren't pains.)

Yeah, when he does the flamethrower. :?

Lets see other bosses I hate:

DoDonPachi Stage 2 boss: When you knock out all those small crap from both sides to get six 10,000 point stars max. After that when it has little life left, the fast bullet attack is a huge bitch.

Battle Garegga Stage 3 boss: When you destory those missle launchers and the boss attacks with all those fast fucking bullets.

Strikers 1945 II blimp boss: Fighting him in 1-3 and 1-4 always make you lose a life.

Strikers 1945 Sky boss: When launching its bullet spread attack in 1-3 and 1-4.

Too much to list really.
