How much are Unibios mods now??

JPJ,

I didnt realise AES consoles wre as cheap as that in the UK.

I could be tempted to jump on teh AES bandwagon if they are that cheap.
I'd be very selective about games bought (Early cheap stuff mostly ;)) as I cant afford the really good stuff but I've always wanted one & if I can score one for that sort of cash then I may well jump in as well.

I would deffinitley need the Unibios though...I cant live without Teh Boobs 'n Blood either ;) lol

if it's a jap machine mate, you wont need a unibios for blood and bouncy breasts :) that stuff is only censored out on US/euro machines. the trouble is, a lot of machines on ebay will be job lots, and buy it now. but you'll often see boxed jap neo + 10 games etc, £150-170 BIN. keep your eyes on the bay.. :)

I've been away from browsing Neo Stuff for a LONG time.
I didint realise there were such cheapness to be had...10 games & the most advanced console of it's time for sub £200 is freaking awesome!!

Think I will be using my current PS3 fund for something far more exciting now then ;) lol

dude, get an mvs and supergun, you could pick up some cheap cave stuff then too, or other PCB's. much more sense. I know you've been wanting something similar for a long time.

Thats the other option...espeically with Fire-bugs awesome looking guns for less than £100 in the sales thread, cheap 1 slot & I'm away really.

Hmmm I think a bit of budgeting is required tonight & tomorrow & see what I can afford.

I almost got one in 1992... I think, back when family members would buy me basically any console I asked for. Spoiled brat.

Same here!!

I got a Neo Geo AES + Magician Lord (don't ask me why!) right when it came out in Europe. I could only afford that game but after few months a guy from my hometown got rid of all his games so I could get some nice fighting cartridges for cheap. Sold the thing and regretted it many times. My only complain besides the price was the controller's buttons. Just terrible!!

The thing is I saw Last Resort for 11.000 yen the other day at one of Trader's shops in Akihabara and even though I don't have the console yet I couldn't resist and bought it... I know what you are tinking... you are welcome to call me names! 8) Before I purchase the damn console for the second time I wanted to ask a few questions.

What would you say is a reasonable price for a Jap AES? Found some boxes (not to good shape) with the console + controller and cables for 12.000 yen.

Is there another controller (arcade stick type) available for the Neo Geo or adapter to use a HARP?

How much is the RGB cable? Is it difficult to find? Wouldn't this cable + XRGB-3 give a more than pleasant image quality? Is the image that bad? For what I remember the image wasn't that awful... well, it's been a long time since I last played on a Neo Geo.

KindGrind, are you Spanish?

I have a modded Jap AES system with stereo sound, S-video, composite, and unibios v2.3 chip and blue led light. I had it modded by http://www.oldschoolgamer.ca/
I have a Neo joypad as well as the updated Neo Joystick.

I love the system and everything but the games are so much money !
So far I have 5 games:
- Strikers 1945+ conversion
- Blazing Star Conversion
- Aero Fighters 2
- Ghost Pilots
- King of Fighters 1997

The next games Im buying are Sonic Wings 3 and Last Resort.

Im debating whether I should sell this and buy a supergun .
I doubt I'll sell it though. :)

Here's a pic of my setup

BTW, I no longer have the NES or SNES, and my PS2 is modded too with Matrix Infinity chip :)

if you are gonna fork out the cash to collect the rarer AES titles you might as well spend the $200 and get yourself a supergun from fire-bug and grab ibara or an older cave title and step your game up

PCB's are where its at!

Some folks have gone down that route and there are others that intend to keep their expensive arcade PCB gear and never sell it. Some folks have very deep monetary pockets so they can afford anything their heart desires. And there are those who work damn hard to earn their keep and it is a pleasure to chill out with playing with arcade PCBs at their leisure. The arcade PCB hobby, in general, isn't a cheap hobby to begin with...that's a given. ^_~

KindGrind wrote:Thing is, I have very little room. I mean, the cab seems to be out of the question for my g/f. As long as all my stuff stays in one place she doesn't mind but she sees the cab as an enemy or something, which is why I wanted a TVish solution. The supergun idea isn't very tempting for me, because as D pointed out, I don't want a ghetto-looking setup either. The MVS - AES adapter seems interesting, though, although the only ones I've seen in the past weren't exactly cheap at 250-300$ or so.

Girlfriends and Neo Geo cabs...both are a HUGE investment, they both take up much space and time. They're both fun for quite a while, but then you will soon realize that your finances are suffering from them. When its all said and done, you will get more satisfaction from your Neo cab.
And guess what, it will never, ever bitch/ moan / or complain like she will.

If your girlfriend is as big as a neo geo cab you're doing it wrong.

Just buy a supergun + MVS slot + one [108 in 1] MVS cart and you are all set.
