Well...that is not happening any time soon for me (still stuck at stage 4 orig). Guess we are going to be at the machine all night.Necronopticous wrote:Once everyone hits the second extend @ 250,000,000 in Maniac we can start discussing the prospect of playing something else.

I had a hell of a time getting out, first with the traffic leaving LA and then trying to park at that zoo. Finally got in to AI at about 8:40. Played some Raiden IV and Mushi; never saw another soul near those games. Guess everyone had already bugged out...?

Was probably while we were eating at the pho noodle soup place downstairs. Met up with Necronopticous & a friend of his, Frenetic, and an unexpected shmup forum member who's name I didn't catch (due to the intense noise in there lol). I left close to 9:45ish or so since my friends who came with were out of tokens and bored. We did make a joke that someone would show up while we were away, too bad it seemed to be no jokebigbadboaz wrote:I had a hell of a time getting out, first with the traffic leaving LA and then trying to park at that zoo. Phil ver0 was out there too, it was really fun watching him play Palm. We really didn't know if he was on the forum so we asked him. Would have been cool to talk to him a bit more but he was playing DDR and we didn't want to interrupt his game before heading down to pho. Was cool to exchange a few words with him before he left, cool guy.
Kiel were you there? bigbadboaz sucks we couldn't meet up with you, i know it must have been hard to get out there. you know what next time i'll give out my cell phone number to everyone who is planning to go to the shmupmeet and then when they get there they can give me call and then we can all get together without any confusion.
there were some people playing raiden iv or mushi but i was unsure whether or not they came for the meet ("oh hey are you on the shmups forums?" - "uh wtf freak getaway nao") lol.

Hey, man. I'm sorry we missed you. We had just gone to get some dinner around that time. Really bad timing.bigbadboaz wrote:I had a hell of a time getting out, first with the traffic leaving LA and then trying to park at that zoo. Finally got in to AI at about 8:40. I ended up staying until close to midnight, myself. I had a good time--it was really cool meeting everyone.
I was pretty stoked to hit the Maniac 1CC. It's not something I can do super frequently. Larsa is rough.

Kiel, shariar07, did you guys make it to the meet?
We had a pretty good turnout and it was really fun. i got some tips how to better my play, really awesome.
Necronopticous + 1 friend
Frenetic (Me)
Shuurin +2 friends
Phil ver0 (kinda, didn't know about the meet but just came to the arcade, so random!)
bigbadboaz (sorry we missed you dude, hopefully you can make it out to the next shmupmeet)
AKRATEN and many friends (i got introduced to some but it's crazy loud in Arcade Infinity so I just kinda nodded my head, was thinking maybe i was going to talk to them outside but that never came around sadly)
did i miss anyone?

Ack, that sucks. At the time I figured nobody turned out and the few who did had already left. Glad you guys had a great time.
I seem to have really bad luck with anything involving Arcade Infinity. I didn't even end up finding a parking space; had to park in this really sketchy neighborhood blocks away and walk over. I'd never been there at night and had no idea that plaza was so popular.
Anybody on here also in the LA area?

Yeah I was there, tall guy with the pac man hat. I know for sure that I met Necro. Man that place was a little overwhelming, I wish I had kept up on my BlazBlue game so I could have played the new version. It was bad enough getting beat by some girl using Bridget in Guilty Gear

I get dragged to AI about two to three times a week because I'm the only person out of my friends with a car. Oh yeah, I got the net again, so I can check these forums now.

BTW, just wanted to give everyone a heads up, someone is selling a broken-ish Astro City in Riverside for $125 and they probably could be bargained. It was posted a week ago so maybe it hasn't sold yet. I don't have room for it or else I'd get it. Maybe someone can repair it?

Here is another nuts offer for pickup in Rancho Cucamonga - $250!

I have the room for one (if I store it in the garage or guest bedroom, lol), but nothing to haul that sucker back to my house. But the cost to fix it up and get a pcb is probably going to break my bank atm. I can dream of owning one of those some day down the road.

Anyone going to SC3 aka Southern California Classic Collectors meet in Claremont?
http://www.sc3videogames.com/ I'm working this Saturday, but am getting off work at 6pm and thinking about heading up there. Anyone want to carpool? Post here so we can get a headcount and then I'll shoot you a PM to work out details.

Re: SoCal gaming interest check
Hey guys I'm new around here and kinda don't post as often as I just go around lurking through posts. But I will be down to meet up any day of the week at AI for some shmup goodness. I'm usually there randomly during the week playing Melty Blood but if anyone wants to meet up any day please let me know. Also if there are meet ups at anyones place please let me know as well. Also I have place at my house so if any of you wanna bring set ups please let me know as well as what days are good and we can play. Also I am in LA right next to Cal State LA in the border of Alhambra and East LA.
