hey it looks like gradius v

seriously, a ps3 release would have been even better given the fact its a 3d game (imagine high res tf, yes i know but..) it would have given the tf series a good popularity boost, now as its only being released on ps2 and i guess a jp only release, it will be sadly another niche shmup at the end of a dying system.

screw it if it makes it here or not... honestly does anyone really rely on domestic releases for games here? if so there is SOOO much you're missing out on.

i mean a domestic release would be a good thing to but who cares... we are getting TF6.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Answers one question, now what about K Matsuoka on the copyright?

PS2 is dying? It's still got at least another 5 years left in it. Look at the Dreamcast's longevity through niche games. Look at the amount of significant games still being released for PS2 like Persona 4, various fighting games like Arcana Heart, etc. It will be a long, long road to the end of the PS2.

...

I think two drops of pee leaked out of me.

It makes sense in a strange way that it would be Sega bringing this out. They did bring TF4 to The States as Lightening Force way back when. Prehaps this'll become Lightening Force II in the US, though I hope it keeps it's true name (assuming it gets released here).

THUNDERFORCE VI IS RE- Oh, it's got that Free-Range weapon.
...THUNDERFORCE VI IS REALLY REAL! BAH GAW!

And I'm spent. My week's been made by the announcement alone.
Xexyz wrote:If this does eventually get a North American release, I wouldn't be surprised if Sega did it themselves. Although, a budget publisher like UFO Interactive would be more believable.
Perhaps Aksys Games would like a shot? They have expressed interest in Shmups.

Thunder Force V was released in The States by Working Designs so I'd think they'd want to keep with the Thunder Force name since it's so well established.

Question! Is the developer SEGA or are they just the publisher or is it joint-development?

Who's making it:

- The director of Thunderforce VI is Tetsu Okada (Tez Okada)
- He is the director and writer of SGGG, Astro Boy GBA and Gunstar Super Heroes
- Both Astro Boy GBA and GSH are developed by Treasure and published by Sega
I guess this guy tries to incorporate some shmup action in every game he directs.
It is powerup of laser.

It's real, alright. Play-Asia is already taking pre-orders.

I really hope we get to see this in the states. I've been waiting for a new TF for too damn long. It's almost like a dream come true. Long live Tecno Soft!

Good, but the biggest question of all:

Is Hyakutaro Tsukumo doing the soundtrack of TFVI (didn't see him doing any new stuff lately except Beat Blades Haruka (Doujin) with Toshiharu Yamanishi/Funky Surounin, so perhaps he was composing TFVI during the last couple of months)?

Let's see.

SEGA has no internal development team. IP owner sat on IP forever. IP owner leases IP to SEGA who hire's guy who has worked with Treasure.

Thunder Force VI is being worked on capable people who are big Thunder Force fans.

That's a good question. It just wouldn't be TF without the music of Tsukumo.

but why ps2?

a lot of people i know don't even have ps2 anymore. none of them would be hyped for a new thunderforce though i don't think.

i'll seriously pass this if theres no domestic release. last thing i need is another playstation.

Take that Xbox 360 and PS3.

It's about time a new game rolled into the spotlight that I could potentially use on a system I own!

Sounds good so far, over the next few months more reports and possible website updates should roll out either by way of the TechnoSoft website and or Sega's own.

Also... Rynex is back! Awesome. (pictured anyway)

Next pay day, this sonbitch is po'ed.

HOLY FUCKING JESUS CHRIST SHIT. OH MY GOD!

I've been out because of work, and look what happens.

This is the news of the decade. That Tecnosoft site update wasn't for nothing... they told us to wait for a while, they would be back.... eleven years isn't exactly "a while", but FUCKING YEAH!

Remind me again why you don't have an NTSC-J compatible PS2?

I've told you before?

Really though, because Kiki Kai Kai was cancelled. (afaik. tell me it wasn't and I'll buy that shit today though)

I dig this, but I'm not really into getting consoles for just 1 game anymore. I have too much junk around as it is.

Hmm, this would be nice on PSP. If it ends up good.

For awhile now, I had imagined TF being resurrected by some other company, though I imagined it to be G.Rev.

The Kiki Kaikai remake was converted into Heavenly Guardian... which is available in the US.

I was refering more to the fact that the JPS2 has a massive collection of shmups (and I'm not even considering BC to PS1).

Glad that its coming to the PS2. I'm so sick of this 360 region lock bullshit.

yeah i don't see how you can be a shooter fan without PS2 import play ability. i mean i can see how you could be... just not a happy one.

either way.... I am SOOOOOO fucking happy.

It says that the main ship is Phoenix, which is the evolutionary model of the Brigandine from TFV. It has Hunter, Free-range, etc. Basically all the weapons from TFV. The ship starts equipped with 5 weapons and you don't lose then when you blow up. You pick up green energy globes dropped by enemies to fill the Over Guage at the bottom left to use Over Weapon attacks. Rynex-Kai is also a playable unit, but it is considered a hidden unit and there won't be details at this time.
(Partial article translation posted on another forum)

"Phoenix" is such a perfectly appropriate name for Thunderforce VI's ship. :)

^^^ Damn, you beat me to it. I see an Iron Maiden, Gargoyle from TF3 and the multi-laser that the Brigandine used in TFV.

Please don't let it suck like Broken Thunder did.

I guess I can die happy now, even without playing it.

You may be right. They aren't spending all their budget on cinemas, like BT.
