Really? I'm interested in it, to be sure, but as a die-hard fan of the series I can't help but feel that Bethesda is forsaking everything that Fallout stands for.
I guess that could be a bit of worry. But in Fallout 2, all I really did was kill everything. It was fun starting a character with no smarts to see how people talked to you, but I don't think you could finish the game that way.

I hope they don't make Fallout 3 as monotonous as Oblivion. As long as the core stays, I'm happy with the way the graphics are headed ( I guess that's a better way of stating it ).

Gauntlet if gauntlet was awesome and had a slot machine..

It does make me sad those people don't understand there's a contrast and brightness slider in the game; Diablo had a room with puce walls and cyan floors..

I really like that they're removing assignable attribute points and attribute requirements on items; some reasonable balance could be achieved this time with a normalized baseline of health, instead of this everything into Vitality business..

There's a difference between repetitive, and monotonously repetitive.

Oh my god, he tore that book's spine out.

Archivist will certainly be a challenge to play. Love the undead sheeple noises.

Either I'm stupid or that webpage hates Opera. The lowest birth year I could select is 2002 (but I did not try very hard to explore the UI - but I shouldn't need to look hard if the UI is well-designed), so I am not old enough to see the video and now there must be a cookie on my system and I can't be arsed to find and delete it :P

Just had a look around the updated website. I don't understand all the crying about the graphics, they seem like a continuation of the established Diablo style.

Going to have to play a Witch Doctor when this finally comes out.

If they keep him, they seriously had better get to work on the gameplay, unless it's just a joke "one hit and yer dead, including from randomly falling debris shook loose by your own attacks" super-hardcore mode.

Cool, I've been waiting for this news. The official site is down at the moment, they're likely adding the new page about the class. I'm eager to see his abilities.

Somewhat disappointed in Chuck Norris.

Just not a fan of characters with narrow theming. The pretty colors a wizard can throw out is a high bar to meet. If he can throw arrows (cats) at people though, I am totally sold.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Diablo III. Just imagine, a isometric to panoramic-mapping 3D mode that doesn't involve Glide! I'm sold.

Visually the Monk's abilities actually look quite impressive in the gameplay video - they are doing their best to make him as interesting as the others. Also take a look at the mini-vid in the link Ruldra provided, shows 5 neat skills.

Monk seems to be based on speed and combos, like the assassin. I'm probably sticking with Barbarian, as I love playing tank characters.

By the way, the 5th class will definitely be a bow & arrow user. I'm betting on a ranger.

Barring the unlikely scenario of class#5 being another type of summoner, i'll favor a Witch Doctor.

5th class most agree about being a ranged bow/arrow user, but the way they've unveiled classes that would be a little anticlimactic/boring. Makes me wonder if they've intentionally saved the best for last... Maybe they'll just have a very interesting twist on the bow/arrow archetype.

I have a bad feeling that they're going to take Cloudkill off the wizard. This has traumatized me to no end.

Maybe I'm just a bad person who doesn't deserve to melt monsters into goo.

I've been rolling on the coaster of love/hate whenever I see something new about D3. I'm firmly on the side of the Rainbow&Pony haters. (Oh gawd!....I JUST realized what the hell we are setting ourselves up for regarding the "secret level/char" this time around! So when we do get the not-so-secret 'Rainbow Pwny!' level, you can say I told you so here first.)

Back to the game though. The art that has been posted has overall been very dark, sharp and brutal. It's got that classic Warhammer sense of *evil* without feeling too much like a ripoff. I've been disappointed however, that WOW has had far too much influence on the actual in-game design and looks however. Case in Point: The Monk's introduction video at BlizzCon. I saw that and just about puked at the sheer CRAP that piece vomited on the screen. Not so much the Monk himself, overall the design was ok, a bit derivative overall but still ok, but more for the complete lack of originality or sanity in the 'story' and enemies. The cloaked wanderer? Wore out the welcome in D2. The 'trap'? Pure unrelenting Cliche. The Attacking enemies? I got some really bad WOW vibes from those guys. (The Warlock from the comic LookingForGroup mostly....but still.) Oh and the unmasking of the cloaked guy? I just about wanted to poke my eyes out with a spork.

It was like watching some Michael Bay piece of fanboy masturbation.

The more I think about the previous Diablo games, the more I miss the atmosphere in the first one. Part hopeless, part futility and mixes of pyhrric victory.

I think the defining change between the first and the second wasn't the size or mechanics but it was about how you percieved being a 'hero'. To render everything down a bit simplisticly, in the first game you were a 'hero' and in the second game you were *told* that you were a hero. And that difference between being the character who becomes something more versus one who is expected to do it automatically is at the heart of what makes that first game so different compared from the second.

It's that Occam's Razor between becoming a hero and already being a hero that does the second game so much disservice. It's also what will either make or 'meh' the third game in the series I believe. (Well, in my mind if no one elses...)

Hey hey hey, class annoucement on the 22nd. And in the meantime, some new in-game armor sets of the characters twice a week.

Are we still kind of excited on this one, or have we all got moody and burned out when we realized how feeble that Chain Lightning + Hydra Sorceress we made for the new ladder really is in the grand scheme of things?

I haven't been following much, having too much fun with Starcraft II. Though to be honest I have barely played it. I watched many replays though! Amazing stuff, the wacky things these pros come up with.

I'm not saying that if you buy Diablo 3, that you're like Hitler.

I'm saying you're like a soldier that gives pieces of flair to Jews and homosexuals to later be liquefied into soap on the orders of your superiors.
