i wouldnt go up to a japanese person, and go "oi, jap" at them, same as i wouldnt go up to a british person and go "oi, brit" at them, just because its basically rude, not rascist. id say it is a different matter to refer to the japanese as a nation as "the japs" in a non-formal conversation or web-discussion, though.

If this is supposedly the best the japanese can come up with thus far stylistically, then i'd rather they leave it to the americans to work it out.

Not even going to bother.

Nobody thought the intentions were racist... but that doesn't make them sound any less so. The term was used in a derogatory manner for decades. Brits was not (or at least was not popularized as such).

Yeah, that was an evil poster back in the day. Made me think Goro would actually be playable in the home versions.

Yep, the "Prepare Yourself" at the end of the SF4 trailer immediately brought that poster to mind. Sept. 1993...I was in Jr. High at the time. 14 years ago. Scary to think that there are prob kids on this forum who were born that year.

He was playable in one home version of Mortal Kombat, but the less said about that version, the better.

Yeah, remove a popular character to allow a boss character to be playable. Brilliant...

It has been confirmed that Capcom Japan is making this. And this is why I think it will be either 2 or 2.5D.

The chances of it having 3D backgrounds are unfortunately high. Capcom does such a shitty job of them, too. At least in the couple of games I've looked at.

They should look at some of SNK's games. The 3D backgrounds in the re-releases of the KoF games on the Dreamcast had 3D backgrounds that still looked very much like traditional SNK sprite backgrounds.

Capcom Japan! My prayers have been answered. Thanks for the best news since....SFIV :D I'm so happy :D
So this is why Capcom didn't do Basara X. They were already too busy with SFIV. I think (guestimation) that Capcom has already done some work and that it is already 20% finished.

Yeah, awesome bullshit....

SF4 .....finally....can't believe it :D

I`ve met Okamoto-san (he is an ex-Capcom now, but owner of Game Republic) in august and he signed my 3rd Strike  ...but the announcement of SF4 is better, YES.

Thank you CAPCOM

Well, that too, but that GB port of MK is just messed up all around. Also, SFII GB at least kept the control motions at full speed rather than slowing down the motions along with the slower speed. The AI is non-existant in the GB Mortal Kombat, with no way to change it.

To be fair, this applies to every iteration of the original Mortal Kombat. :P Jump kick = win.

Hell, they still don't have decent AI for the series.

New info. Coming this Thursday. Aka tomorrow (in NC at least)

"Chatting with a Capcom rep Tueday, we asked how Street Fighter IV is coming along ("great," of course) and what exactly it's going to look like.

"You'll find out Thursday," said Capcom's Chris Kramer.

Capcom confirmed Street Fighter IV back in October, releasing a trailer that looked like an animated watercolor painted somewhere deep within The Matrix. So we can't wait to see how that look translates to the actual game, if at all."

http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?optio ... 8&Itemid=9

Heck yeah. It's coming, we just gotta wait for one day. Come on, I know some of you can wait ONE day.

Well I'm not excited unless a decent pad comes out, or a saturn adaptor.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

You can not mess with SF. Only EX messed with SF and at least it had the decency to separate itself. (EX isn't too bad though)

Wow that does look good. I am definitely looking forward to this for sure. Gives me more incentive to get a PS3 or a 360 or whatever.

I'm honestly find this new "screen" really underwhelming, but I suppose it's too early to pass any judgements. I'm extremely happy they went 2D, but I don't know if I like the pre-rendered thing, it just seems so un-Street Fighter to me.

We'll just have to see what happens.

I can vividly see Capcom USA ordering the developers to put in more SF2 characters. Just wait.

Otherwise, I think this looks pretty nice.

I'm not too sure what to think from the screenshot, but I'm interested in seeing more. It's on the request list at work, so I'm sure we'll be getting it when it comes out over here.

A little off-topic, but when this game was "announced" some guy came in and asked if we got it yet. I thought he was joking, but he really thought it was out. Of course, he didn't believe me when I told it him it was only announced not released. "Well, that's not what I heard."

Yeah that screen shot brings to mind the codpieces they wore in A Clockwork Orange. Looks pretty otherwise though and the 2D gameplay and 6 button layout is encouraging. Cautiously optimistic.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
