In the other video it has the exact same system (two weapons, combo meter) as metal slug 6. This one looks exactly like MS3. Some kind of double pack??
I'm so confused!

Watch the vid here.

Here we were complaining about them recycling sprites, they're recycling a whole damn game!

I don't know what's up with that vid, but that's NOT the same game shown in the IGN screens and in this video. However, Metal Slug 3 on the DS does sound sweet. The Metal Slug 3 "DS" video doesn't look like DS resolution, though.

I'd be fine with Slug 3 on DS.

I have MS Complete on PSP, but I have to admit the thing is a bit unwieldy. Not that the NDSL is much smaller in terms of volume, it seems a bit easier to transport.

I'd be fine with Metal Slug 3 on DS as well, just don't try and give it a new name and pretend it's something new.

This is really weird though, 'cause if you listen you can hear crowds in the background. The Metal Slug 3 level 1 vid is definitely from some show, it says it's from TGS.

...Looking at it again the bottom of the screen on MS3 is displaying "credits", on the other video it's displaying something else.

I reckon that's the XBLA 360 version of Metal Slug 3 and someone at game trailers just fucked up.

Yep. Gametrailers is full of user-submitted content, so it ain't exactly gospel. SNK isn't trying to pull one over on us, someone's just a dambass and mislabeled the thing.

Did you read my last post? I didn't outright say that the video of MS3 was not on DS, but I did say that the resolution didn't look like it was on DS. I also pointed out the REAL MS7 video, which can be found here. As was said, the other video is the Xbox 360 version of MS3. Gametrailers messed up by labeling the game wrong. It's clear that MS7 is not MS3.

The MS3 vid labeled as 7 is not user submitted, none of the HD content is.
Gametrailers is full of fuck ups lately...and yes, the vid is defitely MS3 for XBLA. I prefer Mame version with scanlines though

Yeah, it looks pretty good. Much better than 6 anyway. I've never been a fan of Metal Slug (too much style over substance), but this looks like the series has found its perfect home. It's much easier to forgive a game's flaws when you're having a shit.

That's golden .

This should stay in development at least a couple more months. Too many recycled sprites.

Well it's not like the other six Metal Slugs had totally original sprites :]
This one looks like Metal Slug 1.7, as usual. You can add small true shmup sequences à-là 6 or some other small variants but the core looks always the same.

It's been like that for years, why is it so unacceptable now :o
Alas, Ikaruga is going...

Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

You generalize because it's not been acceptable to me since I got tired of the same sprites with MS3. MS5 had those swat enemies, those tribemen at the beginning and other new enemies.

I thought I completely lost interest in this series after realizing how cheap and tiring those games are; but that trailer looks pretty sweet anyways.

I just wish they would bring back the "one life + healthbar" system from MS GBA - that game was a lot easier but forced you to restart the level you´re in after you run of health. It was a game meant to be a console game and very well balanced, unlike the ridiculous quartermunchers that translated not that well on home consoles. Waaay to hard for 1cc play, practically forcing you to creditfeed, which made them games drab and pointless to me.

Looks great. New vehicles and bosses, I don't care if foot soldiers and stuff are recycled and I still don't know what the big deal is if they are. How different can you make a green-uniformed troop anyway? They have a ton of personality as they are and I would not want to change them one bit.
But hey, if you can't enjoy a game because you can't stand old graphics, then that's not my problem.

Agreed that the gameplay looks like Slug 6, which I rather enjoyed. Though I don't think I would be too keen on those mini-games.

July 17 is the date! I had better check yesasia.

Wow this does look sweet. I love the artwork for Tarma in the trailer, and the mecha slug looks badass. Train/minecart section looks cool as well, though hopefully it won't be a jump-a-thon. I'm still angry about it being on DS (with that title - kind of implies there won't be any more arcade games), but damn, definitely looks loads better than 6.

What!?! You're kidding, right? MSA had by far the worst-balanced gameplay in the entire series. I personally hated the lifebar thing, but aside from that the screen resolution meant lots of cheap deaths and the way respawning was set up was just plain annoying.... especially in conjunction with the stupid CARDS. I move 1/2 a screen away to collect a card, come back, and I have to fight the same 30 soldiers that I just killed again? That's just silly.

Granted, I never put too much time into it because I thought it sucked, but I don't think I'd ever be able to 1cc that game, unlike 1-6, which are all doable (if damn difficult at times). TBH though, MS2/MSX are probably still the most balanced games of the series. 1 still has the most entertaining gameplay to me but it is probably a bit too easy overall.

I hope it has a time attack mode.

Shame it's on the DS. The screen is so small it's hard to enjoy any kind of action game. I hope DS emulation is good, because I don't know if I can handle Metal Slug on such a tiny screen, and with such wimpy controls :(

Hmm.. I wonder if this will suffer from Bangai-O syndrome. Oh well, I'll still buy it.

It's looking pretty good IMO. Shame about being on DS instead of a console though.

better that than the PSP. I woud perfer it on the DS even over the PS3 or 360 as a download. I think the ds is a great platform for it. I would be great on a big screen but they would have to do something white the sprites since eveyones HD ready now. Would it not loose its charm if it was HD ready dynamic flare super 5.1 sound?

I don't even have a Dualshock2, so this isn't a problem to me. I agree it sucks, so I just play with a better 3rd party controller (Or an arcade stick when I want to :D

I also have 3 PS2 memory cards and I can transfer the saves to my Pen Drive, so I don't see the fuss about the Memory card size .

And about slow loading times... I grown up using cassete tapes to load games. When you have to wait 6 minutes to load a 32 kb game, loading a game from a PS2 doesn't seem that bad :).

when you could go away make a cup of tea and a sandwich and come back just to catch the last min of loading. :D

takes me back.

The most fun stuff was when those games actually had some pretty loading screen.... and the loading screen itself took like a minute to load, and while the thing was loading from the tape, the loading screen would reveal itself slowly, as each part of it was slowly loaded from the tape. Fricking stupid :)

I had games which would let you load the whole thing only to crash at the first screen. thing is it would be 50/50 if it crashed or not. could take a few times to load. I thank fuck i dont have to deal with them now. we really are blessed with the internet and DVDs and such.

but at what price? We have to deal with sonys gay pad

still better than 80s gay joysticks. one session on daily thompson and your stick would be fucked.
