No we wouldn't. You wouldn't stretch a painting so I don't see why you'd stretch a game which was never designed originally for widescreen. Well, regardless, the point is that the Standard mode is not an accurate representation of the orignal versions of Rez, stretched or otherwise.
To my eyes, vector/polygon games don't look as bad when stretched as sprite based games do. Every one of my friends who plays 4:3 games on their widescreen TVs has the ratio stretched, so, stupid or not, it doesn't bother a lot of people.

It's just a very pretty and nice sounding rail shooter, there's no innovation past the presentation. It's also exceptionally easy.
