£900 (about 1400 euros)

thanks for the tips, i will check them out! :)

i have to admit, i have been playing for 8-9 years, and listen to some jazz players (michael manring - what a mutant!), but more into repetitive groove type music. things like blues, swing, funk, rock - most types where the rhythmic element is strongest. i do like some jazz, but sometimes feel like it is people just waiting their turn to solo :?

led zeppelin is may favourite band of all time. hence the name!

Me too: I really like funk because I live to groove with my bass guitar! But I can assure you that (even if I'm not a good jazz player) when you start to understand jazz, you can't really not fall in love with it.

P.s.: of course, check also the far more important works of Gemez with Bill Evans, it all started from there (how bad can I be at English language!!!).

Also, no guitars, but a sweet cover of the Lou Rawls song "Love is a hurtin' thing"

Sent it off forever today :(

Been bidding and losing on various Gretsch and Rickenbackers on ebay, I think I might get a handwired 18 watt Marshall clone if I can't find something I want in my current pricerange. Additionally the ol' Jazzmaster still needs replacement parts. I guess my family isn't getting anything for Christmas this year

Me and my Schecter Hellraiser. It rules.

Image
Me and my Ibanez Gio. It's OK.

Me and my Epiphone Special. I don't use it as much as the others, being that the only tuning it holds well is standard.

These are the three i use the most, i have others. I also play Mandolin. It's an Ibanez. I have a few basses as well, but i don't know what they are becuase they were just given to me and i don't play them. I also have an old school Gretsch Dorado from my father that sounds like heaven with nylon strings.

edit: Oh and i use the Peavy 6505 head (because they don't make the 5150 anymore) with a TC Electronics effects rack, an Aphex EQ rack, and the crazy Korg Tuner rack that looks like the front of Knight Rider when you hit the display button.

I really dig the 6120, haven't played it through an amp yet or compared it to a Gretsch with the newer type pickups but the feel and playability is great. Unfortunately I haven't got out of the habit for ebaying to see what's around...

I'll never be able to save 80% of my income with guitars this secksie around.

Aside form all the stage-ready stuff in the bus, Neil Young has only had two personal guitars. Some Gretsch rep was trying to woo him and gave him some guitar worth about $5K. He gave it to the bus driver because it wasn't part of his stage gear and in real life he just needs the two.

I'm definitely trying to limit things to where I have a small amount of high-qual stuff. I don't think I could go with just two though, I need a little variety in life. Then again I'm not a living fucking legend.

Variety? I think it's the songwriting that provides that. A guitar is going to sound alot like a guitar no matter which kind you use or how many you buy.

BTW, I'm not a fan of Neil Young. That was just an anecdote. For the record.

I like that tune needle and the damage done. Haven't looked into a whole lot of his other works, except some stuff that sucked

He's all soft and folky for the most part. Definitely not my bag.

My buddy plays the devil in his Greendale movie though and is also his tour manager. So I gets me some anecdotes and bizarre swag that I rarely want (the swag that is, I like the anecdotes). I do run around in my CSNY shirts at punk rock shows just for fun :)

I'm a pretty big Neil Young fan, Anyone know what his ranking was in the cbc's Greatest Canadian?

I don't even know how Don Cherry made it into the top 10. Are we OT?...

I think we need more photos of acoustics in here.

You should have gone for the real deal like my 6120-60. But at least the setzer model has upgraded tv jones pickups. Mines all stock (scratchy switch and bleh pickups), but sounds good enough for my amateur playing. Don't expect any sustain out of this guitar.

[Edit] Oh I see in the auction your model has stock pickups. [/edit]

While I'm in a picture taking mood....1975 LP Deluxe modified to standard sometime in the late 70s. Was also repainted then to wine red but the finish is now cracked like a goldtop. I don't care if its a frankenstien, I got it cheap off ebay ($1k with ohsc). Sounds and plays great.

Looks really good, but I've heard vintage Gretsch are more trouble than they're worth due to the binding rotting. Plus I don't want to have to deal with a refret or anything.

I am gonna sell mine though, and get a newer one with TV Jones. When I found this, the auction was ending in like 8 minutes and I didn't have time to research it properly. I thought this was like one of the newer ones, but no locking tuners or TV Jones and I don't really wanna mod it. I'd rather get one that is quality out of the box.

Any suggestions? Top 5 songs I should check out?

When I said the real deal, I just ment non-setzer'd up flashy/sparkly model. Mine is a reissue, bought it new in 1997-98. I'd figure mine would sell for about that same price as that purple one, and is a heck of a lot nicer. Just the components aren't that great being stock. In fact I'm thinking of putting mine on craigslist before I get married next year.

Neon did you just say that you spent a grand on a mail order guitar and two weeks later it's time to sell it?

Well the auction said that it had locking tuners, a non-stick nut, etc. He copied the specs from the Gretsch website which of course has the newer models. I don't really want to ask for a refund, since he did say it was a pre-Fender Gretsch and it was on me to know the specs, but the listing lead me to believe that this Gretsch had the same features as the modern ones. I could upgrade the crap out of this one to get it there, but I'd rather resell and get a newer one later that has the features built-in. Drilling out holes for new tuners and stuff is always risky business and it seems like it'd be hell to wire this for new pickups as well since it doesn't have the back access hole like a Country Gentleman or something.

P.S. - Spending a grand sight-unseen on a production guitar isn't so bad, they all feel more or less the same. If it were some rarity it'd be different

Yeah, it isn't sparkly so there's something going for it. Nice LP.

Now you're just being dirty. I don't have to tolerate that on the internet. If this was my forum you'd be banned so fast it'd make your head spin.

Your potty humor is typical of the lowlifes found on this forum. You have nothing worthwhile to contribute to any conversation, ever, and should consider yourself lucky I dropped by to let you know you suck.
