Chasing after a dancing powerup (i.e. a typical Toaplan shooter where the powerups move in some circular pattern) and being distracted into death by it is a pain. I call this the "Toaplan Trap".
Bomb hoarding for bonus' sake is another one. Sometimes I tend to think about it a little too much before using a bomb if it's needed, and by the time I hit the B button it's too late.
Occasionally I'll make the mistake of attempting a Cave "pixel dodge" in some other shooting game with a less lenient hit box when the bullets are about 2-3 pixels apart.
Enemies that appear from behind without any kind of "DANGER!" or "CAUTION" signal are one thing I truly hate.
The "Tekken Double K.O." death is a real pisser of a way to end a boss battle.

I like this term! However I don't think I die due to chasing powerups very often. Usually get caught in a hail of bullets in those games.gameoverDude wrote:Chasing after a dancing powerup (i.e. a typical Toaplan shooter where the powerups move in some circular pattern) and being distracted into death by it is a pain. Yes, these caused me a lot of aggravation in the Genesis port of Truxton (for example).Enemies that appear from behind without any kind of "DANGER!" or "CAUTION" signal are one thing I truly hate.
