Yes, all JP switch-based joysticks make an audible click when the switches are activated/deactivated. And in case you were wondering, the opposite is true for buttons: JP buttons make a very faint click sound relative to US buttons.

Thanks for the reply, I thought it was annoying at first but I'm sure I won't even notice it after a while.

The original stick (Sanwa) has a 5 pin plug connector, which you'll need to cut off. The wiring colour scheme is as follows...

Black = Ground
Red = Up
Orange = Down
Yellow = Right
Green = Left

The mounting holes almost line up. I just extended them into a slot (on the Mag Stick plate). It's a tough metal though, so a decent drill bit is required.
Sorry to bring up an old thread.

Can you explain what you mean by cutting off the connector and extending the holes into the slot?

Also does anyone know what ball tops can be used on the regular (not plus) Mag-Stik?

Also has anyone had success in installing a Suzo 500 in an HRAP 1 v.b?

Wires are connected to the Sanwa via a 5 pin connector. Cut off this connector, and attach a female blade connector to each wire (except black), allowing you to connect to the microswitches on the Mag Stick. Black wire to ground.

The screw holes on the Mag Stick almost line up. You just need to make them bigger (longer).

From what I understand, any standard ball-top will work on a Mag/T-Stik shaft. The trick is getting the old one off. Short of a lathe I doubt you'll have any luck.

I have access to a lathe- what would you suggest doing?

Can someone suggest to me a safe and effective cleaning / maintenance regimen for my Hori RAP EX-SE. Basically, my aim is to maintain full functionality and try to ensure that the controller will keep working and last for as long as possible. I am wondering if anyone has found a good way to clear out all the dust, loose particles, and grime that inadvertently builds up inside the controller over time.

A secondary question is: in your experiences, how long can I expect my hori-stick to last me?

Wash hands before use. :lol:

All kidding aside, there's not much maintenance required. The buttons shouldn't require any maintenance. If they get dirty, you can always take them apart and clean them. They joystick has some lubrication on the bearing that should be re-applied periodically. Sanwa produces a specialized (and expensive lube), http://www.akihabarashop.jp/index.php?c ... db77ece584 .

Sanwa doesn't produce it, Shin-Etsu does. You can also use the less expensive G-30M (Sanwa support was asked), since the main reason why you'd use the G40-M stuff is for high temperature applications. As an alternative, you can use Molykote 44. Same mil-spec silicone grease as the G-40M, but made by a different company. It's also less expensive.

The grease is still pricey, but the stuff will expire (shelf life is almost 5 years...1800 days) before you use it all unless you decide to open an arcade :)

A necro bump here seems as good a place as any for some HRAP2 PS2 questions!

I've read all over the place, but with lots of dead image links and info that seemingly covers the HRAP1 and HRAP2 together, I wanted to ask specifically:

• Are the ver.1 and ver.2s of the HRAP2, or was it just the HRAP1 that got two versions? Or is the HRAP1 ver.2 just an HRAP2!?

• Does anybody know the exact Sanwa stick in the HRAP2?

• What are the buttons in the HRAP2?

This oxtsu post in this very thread is helpful, but I'm not quite sure if it's discussing an HRAP1 ver.2, or an HRAP2 (or if they're the same thing!).

In short, I have a stock HRAP2 (white case, red ball top, red and yellow buttons, metallic sticker-covered CP), that I'm pondering converting to a Saturn stick, as I just have a Hori SS in a horrid state for my Saturn.

Thanks!
