Fuck my life. Spent $76 on the official Dreamcast arcade stick, and the damn thing is defective. One of the buttons keeps dying. And since this is BR BR HUEHUEHUE, it'd likely be more expensive to send it back than it cost in the first place.

It shouldn't be too hard to replace the buttons. And you'll end up with a better product for it. :)

Brainwavz M2 (photos from headfi. thanks headfi!)

~$60. Free Shipping and they came with a free FiiO E6 headphone amp. I'm using the E6 with
my AKG's. significant difference w/ vs. w/o on iPod (can't push full size cans for shit).

I rarely compliment a retailer/manufacturer. It's easier to bitch and hiss.
Brainwavz and the respective seller, MP4Nation, are fucking awesome. MP4Nation and headfi have
an excellent rapport which translates into weekly deals and the occasional "here's some free shit" deal.

Every 6 months or so, I'll pick up a new pair of IEM's, always in the tier 2-3 range. This time it was a
toss up between the M2's and VSonic GR06's. I was sold on the M2's because they can be worn in a
traditional manner or over the ear (GR06's are over the ear only and I'm a bit burnt out after wearing
the Brainwavz R1's for months) and a free amp.

The construction of the M2's is awesome. I've come to love aluminum IEM's after using meelec's and dunu's.
I'm a bit rough with IEM's, particularly at this price point. I don't swing them around like a lasso, but
I don't baby them either. The cabling is amazing. This is where they really shine in terms of construction.
It's twisted SPOFC. Nice and flexible, doesn't get tangled. No issues with memory so far.

I vehemently believe that an accurate sound review of headphones isn't possible until proper burn-in.
Besides, there's plenty of reviews.

Unfortunately, many of the reviews (outside of headfi) will lob ".... for a Chinese company" at the end of
their compliments/pro's. It's fucking absurd. Many of the most detailed IEM's are from said Chinese companies.
I have my reservations and biases, i.e. I'm only interested in German or Austrian full size cans but anything else
related to audio gear, specifically components is one place the Chinese hifi brands easily hold their own in.
.... had to bitch about something.

Here's an interesting book that I found. It's titled, 'Gradius 2 Bible' and basically it has some text about the story and (coolest part of all) has level design documents and other sketches. The sketches are then compared with actual screenshots of the level.

nice card Raiden. the initial benchmarks have been a bit disappointing but they're all running launch or pre-launch drivers.
performance per $, it's an awesome card.

bios, rock'n roll trips, 80's stuff, vintage videogames (spectrum /commodore64), cyberlip neogeo, .. and a masterpiece of art from Lego, the monorail 6990 :)

that's nearly nothing compared to my pal.. future jedi . WTF unusual stuff and a real challenge, FOUR players at starwars racer @home ! ? never seen even a picture of someone who dared this. as he has 3 pinballs starwars +2 starwars arcade machines, .. it nearly (because if even they only have ONE starwars racer, they have the australian pinball & the cockpit..) equals the "arcade" stuff of the "rancho starwars" ...massively financed by georges lucas :| & co...

If I recall correctly, that Monorail set was $150 back in the 80s when it first came out, which made it by far the most expensive Lego set anyone had ever seen. Of course, $150 Lego sets are nothing these days...

Recently picked up a Sony Trinitron 20" from craigslist. I've been looking for a small crt to replace the crappy rf only one I had. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has a component input. Apologies for the crappy iPhone pics - the picture quality is superb in real life. It gave me an excuse to hook up the old PS2 and play some games I haven't touched in quite some time:

Small size is super easy to tate:

I think I'm returning to my old artbook-collecting habits again (expensive times ahead if that's the case), but I couldn't resist picking up a couple of fresh copies of Japanese artist redjuice's works as they were on offer for a reasonable price at Tokyo Otaku Mode. I've always absolutely adored the style and attention to detail in his works, which has a similar feeling to the works from my other favourites Tomoyuki Kotani and Tachikawa Mushimaro, so I'm pretty chuffed to have a couple of hard copies for my library.

Need to track down the rest of them now, heh.

Got a 17" CRT monitor (LG Flatron T710SH) for $13.40.

Having it next to an LCD is enlightening... it shows how absolutely terrible older/cheaper LCDs are when it comes to color.

Phew, got my DC arcade stick fixed. A friend suspected it was just a bit of dirt inside the switch, so he poured a few drops of isopropyl alcohol into it and pressed a few times, now it works fine. And... even though it is a good controller, I understand now why people suggest modding it. The buttons do feel a little flimsy and weird.
