sweeeeeeet

I just wish the 360 stick makers could agree on a standard layout. My Hori stick looks like this:

Image

Which seems to make a bit more sense to me, as it puts the four face buttons in the most usable positions. With the Mad Catz ones, the "B" button is in kind of an awkward spot.

Most games let you remap anyway, so no big deal, it just bugs me a bit. PS2/PS3 sticks seem pretty uniform by comparison.

Nice thing about Mad Catz is they have the LS/DP/RS switch, so when you connect it to a PC especially, you get much better compatibility with games that don't normally recognize the digital pad/POV switch nonsense.

Emulators are no problem because you can remap, but a lot of PC games don't have that option and it's much easier than having to mess with joy2key or xbcd.

Seemed not only un-hyped at all, but also barely distributed when it was new. Pretty weird for the time and age when 2D gameplay was dearly missed and some "retro" games made it big.

Cool! Totally forgot about this one. Had it on my radar when it was released, but never prusued it, since it ended up getting lukewarm reviews (and cuz I don't actually own a Wii... :( ).

Interesting read (the name "Ico" fails to appear).

Graphics style recalls Ico, but Ico is a masterpiece, a shadow tale is just a nice game. I stopped playing it halfway because it was quite boring...

What's the one that just say "The Cure"? I know that isn't their self-titled album from a batch of years ago.

It's an old DELL 4:3 LCD, but I don't remember the exact type of model atm, but I can look it up when I get home tonight (in about 10 hrs).

If it's the one with the extra composite and S-video inpuits, it's a 2001FP (20" screen.) I had one for quite a few years, and it worked quite well, but the front panel controls eventually stopped working.

^^^Too bad they didn't have a copy of Standing on a Beach for you to grab as well. The cassette version has some great b-sides on it.

NEW CANS

Image

These are replacing my Sennheiser HD477 and goddamn ... they are fucking amazing. Nice punchy bass without being 'boomy' and I'm discovering new details in songs I've listened to a million times before.

And I managed to score a good deal on them as well -- a friend ordered from a distributor and I got them for $85, which is $15 less than MSRP.

Can't wait to try some gaming on them! Infinite Undiscovery on 360 has some phenomenal music :D

(oh btw this pic was taken with my proper camera ... approximately 1,000,000x better than my phone :? )

You should play the original Burnout with FPP view, surround sound those headphones on. As well as Twisted Metal: Black and Omega Boost. Also, Thief 1&2 in the dark room (3D sound, EAX and whatnot).

I've been giving them a serious workout all day -- obviously I played a lot of music, a huge sampling across my whole library. Everything sounds fucking amazing.

Then I played some Infinite Undiscovery on 360, and wow it's incredible how much more detail there is. I was wandering around Port Zala, just listening to the different sounds and of course the ocean.

Also tried some Oblivion on PC, where I turned the music off and went for a stroll through the wilderness. They did a fantastic job on the environmental audio in this game, you can hear the wind blowing through the tress, bird calls, a babbling brook. Just amazing.

Currently listening to some progressive house on my phone, Balance 023 in FLAC format Image
