There is one floating around for the original release if you want a general idea of what to expect, but I don't think there's one for the "World Ignition" version.
Thanks, I've played the first release, I was referring to the WI version. I have to get a Steam account it seems, so I can try to pry this game into a resolution for my cabs.

Also, congrats Cagar, you've done well.

I can't get the game to run in fullscreen, just windowed. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm using a 2560x1440 monitor with an Nvidia GT430. Turning on GPU scaling fixed the letterboxing for fullscreen mode. I saw someone suggest it on Steam's boards, so I tried it out.

Letterboxing in fullscreen isn't my problem, for me it always runs in a window even when I select fullscreen. But thanks anyway for the tip though.

That was probably me. Trying to get to the bottom of the fullscreen issue. Been messing with scaling a lot lately because most old RPGs look like ass widescreen, modded or not, and I'd rather just play 4:3 with bars and be done with it. Worth looking in to.

No black bars here. 1280x800 resolution 16:10 screen. I think that's the native resolution of the game, right? Maybe try changing your screen to 1280x800 resolution if your graphics card and screen both support that (with side black bars for 16:9 screens, I would hope).

Probably not a good idea to feed more fuel to the flamewar, but as far as aspect ratio goes, I tend to think that 4:3 / 3:4 gives a good shape / size for a playfield for shmups. 16:9 just feels weird. 16:10 maybe a little less so, IDK. Also it's better for reading / typing, and basically anything else that I can think of outside of movies, and gives more screen real-estate per diagonal inch. Nothing wrong with people who prefer the advantages of widescreens, but I'm definately not one of them, and I don't think it's especially irrational to feel otherwise.

The game switches resolution to 1280x800 no matter what resolution I set my system to (winXP). Maybe you guys need to change your monitor settings to zoom it to full screen instead of letterbox?

The game's really fun. I think I'm benefitting from extra slowdown due to having a weak PC. There's no way I should've gotten 2nd on the leaderboards on Arcade Boost Type II  .

Part of that is that nobody is playing Type II Boost. That's how I got on that leaderboard with my first ever run of arcade boost :P Pretty far down though.

Just got it, and it basically feels like Crimzon Clover black label (not a bad thing!) Haven't tried boost mode or time attack yet but they look fun! Pretty happy that there's native POV support now, but kinda disappointed that the music is exactly the same as the original. Hopefully my eyes will stop being so wonky soon (fuck OCD; my eyes keep tensing up and closing every few moments when I try and play shmups due to my anxiety) so I can put some serious playtime into this.

Also I can't get it to run properly in fullscreen. :?
By the way, what are those medals below the lives display?

In the Stats screen I see how many times I have played the different modes and I get a (0) behind all of them, despite clearing both Novice Boost and Original at least once. I take it the thing in brackets should be 1CCs, or is it 1LCs or something?
The number in the brackets I believe is the number of times you played a mode in training. So the first number is how many times you played a full run, and the bracketed one is training.

Sounds like I found my mode then. :P

Is it supposed to have CAVE-levels of slowdown? I can't tell if it's just because my PC sucks.

As far as I can tell there is very little slowdown, but I've only played up to stage 3 on original arcade.

what are your specs? Also, does anyone know if you can dispay FPS in WI? I remember the original CC would display FPS.

So far only seeing slowdown when starting boost or double boost, but I think that's intentional for dramatic effect.

Overall the presentation is extremely good, not the slightest bit disappointed.

Just use fraps or something similar.

Man, I am so hyped. World Ignition videos are showing up online. People that aren't part of shmups forum are playing shmups! Holy shit =D.
endoKarb wrote:It's gonna be pretty fun when people start realizing World Ignition it's just another methodical hardcore memorizer, just like every shmup ever.
I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a shooting game that doesn't benefit from good routing and practice. However, there are degrees. Some shmups are completely miserable to play until you've passed a critical mass of game knowledge. If you try to twitch dodge through a pattern you haven't seen in these games, you're just going to die. Other shooters, like Crimzon Clover, let you flail around a bit but still let you enjoy a reasonable amount of success even if you don't really know what you're doing. I find the latter type a lot more enjoyable to play, because the game isn't only about mastery, it's also about the learning process. Crimzon Clover is fun right from the start, even when you suck, and it remains fun once you realize the depth of the scoring.

I'm on a core-duo 1.8 GHz with intel GMA950 gpu.

Thanks for the fraps suggestion, just tested it out and it drops from 60 to about 30 fps when there's lots of explosions and stuff going on. It seems my setup is a little too weak.

The doujin version would show a soft-slow text if the slowdown was intended. So I'm sure some of the slowdown in this should be intentional.

Is it worth killing bosses via Double Break? Seems like it's better to just normal break, and grab the E power up for a break or double break at the beginning of the next stage.

It's actually better to get a full-lock kill in double break mode on the bosses (and then grab the gauge power-up (the E) for a faster break). Full lock killing bosses drops more items compared to just shooting them down. I think being in double break increase the point item value, but I'm not sure about that. I just know to do that from watching and mimicing better players like Icarus

Hi guys - Stage 3 Original Arcade. Between the mushihimesama dragonfly ripoffs and the end of the stage, I always die about twice. It always starts going wrong at the flying millipedes, I get boxed into the bottom left when two of their heads are shooting at me coming from above/right, forced to bomb, and it just goes downhill after that. What is a good 'route' for this section?

The first patch is already out (Google translated):
Schedule of Small Fix before the big one / update
JUNE 9 - RM DEV
Small Fix for the Achievements:
.. Due to a bug, the 5 COMPLETE Achievement Awarded would even BE WHEN USED Were Continue Their description WAS changed to match
! Moreover TRUE COMPLETE 5 new achievements Have Been Added in Prevision of a soon to come Patch. ! sorry, They can not yet BE Unlocked
Patch preview:
- [Bug] Correction of the full screen bug

Day 1: Top ten on one of the leaderboards! Sweet!
Day 2: My scores are getting better, but I've slipped down to 30th. Still good!
Day 3: Barely hanging on at 90th place.
Day 4: Oh, for fuck sake!

That said, I almost wish they wouldn't extend the leaderboards. Sometimes it's better not to know.

I just tried out time attack, and holy fuck is it good; I can safely say it's the best caravan mode I've ever played. Gotta get my rank past C++ though
