Lord Hypnos - Hatenkou - Stage 2 boss - 639,300 - 7C
Yeah, I think this boss is actually pretty cheap, there are some bullets that spawn in the middle of the screen that are very large and hard to avoid, otherwise, I think the main issue is that I'm getting a lot of lag for some reason (probably the emulator). I only made it to stage 3 once, and it was when I was using a CRT monitor. Other issues: your ship is too close to the background color scheme, it's horizontal, so it's way harder to dodge the tight patterns, and I'm not totally sure where the hitbox is, though I'm pretty sure.
All in all though it's a fun game, and very original for 1998.
EDIT: seems to have less lag in winx68k, so I'm gonna use that from now on.

Wow, this randomizer really likes making me play XOP Black Ultra. I predict that I will clear it during the quickening sometime. lol. Just got one more stage after this one. Deaths were upsetting due to dying without using up bombs except once Really need to work on that

Re: Operation Quickening, join now!
Kind of a funny run. Got one too many speed up power ups, and kept getting more because I wanted to get a slow down one, then I missed the slow down one, then I died trying to get search back.
Also only remembered to bomb once, because I don't usually play in bomber mode.
Lord Hypnos - V . V - Bomber Mode - Stage 2 boss - 187,690 -9C

Seraph, you seem to be the overall most active pilot..
I will be away for a week..please make a mini-list of all the scores I will and have missed.
Thankings are advancing in.

Been really busy myself recently hence the lack of participation and doesn't look like I'm the only one. I doubt you will even need a list, but if participation spikes up I'll get it done.Captain wrote:Seraph, you seem to be the overall most active pilot..

But anyhow it's about time to jump back in, with this depressingly bad run of Triggerheart Exelica:
ACSeraph - Triggerheart Exelica - Exelica - Stage 3 Extra Boss - ? - 43C
NMNB all the way up to Faintear but I forgot how to fight her and died really quickly. I ran out of fucks to giv and chain died shortly after, while fucking around trying new things on her last pattern.
The problem with games you have cleared before is you can't get any satisfaction out of runs you don't clear, no matter how far in you make it.

Back in action, Captain! Also, you owe me a credit of Mars Matrix including your experience count
When you get back, anyway
Lord Hypnos - Blue Wish Resurrection Plus - Blue Hope - Stage 4 - 9,581,350 - 11C

Could probably clear the first loop if I wanted, but it is hard to care. I don't really even enjoy the game until stage 4.

Tried a new path since I've beaten this before. Unsurprisingly I got wasted really quickly on a boss I had never seen before. This is an absolutely horrible game btw, very sad too, because the only thing it would need to be decent is a farther zoomed out camera. The scrolling that prevents you from seeing enemies ruins the whole thing, especially the boss fights where there is so little screen space available to you that even King Fossil is significantly harder than he was intended to be. Bastard child of the series for sure.

Whoa that went horribly. I've never really played 1.01 but I still expected to get to at least the stage 3 boss. Is it just me or is 1.01 harder than the other versions?

Yes, 1.0/1.01 is considered significantly tougher than 1.5.

ACSeraph - Dogosoken - Stage 1 Boss - 26280 - 47C
That was... different.
You know these Ikari games might actually be pretty fun if the controls were really sharp on the PSP version (Arcade Classics Zero), but the problem is if you just tap the L/R buttons your character won't turn at all. You have to hold them just a second, and if you hold too long you turn too far. These games are hard enough as is, so the badly programmed controls more or less kill it for me. Also why is Ralf in hell exactly?

I hate this game. Isometric shmup is just a shitty idea. I don't think any game could make me feel differently.

This game is hard as fuck. For stage 2 to be this difficult it makes me feel like I could never clear this, so I may as well not even try. I think this game is awesome, but it pushes me into despair.

Re: Operation Quickening, join now!
I'm back! Haven't had much time for shmups recently, including my precious Mars Matrix, unfortunately T_T Probably set me back a bit.
Also this score is awful, and I didn't get a chance to snap it before it went back to title and strangely failed to save it.
Lord Hypnos - Parsec 47 - Roll - Parsec 10 (?) - ≈400,000 - 15C

Re: Operation Quickening, join now!
Welcome to the forum, always good to have more participants in our little game. You get a credit after every game you play, so you need to add it after your score. You see how next to my most recent score it says 50C? That's my credit count. Yours would be 2C, and will be 3C after your next game, so just tac that onto the end of your submission to help keep the Captain from going mad.Nwodatek wrote:Hey! This seems fun. Mind if I join?
