Just caught this on youtube. All these indie developer episodes have been so good, really enjoying them. Probably a bit late in the month for suggestions but Score Rush really ought to be on your radar for this sort of thing.

Snops Attack! Looked pretty fantastic, actually. I think we might have a new game for the newbie recommendation list. Too bad it's not on PC yet.

I enjoyed this episode, especially since we were playing it this week for the gaiden tournament.

I couldn't hear a damned thing the guy was saying. It's like he was mumbling the entire time. I ended up not watching the whole thing because of that.

I agree it was hard to hear him. I think I tried to reiterating points and questions / info as I talked because I knew he was hard to hear. I may have some more tact on this in the future.

I think it was more of an issue near the beginning but I did try to correct things about 15 minutes in maybe and it got better. If you listen with headphones it may be less of an issue. Sorry to hear that.

On this, I might even write a transcript of the interview.

It would be awesome if you could use a compressor/limiter on the whole sound mix, but I don't know what's possible within the streaming software? Or just add it in post before uploading to YouTube? If VST support is there, there are a couple of free ones here: http://www.pluginboutique.com/categorie ... essor/free

Episode #69 was on How to Practice. It is based loosely off the Full Extent of the Jam, I use the term loosely, loosely.
Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... RqzYWyOspg

This has been a requested video / episode and I think I was able to meet the definition by 80% or so. I think I left out some things, but, feel free to leave comments if I did.

#70 for THIS WEEKEND is up in the air at the moment due to Soda being unavailable to stream, and I don't have a good idea right now.

However, we'd like to knock out Muchi Muchi Pork, DEL's Manpuku mode 2-ALL hopefully for episode #71.

Of course, I'd like to do something Halloween related as well, so expect that this month as well.

We're getting ready to start fulfilling orders on Shirts. Hopefully that will come along soon.

Thanks everyone!

I guess Deathsmiles is pretty much a shoo-in for the Halloween episode, haha. Are there any other Horror/Halloween-themed shmups? I guess R-Type has enough horror factor, but I don't usually think of Halloween as being science-fictiony.

you already did Deathsmiles, but even if it's more Christmas style, how about Deathsmiles II with Iconoclast as guest as he's pro with it ? (arcade version)

I'm happy to cover Crimzon Clover World Ignition too if needed (yeah CC 1.01 has been covered already i know)

They did everything Deathsmiles already so just drop it.

Also, if you need replays and stuff for games like the XOP series, Samidare, RefRain, or Erst Kerf, then I have some. (though, only the ones for the XOP games would actually be mine :P)

Theoretically, I could also come on for XOP, or Project Blank (those two should be in a single episode) but I've never skyped before so it would take awhile to set up, as well as a "practice call" of some sort a day before or something like that.

Sweet! can't wait to hear Del's commentary on his manpuku run!

Now would also be a good time for me to volunteer myself for Mars Matrix commentary if you guys ever want to do an episode (and would want me doing commentary on it, for that matter). I think I like Rob's DC run (in spite of no sound) the best for superplay stuff, followed by Moreno's red ship arcade counterstop run. IDK if you'd want to do kusoplay footage, too, but there's my footage (which would suck b/c it's digital camera), and also two pretty good even lower scoring DC runs on niconico that I could probably link to, at some point (one red one blue). Also, it's unlisted on YT, but if he's cool with it, Rob's most recent score attack runs, especially stage 2, are probably the coolest Mars Matrix footage ever (also digital camera, unfortunately).

I will say though that I don't know that I'd be able to do it any time soon. I'd need to set up skype, and also am not really in a situation where I'll be able to do it in the next few weeks, anyway, but in theory I would love to do commentary on Mars Matrix.

EDIT: My score, as such, is not too great (only about 2.5 million experience), but I do understand scoring well enough to explain it, and to explain what people are doing (although it's pretty easy to tell once you understand scoring, because it's a fairly straightforward system)

Deathsmiles II would definitely be interesting. But I think it'd go better near Christmas like the Deathsmiles episode was for Halloween. It'd be nice to have commentary on how the Arcade and Ex Mode scoring strategies and mechanics. And whatever is up with Arrange if anyone actually knows how that mode works.

Pink Sweets Arcade(Normal and Harder) could also maybe work for the Halloween thing. Those patterns seem scary enough

I think next Saturday is going to be the long-coming Awesome Game Replays episode for J.J. Squawkers that I've gotten put together. At least, that was what the plan seemed to be a few days ago.

Pink Sweets would be cool at some point though. I'd like to see a replay that doesn't just grab infinite lives ASAP and then scrubs the rest of the game.

Excited for DEL's manpuku run with commentary!

I can offer to give replays and/or commentary for Astebreed and Revolver360 RE:ACTOR if there's interest for those at some point.

Would love to see a Crimzon Clover World Ignition episode, that game deserves the activity it's gotten and there's already some great runs out there. Metal Black episode with BIL also needs to happen some day :P

Very confused here. I know for a fact I've seen muchi muchi pork being discussed in STGWeekly. What's with everyone talking about all these games that have been done? Am I missing something here? (as usual)

Muchi Muchi Pork and Pink Sweets Arrange have already had episodes, but the game modes discussed for new episodes are very different from what has been featured already.

I suppose more and more cave instead of something interesting can't be a bad thing.

edit: that came off a bit more pessimistic than I was intending. :?

I played a bit of J.J. Squawkers yesterday in MAME, very hectic but fun arcade platformer.
I would love to see your replay, trap.

I would actually agree with you there :D , except that Pork is really a Yagawa game that was released under Cave's name. Plus as far as we know, my Manpuku Mode 1CC 2-ALL is the first time its been done.
So its a bit new in that respect.

Cheers

This.
This.
THIS!

Seriously, an actual run even if not a clear but to stage 7 or the last boss with no infinite lives triggered would make for an awesome episode. Especially since there's tons of strategy here. All bomb, no shot. All shot, no bomb. A mixture. Of course by bomb I mean rose cracker but you guys knew that :P

PS arrange episode was cool but still.

Yessssss I need to learn how to play PS. We should ping Icarus (and the other players who wreck the game; can't recall names at the moment but it'll come to me) and get plans going; this has to happen.
Milspex wrote:a Metal Slug episode please
We've wanted to do a Metal Slug episode for a very long time! Unfortunately, we have yet to find any help for replays and/or commentary -- which I find very interesting, as I know that several players on the forum are very skilled at the Metal Slug games. I quite enjoy them myself, so I can certainly host or cohost the episode, but I'm not skilled enough to provide detailed commentary.

With regard to the "this seems like it has been done before"-type comments:

Quite honestly, one of the issues that we have been running into with planning episodes lately is that we're struggling to find commentators and/or replays for many of the games that have been suggested.

And this isn't necessarily for obscure games either -- one of our most requested titles, Mars Matrix, doesn't have an episode yet for exactly this reason. I know we've reached out to many different people about helping us find replays for that game and/or providing commentary, and so far I don't believe we've gotten even a single response. Another great example is the number of times several Touhou games have been suggested (Mountain of Faith is probably the highest on the list right now) compared to how few Touhou episodes we've actually produced. Part of the reason that, for example, we're planning a Muchi Muchi Pork Manpuku episode is that we have a great source of both replay and commentary thanks to DEL being willing to help us out.

Keep in mind that STG Weekly is, and always has been, a community driven show. We love making it happen, but we can't do it on our own. We're just four guys who play shooting games and decided to start talking about them in a marginally more coherent way. We rely entirely on volunteers for commentary, and even though we research the games ourselves, we often struggle to find replays worth showing. If you have a suggestion for an episode, a replay, or a commentator for a game you'd like to see, please let us know.

Even if you aren't the most knowledgeable person in the world for a particular game, if you know *something* and nobody else is willing to come on, we can run an episode -- but if nobody is willing to help at all, it won't happen (or at least it won't happen unless one of our staff plays it). If you want us to showcase a game that you like, TELL US and help us find replays and commentators!

That came off a bit too much like a lecture, lol. Not my intention at all.

If we want to do a Metal Slug episode, I think I can round up replays and commentators. If we want to do Metal Slug X, I can provide commentary on that as I'm quite close to a 1CC and think I know a good amount about it, and I believe iconoclast has replays available for it too. Next time there's a free week, give me notice a few days in advance and I can probably round up a game with replays and commentators.

I did a 1CC of Metal Slug a while ago in case you guys need a replay for that:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcjwVBzWbFQ

It's a low scoring run though as I ignored all of the secret POVs. I've managed to get a 1CC with most of the secret POVs but I didn't record that run unfortunately. Also, I think that sapz has a Metal Slug 1CC video on Youtube.

There's nereid, and maybe me, that can commentate for Mountain of Faith. Replays can be found on http://score.royalflare.net/th10/levelchar10.html and we can discuss what replay(s) to feature beforehand. I don't know about nereid but I am usually available during the weekend. You can find me by query on irc.rizon.net (nick: dxk or dxk_)
