Here's my setup...

I don't actually sit that close to the tv, I just wanted to include the stick in the shot.

I had been using a fairly nice 17" CRT for a little while and had been loving it but it decided to crap out on me today. Gonna go look for a replacement on my next day off. I can't let my shiny new SLG3000 sit unused.

As promised, here are two pics of my current TATE-Setup. The monitor on the lef (obviously the tate'd one, hehe), is a Dell UltraSharp 2001. And it is just awesome playing the games like this, I'm never going back. ATM, I "just" got my PC with MAME on it, but after I install my "new" mame-pc in the cab, I'll also hook my Xbox at this baby... *gleee*

That's not widescreen is it? Looks nice! Do you notice any lag as it's rated 16ms?

It is a beautiful 3:4 monitor, that's why I'm so happy about it. They're not so easy to come by these days in sizes larger than 19".

Yeah, I was a bit worried about the 16ms response time of 16ms, but in actual gameplay I haven't noticed it yet - I played DDP for about an hour on it, and I never missed a panic-bomb, e.g. bomb " on raction", which is a good sign for me. Also, controls feel spot-on, so it does the job very, very well for me. But I'm no measure, I guess, as I rather suck in STG.

Response time has nothing to do with lag.

He is right, response time and input lag are two different things. Manufacturer will usually not indicate any input lag value, best bet is to find a reviewer who has measured the input lag.

was able to find a replacement CRT monitor at a thrift shop in town for 10 bucks today. Since I was using an LCD with a bunch of dead pixels as a quick and dirty replacement this was definitely good news for me. Will post a pic when my camera battery gets charged up.

Just received a new monitor stand I scored on eBay for $27 shipped:

Using it on my 22" LCD for MAME

It's beautiful *single tear*

Seller still has some left, these are BNIB Gateway-branded height-adjustable stands with pivot. He's bumped the shipping up a bit, but considering the size and weight of the box I think it's still reasonable:

I haven't been on here in ages. I just picked up a Sony PVM-2030 (20" RGB CRT) for free yesterday so I'll be getting it setup soon. I'll make a custom vga -> 25pin cable tonight and get it booted up using soft15khz. I was previously using a Commodore 1084 (14" rgb crt) before I packed it up and moved and it was awesome. This should be a great upgrade. The nice thing about the Sony is all the sides are perfectly flat (even the back) so it will sit nice in any position (even on its back).

Wow, can't beat FREE!! NICE.

Picked up a second Sony PVM (20"), remote, plus some custom cables for various systems for $100 even a few months ago. Plan to use this one as a dedicated tate CRT and use the 25" PVM for hori games. Just need to get a desk/stand for it. Also got a really nice NEC 21" CRT VGA monitor free from work. They were just going to throw it away.....

I usually have the CaveBox360 on the TATE TV but I recently moved it and the EX-SE over to the main television to play some Akai Katana... so I moved the Saturn to the TATE TV! (BTW pretty much the first thing I set up after moving into the new apartment haha)

looks nice through s-video...

unfortunately the way it worked out in the living room puts the sweet Ikaruga logo my girlfriend screen printed on the side of the TV up against the wall. you can check it out on page 16 of this thread, though.

here's my MacBook TATE setup

thanks to darthjones for the modded TvC stick

Yessir. The Saturn does look pretty crispy through S-video. I just got myself a cable last week.

I've just got myself a monitor for tate gaming, A Dell Ultrasharp 2007fp 4.3

The monitor rotates great into vertial mode but you can only turn it one way, clockwise I think.

This isn't too much of an issue but I tried to play Triggerheart Exelica on the Dreamcast but couldn't get the game to dislay properely. This wouldn't be an issue if the monitor rotated anti clockwise.

I'm thinking of getting a Neoflex stand for it instead but will only get one if someon can confirm that i can rotate the monitor anti clockwise as well as clockwise.

If anyone was a neoflex stand could they advise on this?

many thanks

If you can unscrew the monitor from the stand you can make it go anti CW by re-applying the monitor horizontal once the stand is vertical. It will go ACW wise.

Thanks for the advice.

I tried that and the screen does come loose from the stand but you can only put it back on the same way it came off the stand.

The fitting on the back of the screen is a standard vesa fitting so i think i should be able to get a stand that turns 360 degrees or at least 90 degrees anti clockwise.

If the screws make a perfect square (Vesa 10cm apart) then it will apply itself CW or ACW.

All you do is turn the monitor CW (vertical), unscrew it and put it back on horizontal. Then it will turn ACW.

Well thats how me and about 50 other people do it. The only way it will not work is if the screws are in rectangle formation.

The screen itself is has a vesa type attachement on the back, square with with a screw hole in eash corner.

The stand that came with the monitor however doesn't let me get to any screws on rhe back. I think if I buy a neo-flex stand (they aint that expensive) I can apply what you have just told me.

thanks for your help.

quick querry, does an arcade cabinet which has a fully cased and functional display (i.e. An lcd panel) fixed outside the cab and distinct control panel (like a hori vlx arcade controller) count?

Putting it out there cause I felt its like a grey area.

Upgraded the 2.1 sound setup to Klipsch Promedias, upgraded the dedicated PC hooked up to it and grabbed a second Hori VLX (360) for the import xbox shooters.
