Glad you noticed this. I've said it before, but here it is again: In episodes IV to VI, the pacing took you to an event that was unfolding while you were done watching another, in a "staggered" or "overlaid" manner of sorts. TFA felt like a series of vignettes put together side by side to me, like they tried to cram as much as possible in the allotted time, not letting one take in the events. Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.
Re: Star Wars Episode VII: Cast Unveiled...slated for 12/18/
Although I generally agree with your criticisms, I'll have to make a stand against this one. Daisy Ridley is well cast from a superficial level (British, Female, tomboyish, physical, strong) but she's a very amateurish actor. She's at a good 'school play' level, where she might get a strong round of applause from student's parents, but her overacting is clunky and almost embarrassing in places and she's too conscious of doling her lines.Xyga wrote:Most actors play horribly, except maybe the new girl who at least tries to make faces like in good ol' cinema.
That's not to say FA is much for acting generally. There are no Alec Guinneses or James Earl Joneses to bouy the dramatic line. But Boyega was certainly better than Ridley.

The problem with the main characters is that there's no defining aspect of their person to give the viewer anything more than the most superficial attachment to them. They may as well have cast Tina Fey and Chris Rock.
Nothing against the actors, it's the script that short sold them.

PersonallyI won't be happy until I see Rowan Atkinson in Jedi attire, so really the franchise can't do a thing for me anymore.

Plenty of hype for the Blu-ray & DVD release of SW Episode VII on April 4th, 2016 (April 1st, 2016 for the digital d/l release). If you've noticed, there isn't a 3D Blu-Ray version of Episode VII out yet either.

I think she was just suffering from the stress of actually starring in a Star Wars film. It's a lot to handle.
I'm probably being a little optimistic, but I think she'll do better in the next film.
My sister works at a second run theater that's getting it soon, so I'll probably see it over the weekend.

That's a pathetic excuse. She just can't act.Lord Satori wrote:I think she was just suffering from the stress of actually starring in a Star Wars film. It's a lot to handle.

Really, I thought she was way better than Boyaga. She was a bit understated at times, but I'd take that over the ham on show from Boyega and Ford. Doesn't matter, the star was clearly Chewy.
Doubt I'll be picking up the BluRay.

Don't confuse your like/dislike of the character, their dialogue and likability for acting chops. It's not the same thing. For those shortcomings you blame the scriptwriter and director.
Boyega (and Ford) ran rings around her from a performance ability standpoint.

We will have to disagree in that. From Ford and Boyega I just saw "acting". I thought Daisy Ridly and Adam Driver were both good, though the script was poor with some of there scenes / dialogue.Skykid wrote:Not a chance.dan76 wrote:Really, I thought she was way better than Boyaga.

Jesus what a giant waste of time. There's fan service and then there's building an entire movie off of shallow references, throwbacks, parallels, and abrupt scene changes. We couldn't even get a screen wipe transition to infer the passage of time? Maybe now that Abrams has shot his wad we can get a proper movie with a series of actually interesting storylines instead of one linear sequence of events.
Probably not. It's all downhill from here.
Lol at Adam from Girls as a piss-poor intentionally 2nd-rate Vader. Holy shit he's terrible.

Ford was going to be loved regardless. People in the theater were screaming and clapping when he first appeared like it was a surprise or something. He could have stumbled and forgot his lines like a live acting performance and still have gotten some rave reviews.Skykid wrote:Not a chance.dan76 wrote:Really, I thought she was way better than Boyaga.
