Is it called that? I mean the secondary weapon that is charged by collecting "souls", which slows you down while you use it ;)

Anyway, the easiest way to kill that boss is to use your ")))" over weapon twice before the boss starts his special attack.

Yes it's called that. Btw that pic of the last boss, it's one ugly deformed baby. I can't believe he's the leader of the Orn Empire.

Alright, just got my 1CC on Normal. That unlocked Rynex-R and Report 3. Then I cleared the game immediately afterwards (still on Normal) with Rynex-R, which unlocked Syrinx and Report 8.

Awesome stuff. Playing as Rynex-R you get different music on some stages, the ending's totally different, and even the weapons act differently (Free Range is far less useful)...and you actually have to collect the weapons and your CRAWs.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

while in the last boss, i encountered a graphic glitch, several times, using the "net" weapon's bomb attack causes garbled textures to appear... lol

I got all three ships, I played on normal. Great game, pretty to look at, good musics. It was a little easy than I thought....hmmmm. Oh well I rate the game an 7.9/10.

This game was made more like Thunderforce 5...thats what it felt like.

Looks like TFVI works on pcsx2 emulator. :) This should be a good incentive for those who don't have the console to try out the game. The screenshots were taken from a Japanese blogger. However the blogger commented that although you can play the game all the way to the ending, there may be freezing issues and occasionally forced to terminate the program.

so there are 3 usable ships in total right.. no more? I got the game today and really enjoy it, lots of fun and looks quite nice.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

If your after more on TFVI, go get yourself a copy, and when I'm done at work, I'll try and post the most interesting bits...

EDIT: Spelling like an idiot!
Points of interest from the Tez Okano interview.

Depending on how well the game sells it is the first in a line of shooters - STG Project - he wants to develop new Space Harrier and Fantasy Zone titles.

Okano has worked with Treasure previously on three occasions however he did not want them to work on TFVI as he felt it would become a "Treasure" game along the lines of Gradius V - no ThunderForce soul but Treasures.

Wanted to do a arcade version but Lindbergh too expensive and Naomi not enough power.

Intended slowdown in the game.

Possible conversion of ThunderForce VI to PSP.

Wants to explore digital distribution.

Would be happy to work on XboX360 for overseas sales.

He also feels todays shooters are too manic.

Seeing the state, knowledge and skills required to even get the thing running plus the computer specs needed to run a game even remotely decently (and some of them won't just work fast anyway), it's just easier (and safer) to get a PS2+game and end of the issues.

I mean, I can plug the PS2 and play Espgaluda without issues. The emu cannot even run it past 12fps due to some buffer issue or something. (maybe it was fixed already who knows, however, what really makes the emu attractive is that games like Mushihime look absolutely fantastic on the comp, far less blurry and headache-inducing)

Anyway, TFVI definitely looks badass. Sadly, I'll either have to wait for an american release or save for months to get it (or get a used copy in a couple of months after the hype dies...) but this is definitely on my list.

Reinforcing the awesomeness of the boss themes.

Is anyone else finding the graphics in this just a little on the ragged side?

For example when going through the organic tunnels and there's some round balls that when you shoot them, they turn into lots of smaller round balls, there's no solidity to it. It's like it's not showing enough frames and they are teleporting around. Lots of the fast moving stuff is giving me a similar feeling. Sorry I'm so lame at describing it. I'll have another play and see if I can articulate it more clearly.

This is where I find I was imagining it earlier :D

nope....

Yeah... I hope folks buy this and it does as well as a release of this kind can do. I really enjoy it and would like to see more from this guy.

That Orn Faust midboss music in stages 5 and 6 totally reminds me of "It's A Sin" by The Pet Shop Boys :D

Guys, guys. Games are always better on hard mode. That's a fact. You can't review a shmup without playing its hardest difficulty...

Haven't played this one yet, but looking forward to it. :)

Looks like everyone is having a good old time playing this, while I sit here waiting for my copy to arrive.. It sounds like it's going to be worth the wait, however.

That's not bad for opening day (although there was a long pre-order time).

I'd be curious to see first-week and first-month sales figures too.

Anyone have sales figures on hand for other PS2 shooters like Homura and others?

ReKleSS's Ibara/Mushihime 240p Patch works fine on TF6 by the way. This was expected as the patch did work great on Sega's Hokuto no Ken already. Here are a few pics:

Depending on the deinterlacing capabilites of one's display one might prefer 240p to the game's 480i standard.

I don't think so. It might be little difficult to compare. I feel that gradius V took a safe route with graphics. The graphics in GV are well done but still monotonous. It seemed like the graphics designers didn't want to take risk doing something they weren't sure they could do well. Still GV graphics always feel very consistent.

In TFVI, on the other hand, there are have all sorts of different environments. Some are done well but others not so much. Some of the models really need a higher polygon count. Some textures also needed alot more work. Also, generally the movement of objects doesn't feel as natural as GV. I am not so sure about my last point though as I have only played the game two times till now.

But I have to say that graphics of this game feel lot more fresh compared to GV. Maybe next game if this development team gets a high budget they can make something to behold graphically.
