Gwinbee is great for survival, since your right side is basically invincible with him, and his shot is really good at killing bosses quickly. I always had him from stage 2 onwards. Controlling the bells gets kinda tough though, maybe that's why I couldn't score higher.

Move into him and he latches onto your dude, giving you extra firepower.

and if you charge your shot, you can throw him around the screen, and then catch him back again.

What I didin't know is that you could carry it over levels.

Crap, I only had him latched on once and I had no idea what was happening. Perhaps that would have helped with survival at the stage 4 mid-boss. He was a pain.

Levels 1 and 2 of this game were really great. I just found scoring in stages 3 and 4 so annoying. Not enough bells, no Michaels, cheap deaths, etc. I think the game had a great model with the first two stages-- all they needed to do was up the difficulty for remaining stages. Stage 3 was especially uninspired after stage 2. You might have hoped for a manic scoring frenzy, and instead you get a mini-boss rush (or something like that-- not sure how to put it). Stage 4 is better than I first thought. I think I'm mostly annoyed that I didn't have more time to get comfortable with it. It seemed like I'd always go in underpowered and remain that way until an unhappy death.

I actually like stage 3, it's in a certain way a "battleship level", like we see in so many games. The problem lies in the gravity-shit that pulls your ship around when the screen scrolls everywhere automatically.

throwing gwinbee around did more good than keeping him at parts because getting rid of the screen of pests was more important than invincibility to bullets
so long and tanks for all the spacefish
unban shw

Stage 4 for me was a constant Gwinbee throwing. Throw Gwinbee -> get enough time to charge bakudan -> kill a couple of cats, the ones near the spot you'll guess Gwinbee will stop -> catch him and repeat.

It was fun!

Me too. I wish i'd known about the Gwinbee stuff earlier =|
That said, i really kinda like TBY. Had a lot of fun with the first couple of stages, and I can even forgive the insta-death crap in stage 3. Stage 4 and onwards feel rather sloppy and cheap, tho. Hard to tell what's going on.

On the whole, i doubt i'll ever play the game again but i might check out some of the other twinbees.

I'll probably do the high score thread, but it'll have to wait til tonight at least. I may actually revisit this game now that stage 4 is seeming more approachable.

I like this game, it's like a single-player version of Twinkle Star Sprites. But I will admit the rank system can really rape you.

If anyone using the shot type (top choice) is having trouble with the cat stampede in stage 4, a fully charged shot will kill cats behind you (and on your sides).

Also, Gwinbee sucks, it really fucks with your scoring. Michael is awesome though, he makes bell juggling super easy.

Note that all the scores in this competition are not valid for a HS thread, as they are not arcade default settings.

I'd still like to play this more considering I only got to do so about 6-7 times over the week.

You could always split it into "with extends" and "without extends" tables, to encourage console players to get in on it.

Thank you BulletMagnet for consideration of console players.

I am nothing but shit to some people because I play my video games on a console :?

I like Twin Bee -- I do own the game after all but I don't enjoy it much when I play for score :(

I would play the other game on the deluxe pack to take a break from Yahhoo! to regain myself. I will try to play Twin Bee Yahhoo! the way I used to play it rather than stress out over bells and scoring  :(

I think that's the problem with about 50% of the people who didn't like the game. Playing for survival and playing juggling bells for score is very different here. The game is a lot less annoying when you aren't try to ALWAYS PICK UP THE RIGHT COLOR BELL :)

Yep. If you still have him at the end of the boss fight, when the next stage starts, he'll come weaving up from the bottom of the screen.

Wow, I never knew about the Gwinbee thing... I always thought he was useless because he flew off screen within 10 seconds.

Charge Shot 4 for the win! Absolutely milks ground bonuses from the third boss :D

I'll definitely have to watch some replays to see how much different they play. With my luck after watching those, I'll be able to get a ridiculously high score pretty quick.

well, I didn't use Gwinbee much often, so whatever.

WHERE'S EDGE? I want to know where my team will be, I hope we make top 7 at least.

I am pretty sure we will be ahead the Oldschoolers. HA HA HA HA HA.

(And I hope we can assemble a brazilian team next year, as by now I doubt my old team will accept me back, hehehe :) )

sure mate, like I said, I was just kidding.

Goddamn, I don't think we are in such a confortable situation against oldschoolers as I first thought after seeing the final scores chart. It's going to be close.

I think this year will be Namako Team against Turbo team again for the top spot, but Turbo team will give a better fight this year, with Twiddle joining them.

Team Sweden will probably be the runner-up, though I believe Team France had a good chance of keep on fighting for the position, if they hadn't lost their captain so early in the competition.

I didn't know what to expect from Team SDA, but they obviously are coming strong, and if they keep it up for the rest of their tournament, they will certainly get a top 5 spot.

Team Apes would be a great contender, but they need to get a 3rd strong player. Sikraiken certainly is going to give headaches to Icarus and Rob, and _Bnu can make some good scores from time to time, but they are lacking a good 3rd man.

I think we will be fighting for the 7th spot with Sturmvogel, Oldschoolers and Drink & Fly (Maybe Team Downrank too). I think this week Sturmvogel got the worst perfomance, but I know they can do better than this.

That's at least what I had set-up for our team to get. A 7th place would be awesome, considering we didn't match to snatch our top 2 players, and would mean finishing at the top third of the team table. If Innuendo had signed up, then I think we could be fighting for a top 3 spot :)

Maybe next year.
