I just went back and played this for a couple of hours, haven't played it since I got it when it came out for about 20 minutes, and damn. I actually really dig this game.

Gorgeous! mode is a big pile of crap, admittedly. I hate having to grind and level up your character, the world map is stupid, and the difficulties are stupid. Everything is stupid about Gorgeous! mode.

But Arcade Mode actually isn't too bad in my opinion. I think its a really fun game, and buying the new weapons and what not is actually fun, except for the fact that I can't read Japanese and never have any idea what I'm buying so when I buy levels 1, 2, and 3 of a crap weapon I get pretty pissed.

But anyway, I just wanted to give my second opinion of this game. Not nearly as bad as I thought, but far from great. A fun time-waster, really.

Oh, and the game is way too easy on standard difficulty. My first time playing it in months and I no-missed to the 5th stage.

You've got the modes mixed up here. Arcade is the one with the world map, Gorgeous without.

FWIW, I thought Gorgeous mode was ok.

I love how Play-Asia's doing a massive price drop on the item, yet it's still for sale on Konami's website for 27,000 yen (around $270) so they're still making a profit.

You know an LE has failed when they have enough stock to put it on sale.

一部の高額ウェポンカードは開始直後ゲームオーバーでは非常に得にくいため、ショップで購入したほうが早いだろう。
※リプレイ画面でループ状態に陥るのを防ぐため、連射速度をAは2,Bは3にしておくとよい。

ゴージャスモードでもらえるポイントはその面で稼いだ点数に面クリアランク補正をかけた値であり、ランクSとAでは2倍の差が生じる。

Dude, trust me.

The last 200 points are not worth it. Literally took me three or four nights of pure grinding. It's awful. I only did it to find out how bad it really is. When you get to around 45 cards, the game practically stops giving them out. I.e. the probability drops extremely low. It's misery.

It's just quitting out of arcade mode over and over again after unlocking all the weapons cards in Gorgeous mode. They claim you can program this on a programmable pad.

I was wondering when the hell they were going to use those characters. They were even in the instruction booklet, but unusable! And how about unlocking that last empty location on the world map too...

yeah well..Fuck the 200 GS achievement is all i have to say..lets say i grinded over 8-9 hours after getting the 573 minutes achievement and i was still no where close to getting all the cards

Is anyone going to bother with the new characters? They look pretty overpowered in comparison to the rest of the cast. For example, one of the two has homing options, which can destroy certain enemies not accessible without dying (ice level comes to mind).

I won't lie, it looks like a lot of fun and I'm tempted to get it. Thing is, I don't really like the game otherwise. If it isn't just for single player only, then I might.

Yeah I don't like the game to much either but the level looks nice and it seems it is incorporated in the gorgeous mode also, as at the end of the video you can see that it was verse level 4 which is normally the egypt level. Maybe you can select at the beginning of the game which level you want to play as stage 4?

If it's not to much points I will download it today.

EDIT:

OK, the new Level costs 500 points and it's quite good. If you download it you can select normal course or new course at the start of the game. In the new course the download level is level 4 but the egypt level is still there as level 5 so you have now 7 levels to play through. The patterns of the last boss also seemed a bit different.
Also there are 2 leaderboards now (one for each course) and it is possible to view your friends by pressing Y.
In Arcade mode you can now select ultimate difficulty, I think this is also new ?

Yeah, Ultimate is new. All difficulty levels are unlocked for Easter Isle at the beginning too.

I like the new level, it's longer than the others and pretty fun and challenging. The boss fight is good too. I also like the new characters, I'd like to level them up a bit and make them powerful but I'm still working on finishing off Tia first. No way I can manage to build up another character too, haha.

Too bad they didn't add new achievement points for the DLC, could have gotten an extra 100 per character by beating Gorgeous mode.

It says you can use a turbo controller(one with timing) and left you console on for a few hours and it will collect all of the illustration and most of the weapons. But you have to be careful on the timing, or you will get stuck(looping) in the replay screen. Suggested timing is A= 2, B= 3.

For Gorgeous mode, the point you get for S rank is double of what you get for A rank. So the best thing is to repeat stage one(takes about 5 mins) and sucide in stage 2, it will get you about 2000 points each run. Also dont set the differculty to VERY EASY, since the points you get are max at RANK A, so even if you get RANK S, you wont get those points. Easy or up is recommanded.

outfits, you get to keep the weapons you bought for that specific character in the new uniform.

p.s. for the ppl who said this game is a pile of crap, obviously you are playing on NORMAL differculty or lower. Why dont you try hard + for a change?
