So every shooter now has to have microscropic hit-boxes and enough bullets to swin through a la all Cave game/modern shooter?! ... No. For sure not for me. I prefer greater variety. And am pretty tired of everything being a bullet hell these days.

Anywho, been firing away in MAME with some Cave games, trying to get into this groove again (seems like you take a tiny break from em, and you're back at square one on learning how to play them again >_<). ... Wish I had more Cave game on my 360 to practice (only Deathsmiles, Akai, Guwnage), as playing it on the 360 HD (+ owning them in physical form) would be more motivating...

For the most part:

Blue Wing Resurrection Plus - still trying to finish it on Heaven difficulty with the Blue Wing ship
Jamestown - stuck on the final level. able to beat The Conquistador but can't beat the final boss.

and on mobile:

I just purchased Danmaku Unlimited 2 after playing the heck out of the Lite version.

It's also entirely possible that I end up purchasing one of the Cave games eventually too. I just don't know which one.

I like how shmups control on mobile devices. It seems like a perfect fit.

The benefit of a smaller hitbox is that you don't have to react as soon to a bullet. A bigger hitbox means that if a bullet is about to hit you, it's possible you'll start moving and still end up hit. Small hitboxes mean that as long as you make a small tap out of the way, even a last second dodge can save you. They simply feel more fun than large hitboxes where your ship explodes from the outside of your sprite getting clipped.

I like pretty much all the Cave games on iOS, but if I had to choose only one I would take Mushihimesama (Bug Princess)

I agree that the controls feel really really great on mobile, but they also make the games significantly easier because you can move around so freely and quickly.

On the other hand, some of caves stuff is unwieldy on mobile because the controls are too complex for a touch screen. It's too difficult to hold a chain in DDP, Espgaluda's control options leave a lot to be desired, and Deathsmiles requires way too much switching left and right. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying they are bad, but I feel like you can't get nearly as much out of them when compared to their console counterparts.

Mushi on the other hand is a very straightforward game with simple controls even on console so it works perfectly aside from being a bit easier due to free movement on iOS. And I'd go for the first one over Futari, if only because Mushi Ultra iOS actually provides a pretty steep challenge even with the touch controls, unlike Futari God which I wasted on my very first try.

^ Completely agree regarding Deathsmiles. Actually, yeah, that's the only game I don't like from Cave for the mobile platform.

Just remembered I saved my doujin folder from Windows. Been playing some BWRP and Arcana Shoot. Forgot how fun the latter is, despite the strange controls, too bad it seems the dev vanished from the face of earth.

I decided to try Eden's Aegis, BWR, BWR+ again, I 1cc'd all three (original) on my first try.

It seems like heaven is even easier than original, so I'll have to try hell now.

pang is a shmup for pretty much all the same reasons galaga is.

pang is also not a puzzle game. i mean it has less puzzle elements than ikaruga of all things.

The setting on the highway is similar too: beachside.

Futari BL Maniac, trying to get the Palm clear (already have it with Reco) so I can move on to another 360 port.

Waffling between Pork/Pink Sweets and Ketsui. On the one hand, I definitely need more Pork, especially since I know I can come close to a clear in the arcade version. On the other, Ketsui so good.

Been thinking of Crying all day ( ) after hearing zabu's new album. Track 2's intro brings the "Orrible Thingy In A Ruined City" boss BGM to mind!
