VBG - Magical Chase - Rough - Stage 2 - 92,980

Deathsmiles 1993 Label is bodacious. One of those games that makes the time before it feel slightly wasted. Stage 2 boss is a doozy; tried a few more times after and I still can't handle him.

Almost every boss in Magical Chase is a matter of being aggressive and having the right weapon. It's embarrassing to die over and over trying to dodge an attack, only to realize that you can point blank the boss and kill it or its projectiles before they hurt you.

Not all of them are like that. From stage 5 on it's kind of tough if you've not been spending your money on hearts and potions and such.

Finally did this. decided on hard mode, because normal is way too easy. Hard is also way too easy. On the other hand, this is the first time I've cleared hard, which is kinda cool just because it shows that I've come a long way since I was regularly playing Sturmwind and trying to clear hard.

You know, back when I was first getting into modern shmups around 2008 I totally adored this game, but now I gotta say I don't like it at all. The patterns just seem like lazy random sprays, no interesting design or beauty at all.

This game is incredibly fun, I especially like how missile is incredibly fun yet doesn't really pay off.

What stage did you make it to?
Personally my favorite weapon is the seeker, or whatever it's called. The one where the drones attach themselves to your opponent and damage them.

VBG - Strikers 1945 II - Ki84 - 1-4 - 420,300 - 3C

This is the Psikyo game I ignored, because the first stage feels all bleh and uninspired and I hate the Gunbird 2 style charge meter. But it actually gets pretty badass once the difficulty picks up. As usual with Psikyo, I feel like I played really well and really poorly at the same time.

kinda wish I hadn't put accipiter in my list. It's really easy, and I haven't really bothered figuring out a scoring strategy to keep it interesting. Bataleur is the superior mode

Been a while since I've played this game, though I guess it doesn't matter since it's random, but I didn't do too terribly. Not a high score though, or anything.
Just realized that E just stands for endless, not easy. The other endless modes are the only ones with modifier (Endless Hard, Endless Extreme, Endless Insane)

Wow, pretty awful. Definately have had better runs. I think Blue Hope is my favorite. Or maybe Eden's Edge, but Blue Hope seems a lot easier to use. It took me a while to figure this out.

Also, am I the only one who actually finds this game quite hard? it requires a lot of precision. I guess it's not as hard as a lot of things, but I can't seem to get past st. 3 with autoguard off. Not that I've put a whole lot of time, though, I suppose.

I'm kinda rusty :(. Died with full bomb stock twice, otherwise I would've made stage 10+ no problem.

My line of thought is "I can clear it so it can't be too hard". The patterns seem easier to digest than in other similar games, but maybe that is just me.

You're probably right. plus, it's entirely possible that an actual clear is a lot easier than in most games, because generally arcade shmups have such a steep difficulty curve.

I've been far too involved with Caladrius lately to roll anything, but don't worry, I won't be letting the Quickening die anytime soon :P

It's absolutely amazing how they managed to make stage 3 more frustrating than it already was. Chain died 6 times because I don't have the location of every god damn flame explosion memorized :roll: At least the music is fuckin' sweet

VBG - Soldier Blade - Final Operation - 1,690,500 - 5C

I must not have ever put any effort into this game before, because I breezed through the whole thing up until I badly mangled the sixth level, and even that didn't stop me from squeezing through to what I assume is the last boss before dying to mirror lasers. Awesome game, will get that clear asap.

^A while back we were all forced to play it on hard mode when someone completed one of the Quickening challenges. It may be breezy on normal, but hard mode is fuckin' nuts. I gotta get around to playing it more myself. The soundtrack is awesome isn't it?

Yesssss. I was gonna complain that mirror guy didn't have a proper final boss tune, but luckily the actual final boss delivered. (also, cleared 8). that final attack sure was something)

BWR+ again, but this time I switched back to defaults (e.g. autoguard on), and naturally made it much further. This game feels REALLY slow after Mars Matrix and Recca all day, but the bullets feel waythefuck too tight >_<
Also, why would you ever make continue the default option!? Especially considering that if I'm playing a shooting game, I'm gonna be tapping the A button, and the adrenaline is surely gonna make me keep tapping even after dying. I lost my score due to that :evil:
