The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Just been playing Motorstorm RC. Still the best game on the system. Sony need more of this - sensibly priced download stuff that makes a mockery of the mobile games that seek to imitate.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
They just need exclusives. When most of the games available on Vita are also available on PS3 for exactly the same price, there's little point in buying the handheld version. Especially when you take cross-buy into account.
It'll be interesting to see what difference, if any, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation makes, given that it's the first true big franchise Vita exclusive.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
To get the new 1.81 exploit for Vita, download the PSP game Gravity Crash as soon as possible, before Sony removes it from PSN.
http://wololo.net/2012/11/03/vita-teck4 ... e-exploit/
It was made public about 5 hours ago, which means it will be gone soon.
Supposedly, the new exploit will allow you to install an eCFW on your Vita, which will then allow you to boot PSP homebrew and isos.
The tools required for this new eCFW will be released in due time. In case you managed to purchase and download Gravity Crash from PSN, you should immediately make a backup of it with Open CMA (http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/1252) while leaving your Vita in flight mode (= without wirelss network connection).

Yep, them second-hand PSPs are a mere $49.99 at the local Gamestops. Whether they have 100% working LCD screen or a few dead or stuck pixels is anybody's guess. And not to mention if the LCD screen is scratched up or not (assuming if the original buyer placed an PSP microthin electrostatic screen guard beforehand). All the 2nd-hand PSPs that I saw in the glass case had some kind of electrostatic film applied on the LCD screen.gct wrote:Why don't you update your OFW?
If you want to play pirated PSP games, a 2nd-hand PSP-3000 is what, $50?
Ys Celceta will be the system seller for me. I hope it gets a localization.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Very reasonably priced. They even gave it away for free once (thanks for making a topic about that Friendly).Marc wrote:Just been playing Motorstorm RC. Still the best game on the system. Unsure about downloading Gravity Crash Portable, not sure if I can transfer it to my Vita before Sony either blacklists the game (can I still transfer the game then?) or releases a new OFW (are there any workarounds to transfer the game then?)...
My Vita is at the local post office, memory card will probably arrive sometime this week.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
I don`t think you can transfer the game if it`s blacklisted as both your PS3 and Vita need to be online for that to work. Also, there`s a 99 percent chance that the next firmware will patch the kernel exploit(which by itself is not specific to any game) that allows PSP playback which will revert the CFW to how it had been before the said exploit was discovered in September - that is, you`ll still be able to run some homebrews through VHBL, but not PSP backups. And there`s no telling how much time it`s gonna take until a new kernel exploit is discovered.ZellSF wrote:Unsure about downloading Gravity Crash Portable, not sure if I can transfer it to my Vita before Sony either blacklists the game (can I still transfer the game then?) or releases a new OFW (are there any workarounds to transfer the game then?)...
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Gravity Crash has been removed from the Japanese PSN store about 5 hours ago, the others will follow suit soon.
@ZellSF
Unfortunately you need your Vita and the memory card to get the game; downloading it with your PS3 and transferring it to your PSV after Sony has pulled it from the PSN store won't work.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
And it's gone from the EU store. Hope that everyone who wanted it managed to grab it in time. I actually expected Sony to remove it much sooner; the exploitable game was publically known for 2 days.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Fun day, going to the post office, going to Gamestop, going home, registering for a new email account, doing password recovery for my PSN account (which was registered to the non-existent email account I had to register earlier), update Vita firmware, find some way to deactivate my PSPs (Sony says people shouldn't own two PSPs and a Vita) and then finally download the game.
Which I apparently managed to do in time. That reduced my stress level by a lot
Tempted to download the Wipeout 2048 Online Pass now, don't want a OFW update to happen before the game gets to me with the Online Pass code. This is getting really expensive.
Weird how long it stayed up (is it still up?) on the US store, last time it disappeared hours before I got off work at all.
Edit: also, wow PS3 to Vita transfers are so slow.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Lucky you! Now quickly install Open CMA (http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/1252) and make a backup of Gravity Crash while leaving your Vita in flight mode.
Once you have the backup, you can always put it back on your Vita without PSN access (for instance in case you get a larger memory card).
Obviously, you must not update your Vita's firmware once Sony releases the next one.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Is there a reason to? I'm not exactly likely to delete the game or format the memory card.
Also why flight mode?
Also why flight mode?
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Flight mode in oder to make sure Sony doesn't talk with your Vita while you make the backup. If your Vita is online via wifi after the game is pulled from PSN you can no longer back it up, because then it's not shown in the list of games anymore.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Out this week, a scaled back version of a console game that seems no better than the developers previous titles (NFS) and a cut down version of a console title that was mind numbingly lacklustre to begin with (AssCreed). Oh good.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Well, I'm fairly new to Vita, so I haven't played that many games yet. Right now I'm having a blast with Super Stardust Delta. Having two analog sticks instead of just one like PSP had is awesome. Guess I'll replay the PSP Stardust game on Vita once the eCFW is released.
I have just received Uncharted Golden Abyss in the mail, next I'll get Gravity Rush, Rayman Origins and Dokuro (all ordered online; not buying digital copies of any games that have retail releases).

I assume you`ve already finished the recently released Zero Escape and Ragnarok Odyssey to be complaining about no new original games?Marc wrote:Out this week, a scaled back version of a console game that seems no better than the developers previous titles (NFS) and a cut down version of a console title that was mind numbingly lacklustre to begin with (AssCreed). More fun: I have two dead subpixels. Considering keeping it anyway, if I can make myself stop setting the background to all red or all green and staring at them for hours and hours... I need help
PSP games really look fantastic on a Vita (well compared to on a PSP). Dithering still is annoying as hell though. And I have no Vita games to play yet.
I tried demos of Katamari, Lumines and Super Stardust. They're pretty much all what I expected. Probably going to end up buying them eventually. Going to have to invest more time in the Gravity Rush demo.
Probably should try Virtue's Last Reward and Wipeout 2048 demos... even if I've already ordered the retail copies.

Pretty sure they already said no price drop this year and that there will definitely be one next year.mesh control wrote:Still no price drop in sight
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Oh that sucks. Bad situation. However, if you manage to get another Vita before Sony updates the firmware, you can link it to your PSN account and activate it, and then you'll be able to transfer Gravity Crash to it via Open CMA (even after it's long gone from the store). Or you can simply use your current memory card: As long as the new Vita is linked to the same account, all content on the card will remain accesssible.ZellSF wrote:More fun: I have two dead subpixels. Can you exchange it free of charge? If I was in your place I would definitely get another Vita; I find dead pixels supremely annoying.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Replacing it wouldn't be free, it would take some effort from me (have to ship it back to the store) and would end up costing me like 30$ and get the store more annoyed at me (I think I've sent half the stuff I've bought from them back) which I don't want to do since I like them.
Not really sure how bothered I am by dead pixels, I've never had a display with one (well I have a LCD monitor with three but it never saw much use because of unrelated problems).
Only one of them is noticeable anyway (red subpixel about 15% into the screen from the upper right corner), the other I can't see at all. I think I'll manage.
Tried the Wipeout 2048 demo. It's amazing. No surprise there. 30 FPS was a bad choice that's instantly noticable though and what's with every Vita game insisting on that framerate? Even Lumines wouldn't stay at 60 FPS :/ Can't wait for the full game to arrive. With HD & Fury content this should have been the Vita killer app, but it only ended up killing the developer.
Virtue's Last Reward demo... Less amazement, it's a story based game so it really isn't that suited for demos. awkward escape mode controls has me slightly worried.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
As mentioned before, 'Zero Escape - Virtue's Last Reward' is the sequel to 999, and as such I wouldn't play it unless unless you have completed the first game.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
I have. I actually finished it a few days ago.
Played the Gravity Rush demo, short demo but seems promising. I think I might end up buying it eventually.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Have you played Super Stardust Delta?
Re: The PS Vita Thread
I'm complaining about deeply average games, and you point me to a deeply average RPG and a visual novel/puzzler type thing, similar examples of which are available on the PC for a few quid. Cool. If this is the best you can trot out then the machine really is fucked. I'm also finding it embarrassing just how far people will go to defend their purchase and/or deny that Sonys handling of this machine so far has been an unmitigated disaster, the likes of which I haven't seen since the DC.Jonathan Ingram wrote:I assume you`ve already finished the recently released Zero Escape and Ragnarok Odyssey to be complaining about no new original games?Marc wrote:Out this week, a scaled back version of a console game that seems no better than the developers previous titles (NFS) and a cut down version of a console title that was mind numbingly lacklustre to begin with (AssCreed). Re: The PS Vita Thread
Marc, nobody here is defending anything. If you don't like your Vita, then why don't you just sell it? Do you think complaining in some random thread in some random forum will make a difference?
I am having fun with it, and I'm glad I purchased it. I just installed the exploit and am playing Cave Story, gonna try out some PSP games later. The display is indeed The Sex.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Isn't that what forums are for? I do like it, that's the frustrating thing, its a great machine that, sadly, isn't getting the support or software to makes it shine. Its been a long while since I played a Nintendo game and they're looking more appealing than the shovelware the Vita it getting at present, sadly.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Considering that you once referred to the PS3, a system with tons of good games, as a "Dark Souls player", I don`t believe Vita is ever going to get the software that could make it shine in your eyes. You`ll write everything off as unoriginal, "also on PC", being from a genre you don`t like(you`ve already admitted to not liking RPGs, racing sims, puzzlers and visual novels), or not AAA enough. It seems like you are very hard to please. As is always the case in such situations, one`s limited taste is the problem here, not the system.Marc wrote:Isn't that what forums are for? In other words, sell your Vita.

Nope. Not planning any updates unless a superior version of CFW is released(with PSX support, for example) and requires a higher version of official firmware for some reason.Friendly wrote:@Jonathan Ingram

By the way, for those who got the exploit up and running, I recommend using yMenu interface over the default one(TN CFE). It lets you access system folders(like 'savedata' where all the homebrew and PSP backups are stored) without installing PSPFiler, it`s more stable(with yMenu it`s impossible to screw things so much that you have to do a re-format) and supposedly it has higher compatibility too. Here`s where to get it:
