my problem is that I have so many fun games, it's hard to just stick with one to practice enough to 1CC. I mean, I've been practicing Darius 1 on and off for about a year, so by that time I knew the game pretty well, as well as how to manage through it.

I'm looking for another Taito 1CC though - either RayForce, RayCrisis, G-Darius, Darius Gaiden, or Darius II (fat chance the game is fucking impossible with that tiny-ass screen). I at least know RayForce like the back of my hand and that game doesn't have the flat-out idiotic rank increases of DG (and I love DG).

EDIT:
But yeah, some of the Cave games, from what I see (and play) are pretty forgiving in terms of giving you the tools to succeed (again, as opposed to DG, which gives you no tools to succeed). I don't play these games nearly as much as the top players though, so it's hard for me to fathom 1-day clears as well. Then again, I bet you that'd never happen with a Gradius game!

For what it's worth, I did literally 1cc DFK's first loop in one try (without getting the second score extend because I had no idea how the fuck score worked at the time). This is probably not worth much, though.

I cleared Mushi 1.5 Original MAX (360ver) on my third try. 8)

Meanwhile, Guwange is taking me years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years...

I cleared every game ever made without touching the controls. I put in a quarter and they saw me and were so intimidated they beat themselves and then blew their power supplies.

Not really STG related, but I pulled off a 1cc of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie [SNES] on Normal difficulty earlier. Not too much of a challenge once you figure everything out, but very fun. Hoping to get the Hard clear tomorrow or so.

Played my first credit of Futari BL Original in a couple years... lost a life on stage 2, then proceeded to 1CC the game with over 425mil.

Serious: I finally beat Cloudphobia.

I don't know what kept me from doing it before, maybe I was too lazy to put actual effort into the game...

Not technically ashmup in the strict sense of the word, but anyway, after about 20 years I finally did it:

Assault Suits Valken 1CC! :D

Akai Katana arrived three days ago; after about five hours of play (most of which was done in two chunks this evening), I just got the 1CC. Woot!

It was a very satisfying clear, which surprised me a little bit given how quickly it came about. Definitely going to have to play around with the game a lot more.

Time to go back to DOJ and Battle Garegga practice!

Congrats! I'm assuming it was the 360 port, if so, which mode? I tackled them in this order: Zetsu>Shin>Arcade.

Thanks!

Yeah, it was the 360 port. If I could afford the PCB... Well lets just say there are other games I'd rather be spending that kind of money on (eyes SDOJ longingly).

I cleared Arcade mode. The other two are really interesting, especially since they're actually in 16:9, but I haven't played around with them much just yet.

Absolutely not STG related (well, maybe a little bit?):

I got a job! Across the country! Moving out! *shock, awe!*

Also one of the guys who works there is into STG and has some nice PCBs :3

Finally cleared Deathsmiles with Windia.

Score was crap, and I'm still not convinced the PCB settings were the same as what I'm playing in MAME, since it seemed much easier ...

With a bit of practice, i was finally able to loop DFK. Had been too lazy to memorize bee locations up until now where I decided to just get that thing over with. Got a run that looped, somehow died twice on the first loop but still got to loop because I met the bee requirement.

Almost made it to the cannon in 2-5 with no prior experience on the loop stages. I can definitely see myself beat this game if I can just get some good practice in on the Omote loop levels.

Still haven't gotten the 1CC yet but I'm now able to get far into Stage 6 of Espgaluda consistently as well as have all six lives at the same time.

The 1CC is so close that I can taste it.

You've got that 1cc on lockdown. You could probably just "herp 'n derp" your way through the last stage with that many resources.

Me I'm lucky to get to the stage 3 boss on one credit when it comes to Dragon Blaze. But then again I use Sonia.

Realized I had never actually gotten a Futari BL Original 1CC, so I did. It's been a while since I did my 1.5 clear, so there were a couple dumb misses. Ended up just resource-whoring my way through Larsa because I'd never practiced her patterns at BL's bullet speed.

Overall it was pretty cool. Ended up with 437mil, which I'm okay with. :D

DDP is the only game I've 1cced (1 loop anyways) more times than I've been able to keep track of, and I STILL feel accomplished when I loop it. I've never been able to do so consistently without using bombs, and I have a horrible habit of never, ever using bombs =P

May be an old post, but still grats Deca, I know that feeling of nerves when you first clear a shmup. It's good times, and all things being relative, how it feels to you is what matters! We all started somewhere, and I know that some of my greatest feelings of video game triumph are in the grand scheme of things some of the smallest scale things. For example, the first shooter I ever 1cced was Ikaruga with like 22M points. Not terribly impressive, but I've never felt that kind of elation for accomplishing something in a video game.

Whereas getting 120M+ and the 4th stage of 2nd loop DDP doesn't do much for me anymore, but is probably a far greater accomplishment than 22M in Ikaruga haha!
