god damn it I can't escape these fucking ponies All right, I'm going to complain about my favorite place of the forums. I'm not liking where it's going. I'm not shooting this to the mods because this should be a public message. I feel like I've said parts of this before, I know I have.

Note to guys who want to run around the Hi Scores forum: chill out and listen to me when I actually have something to say (for a change), because I have some pretty good reasons for being "pedantic" or whatever you want to call it.

Note to guys who are ready to get the hell out of this place: please come to me first because I may as well be "dependable" and "expert" over here.

Both versions of Life Force (yes, that means the Salamander sprite edit, not the Gradius power-up hack) are still considered the same game in its thread. I've tried to tell the thread holder about it, and he just won't listen. No problem with having separate boards for both versions, because I don't really know what's in the US version. It's definitely not the same as the JP version, though.

When making a new thread, please don't copypaste everything and tell me that's good when it looks like complete ass. I can't even talk to one particular guy anymore because he refuses to read what I'm saying, no matter what I say (doesn't matter the subject or time) or how I say it, so I think I'm just going to give up. Darius arcade is the Big Deal, Darius Extra slightly less so; just put them in a coherent order instead of bitching about why you shouldn't listen to me. It doesn't make you any more "independent" or whatever (oh god what the hell), it just continues to look stupid and be confusing, forever, until I (hopefully) take it over. This goes for Darius II as well.

This is why I do what I do: I have been shown time and time again that those others who want to do this with me don't really know what they're doing and don't want to for a second, as well as to upgrade a lot of these older threads by people who've long since left. Giving me some sort of dictatorship over that section would be the best thing to ever happen to me right now (because my life is boring of course).

Me doing this is a great trade for not caring about playing games instead, no problem here. I'm sure you don't care for the vague, somewhat-sarcastic remarks and observations I leave literally everywhere, so it's good for me to do this. Just let me do my thing, and all will be well. If you have questions, please PM me, because I try to be here often.

Alright I've had time to think about it. I will tell you whats wrong about a 20+ something watching a stereotypical 5 year old girls fantasy cartoon and enjoying it. The problem isn't so much if the cartoon is good or not, its the fact that you watched it in the first place. My curiosity doesn't extend down those avenues and I don't understand why yours does. I am also fascinated to learn why a few of you are encouraging others to watch it as well.

In your defense I am perhaps a little nostalgic about 80's cartoons. But Dogtanion, Ulysses31, Mysterious cities of gold and D+D are about the sorts of things I watched as a kid. I didn't have a sister so I never watched anything remotely close to MLP.

I tell you something as well. If I had watched MLP as suggested. I can tell you something. If someone asked me what I did today I would be ashamed as a MF to say I watched 5 episodes of MLP. I would take it to the grave man.. Seriously.

Fundraisers that keep on calling and calling on behalf of different charities every week. Just because I donated once doesn't mean I want to keep on giving every time you guys call.

And yeah, I know they keep a big part and send it the rest to the actual charity.

How is this different from Telemarketing?

1. My Grandma constantly & randomly changing the position of the garbage-can in my room, forcing me to take awkward body position in order to score 3 pointers from my desk / rocking chair while seated and playing shooters on my PC.

2. My Grandma constantly & randomly changing the position of various miscellaneous personal stuff in my room (And the house) and driving me crazy trying to find them, when I need them and in the most crucial of moments.

3. Municipal Libraries & female librarians. Seriously these bitches are so annoying and just don't realize that their profession is obsolete and what's the point of them when every single piece of literature & written text has been digitally archived and is readily available in the Internet.
And the library it self, with all these dust infested, dirty books stocked on endless selves & impossible to find! Talk about public health hazard and head-ache generators! Thank God for PDFs & search engines!

A certain double standard I've noticed.

Why is it you never hear anyone shittalking the new style Castlevanias at all when it's not uncommon for people to be bashing the Battle Network series for being too divisive to it's predecessor? Never mind the fact it still has weapon jacking and stage select; the two main innovations that defined the series to begin with... Also:

I agree I don't want the forum to descend into a 4chan style picture parade, but never_scurred's gif posting is his forum personality and his alone. To me, that's what makes the forum's characters so colourful, and kinda reminds me of folks like Robotron (RIP) who used to do stuff like post in Engrish to all the new members.

So yeah, don't everyone jump on the bandwagon, but I'd be kinda sad to think NS's amusing gif's were neutered.

I grew up in such environment and hope for children's sake physical libraries will be around for generations to come. Also, when the power's out, you're screwed without an old fashioned book.

No, it has not been and it isn't.
Furthermore, what librarians do is only tangentially tied to physical books. Similar tasks are vital to maintaining the integrity and usability of online archives. Keyword searches are nice as far as they go, but it's unlikely that they'll ever be a substitute for a well-maintained and well-indexed collection.

No, it has not been and it isn't.

It's inevitable, it'll happen either one way or the other, sooner or later. Besides, un-officially every single book, comics and written text can be found and be downloaded from the internet. I have not bought a book for years as a result. Google tried to offer this as a free service but was stopped by the law. It wont be long until some organization manages to work around the law system and start doing this officially.

I grew up in such environment and hope for children's sake physical libraries will be around for generations to come.

It's a fact that the number of books public / municipal libraries give out are a lot less books than they used to and their numbers have decreased drastically just in the past 5 years alone.
The majority of people who hang around in libraries today are weirdos and generally old folks, very few young people or kids go to them, so when they're dead, these libraries will die with them.
And I sure hope so too! What a major waste of the tax payers money! :?
Kids should do sports rather than waste their time in libraries. When it's time to study & read books, they have the internet for that.

Also, when the power's out, you're screwed without an old fashioned book

Yeah, As if power ever goes out often.
Digital tablet books need a minimum power to operate and once fully charged they can work for a long time without the need of immediate recharge, besides, some even use AA batteries.

All modern libraries today use computer databases to search through their collections and find their books, so what's the point of these books / data being in physical form. Waste of space, money and time to search through the books selves. They're just not practical and just think of the amount of time you waste having to search page by page just to find a specific paragraph you had read years ago, when you could just use the search option with a key-word.
Also imagine of the disaster if a library should be burned to the ground, all the books would be gone for good, while in digital form they'll never be lost.

Same way that traditional arcades were replaced by online virtual arcade services and emulators, same thing will happen to libraries.

To clarify things, I don't give a damn whether or not you have any use for libraries. It's pretty obvious to me that you represent the culture I don't want to have anything to do with. I just want the libraries to be around as rad places full of awesome stuff.

That and the fact that the fucking cases are busted on probably at least 50% of US Saturn games (if you care about that).

Other than Panzer Dragoon Saga, which ones do you mean? There's not really a lot of demand for US games and I bought and sold a ton of them for pennies on the dollar back when I still had a region-switched NA Saturn.

Mostly the more popular titles like Shining Force III, Shining the Holy Ark, Guardian Heroes, Magic Knight Rayearth, Darius Gaiden etc.

US copies can go for 50 dollars or more for some of these titles, while it isn't unusual to see the respective Japanese versions sitting around 10 dollars!

Dude, that's a complete no-brainer. RPG's in Japan usually have little to no value because they're in Japanese, whereas the translated versions are highly sought after (cos western folks can read 'em, n' stuff.)

Just goes to show how the western interest in Japanese software has a large influence on its value, even in Japan.

Language doesn't come into it. There's a crap ton more copies of, say, Shining Force III Scenario 1: Outo no Kyoshin compared to the US release.

Darius Gaiden has very little Japanese in it (if any at all, I can't remember). Still the US version is worth more than the JPN one.

Sorry, I didn't make the statement clear: I was talking about Saturn RPG's only.

I can't see much reason for other US Saturn games to command higher prices - I certainly wouldn't seek to buy them at any rate.
