Estebang wrote:All the localization/translation work has been done for a long time. As far as we know, the delays are entirely due to Microsoft rejecting approval for the game, presumably more than once. A Konami rep unofficially revealed this at E3.

Every submission for approval costs the publisher a non-refundable $10,000, so if it gets rejected again that will almost certainly be the last straw.
Maybe it's a little more than the 50,000 production run issue, maybe Microsoft doesn't want to see this game on the shelves at all. I'm probably wrong, but this game should've been released months ago. Someone from the press should ask Konami and Microsoft what gives with the constant delaying of the game.

Konami said on Facebook that they can't and won't comment on the game's release details until they're allowed to. We only know about the rejections because some guy staffing their E3 booth was quietly asked a question, and figured he could get away with it.

Every time something like this happens I get a little more angry at modern gaming. We've made so many steps forward while throwing so much other stuff under the bus. This game has creepy sex pillows. It'll sell enough copies. Or it won't, big deal. Someone needs to grow a pair and take a risk for once.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

It must kinda stink to be somehow contractually barred from talking about your own game even after it's been finished.

Microsoft's current philosophy of retail 360 games seems to be that anything that sells under half a million is a complete failure.

Then they shouldn't release ANY 360 games in Japan. Not one game has even sold half that amount over there. :P

I was specifically referring to the US: Microsoft Japan is a whole different animal.

It's sad that Microsoft's gaming division has degenerated to this level--in the early days of the Xbox, they were actively encouraging and promoting the development of stuff like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Gunvalkyrie and JSRF. I'd bet a few people in charge then saw the new console as an opportunity to carry on the Dreamcast legacy.

Wow. This was not at the top of my list, but I did plan on buying a copy. I hope they can get this business resolved and release the damn thing.

Great times while they lasted... I've still got an Xbox1 for those, the Otogis, OutRun 2 and NG Black.

Right as I was about to order, it gets pushed back again. I'm about ready to give up on it...if it gets pushed back anymore, I'm going to waste my time with DFK instead.

I heard there was an update for the Japanese version of Otomedius X recently, anyone know what was changed? It may (or may not) provide insight into the issues that keep pushing the release date back in the west.

Hmm, I'll definitely have to take a look tonight. Personally I'm hoping for some tweaks to make bullets more visible during the sequences with yellow/orange backgrounds.

This. All projectiles on all stages don't stand out enough.

Bump:

Significant changes to the hitbox. The collision hitbox (ship physically touching something) is much larger and now reacts to some larger laser weapons.

oh my god, the Sheild hitbox is larger than Diol Twee's chest.

Edit:

Bosses APPEAR to have more HP, some of them still go down too easy, but at least it's not as bad as it was.

I'm a little disappointed that she's not a leather-clad hairy French man.

Any way, it looks like the release date hasn't changed, the latest patch makes it better, and I've been on a Gradius kick lately. Should I just have Poison of Snake on repeat until it comes out, or would that destroy my mind too much to handle this?

Hey, guess what fellow Shmup fans, Otomedius Excellent will come after all in the US, and hopefully on the 1st (plz, no delays, lol), for further proof, here's the link, and the only thing that's there for now is the compatabilty pack (Free) for the Gamestop Pre-order DLC (T-301 Vic Viper) to use online.

http://bit.ly/rrKiuV

English translated Achs also added on x360a, which makes this official. But might be stackable like DeathSmiles NA/PAL/JP.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game ... ievements/

Also the description...

It's time to SHOOT THE CORE in this all-new Gradius-style shooter, featuring the lovely ladies of OTOMEDIUS in their first North American appearance.

Also, I think this is what the special edition would look like. The same cover art, but probably in a bigger box with the Pillowcase, Artbook, and Soundtrack. 8)

If these Achievements are stackable, this is going to be the easiest 1000 gamerscore I ever got.

The hard one was finding the last weapon card, and even that is now relatively easy because I put that shit into a wiki page for everyone to see.

Kokoro looks like she'll be broken as hell if you put the time in to get her Beam Whip up to Lv3. Not quite Esmeralda in Otomedius G Broken but pretty broken.

The new patch makes the game much more difficult. Kokoro came along and fixed that.

They have a no-pillowcase-attached version for 30 bucks.
