Parodius is back? Showing at AOU 2007: Otomedius!
Well uh you definitely can't get all weapon cards in 5 minutes that way.
Anyway I agree with your other points though, this game is garbage. It's actually quite funny really, I rarely see a game that's average in every single category; the art, gameplay, level design, weapons, characters, sound, graphics, online co-op, achievement distribution, touchscreen feature, even the rankings fail since you can't see other people's replays. Jesus christ.

It would be nice to have in general.

Any hints on the 'touch the angels' achievements?
During character select screen or stage result after each stage in G-mode:
Use the right analog stick to move the feather cursor onto the character portrait.
Press A for 5, 57, 573 times while pointing at them (faces, boobs, waist, legs, whatever~~).
You'll know if you are doing it correctly if they keep talking when you continuously click.
Keep doing this everytime until you do the total of 573 times.

i just got my 573 mintues achievement and i achievement whored the hell out of this game...so far 800/1000 and im grinding out the original mode for random cards and now i noticed i have a full gallery of 106 cards(gorgeous mode) that i must purchase for my character. grinding is quite tedious..anyways, i cant believe i put such much time in this game in a short matter of time because of the achievements. lol

wow.. this game is really really bad. ridiculous slowdown in places for no reason. even some of the front end scenes have slowdown.
dunno if there's an update for this if you are connected online but optical out audio also has some nasty crackling/noise... its not my cable - it's the only game I have that does it...
the whole thing seems 80% finished.

what sux is that Konami spent man-hours on this and not the legacy of Gradius VSonic R wrote:If its not Cave, it sux.Shelcoof wrote:question did you enjoy Thunderforce VI?pixelcorps wrote:wow.. this game is really really bad. ridiculous slowdown in places for no reason. even some of the front end scenes have slowdown.

So has anyone found out how to access the fifth stage in arcade mode (Isla da Pescua)?
After playing Gorgeous mode six times for the achievements I have to say that Arcade mode is far better and I don't think I will play Gorgeous mode anymore.

And still waiting for Taito to get their act together and bring some next-gen Darius with screen-sized mechanical fishes.

NOW REACHES THE FATAL ATTRACTION BE DESCRIBED AS "HELLSINKER". DECIDE DESTINATION.
I finally figured out how to use the touch feature and how the scoring system of this game works:
When you charge up your bomb the picture freezes. Now you can move your crosshair with the left stick. It will make a big detonation where you have placed it. With the right stick / touchpad you can move your options. They will make smaller detonations. So basically you can have detonations on five positions on the screen.
The scoring: You get more points for enemies destroyed by the detonations. Also every enemy destroyed by it will leave one or more power up items. You also get points for every power up item collected.
So basically charge up your bomb, wait until the screen is full of enemies and release the bomb. Move your crosshair and the four options to all enemies on screen. Then collect all powerup items and immediately fill up your burst with them. Now repeat the whole process. For maximum score try not to shot any enemies but to destroy all of them with your burst attack. You can also milk the bosses by destroying the enemies they release upon you with your burst and not to shot directly on the bosses.
I think at the end of the level you will also get more points and a better rank depending on how much power up items you have collected.
And of course you should play every stage on expert. It's indeed easier than you might think because if you destroy all incoming enemies immediately with your burst attack they don't have much time to release bullets.
With this method you can get 1 million points or more on each stage. But it needs a lot of work and memorizing.
Sadly most top players in the online ranking haven't saved their replays but one player who is on rank 11 I think has saved (you can see an R left of his name) and you can download and watch his replay to see how the scoring works.
This works only for Arcade mode as there is no burst attack in Gorgeous.

I stopped playing this game after realizing how much freakin time I have to invest just to collect all the cards for just one character. Its gonna take forever. Sadly enough, I will not go back playing this game and it was a a fun ride while it last. I give it a 6/10. Raiden 4 blows this game out of the water.

Yeah I estimate something like 200 plays in boring fucking original mode to get the last achievement. All with the same character. That is awful. Should've made the cards available in gorgeous mode, which I think is actually passably fun.PsikyoPshumpPshooterP wrote:I stopped playing this game after realizing how much freakin time I have to invest just to collect all the cards for just one character. Think I'll pick up R4 when it gets cheaper.

Yeah, I managed to use those techniques awhile back to get a score of 1 million with one expert level ->normal -> normal, but bleh...making scoring reliant on strategic bombing hobbles the shit out of the game. All the waiting...if it were at least like Ibara and had immediate bombs that'd be one thing.antares wrote:I finally figured out how to use the touch feature and how the scoring system of this game works:
Cards that you buy with your Gorgeous mode points work towards your collection, original mode and Gorgeous mode share the same weapon pool.adversity1 wrote: Yeah I estimate something like 200 plays in boring fucking original mode to get the last achievement. From what I've seen, shooters don't really decrease in price since the print runs are limited and the hardcore fans buy and keep them. I guess Otomedius sold really well so you can find used copies no problem, but I very rarely see a used copy of RFA, although I run across Shiki 3 every once in awhile, usually around 4000-5000yen.
pixelcorps said he saw loads of 2nd hand copies on the previous page. I don't think there's much chance of this becoming a cult collectible. I don't say that with any sort of glee, because I was hoping this was going to be a decent game, but judging by most peoples reactions, it isn't. Buying it would seem to be a case of buying it just for the sake of owning another shmup, which I never abide by.

Yeah but the character portrait cards can only be gotten in Original mode. Weapons I already have.originalz wrote:

I've also seen R4 for as low as 4,200 yen in Nipponbashi. I guess you're right that it might not dip much lower below that.
