Heorge Garrison- Shortridge ep

For fans of aphex twin/squarepusher style beat fuckery. No one knows who the artist actually is, so, like The Tuss and Steinvord releases, people are speculating about who is actually behind this gem. Aphex twin did play one of these tracks recently in a live set, so grab a copy if you're interested before it sells out and becomes stupid expensive.

Best lyrics:
Ensnared
Digitally mapped
Virtual scan reveals
Art of war
Technology adapts
Location confirmed unconcealed

Target code
Assigned
Destructively
Inclined

Ensnared
Database of death
No chance of escape
Caught within the mainframe killchain
I love how Karl managed to work out the salient features of the situation; he boils it down to how it would play out when facing essentially an algorithm - scary to think but yep that is what it boils down to.

Imagine being a 'job' slotted into some machine's linked-list - scary :D

If you fancy seeing the other side of this, have a read of Keith Laumer's Bolo stories. It is quite cool how he writes from the machine's perspective:

I like synthwave but some of it is really kind of generic. You listen to enough of it, it all starts to sound like the same shit. I have a rule where if I can't tell it apart from any other synthwave, I don't bother saving it ..

Anyway, here's some definitely not synthwave .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ8Qx2zGDEI

I get the same feeling from death metal: Hairy dude spouting animal growls with some decent to good background guitars.

"Inspired by his passion for 70's and 80's euro horror soundtracks, Karate King fluctuates between the macabre and beautiful to the downright perverse in these retro-sounding, yet timeless compositions."

Various Metallica bootlegs, in chronological order.

The reduction in swearing in recent years is devastating (particularly the transition from "fuck yeah" to "oh yeah") but they still sound good.
I don't understand why they don't perform more songs live; recent concerts are similar to the point of boredom and whole albums are completely neglected.

Most of Lucien Foort's output on vinyl, the sort of House that makes me crave a huge joint.

First track is wicked - the description's J.Carpenter+Goblin doing New Beat is right on. Can just picture an opening credits sequence in my mind... badass sleeve art too!

Glad you liked it. I actually discovered that John Carpenter himself has published some albums in bandcamp, might want to check those out: https://johncarpentermusic.bandcamp.com/

Yeah, he's quite the accomplished musician ("We got biiig trouble" / "In little chiii-na!"). I hear he's got a pretty solid live gig record, too.

The RedLetterMedia guys had some interesting stories of how he'd score his films, on their Halloween commentary track. Basically jamming along to the unscored footage, and piecing things together from there. Apparently Ennio Morricone wasn't entirely happy with how his contributions to The Thing ended up being used by JC, but that combo of mournful strings and icy synths, god damn does it work.

Past the ridiculous, over the top goats-raping-women intro, you will find an extraordinary piece of blackened trash. This album is so good in fact that it as worked it's way as one of my very favourite metal albums ever, all sub-genre included.

This is fucking excellent stuff

They did a nice album in 1999 that I liked, but checking out this comeback or whatever you'd like to call it. This is really really nice.
