Yeah, I've noticed that while reading Retro Gamer. Always thought it was irritating that they considered a 1v1 fighting game the same genre as a side-scrolling beat 'em up. In my mind rhythm games are more formal than that. You have to play songs, not just press buttons to a generic, constant beat.

Doesn't sound like a HDD issue [there'd be clicking], but I dunno. Waiting for Xubuntu to download on my other machine so I can make a boot USB and see what's up.

Not really a major issue, most important shit is backed up/easily obtainable, should be an easy fix [as far as I know -- I might just simply have to install GRUB to the drive to boot, but if the HDD is on the fritz, that'd be a more major problem -- don't feel like having to buy a new HDD]. Just annoying as fuck.

This shit happened on another machine of mine a while back that had Vista -- worked fine every day. Sure, it was Vista, and I'd seen the horror stories, but my machine actually handled it.

...and then one day, it just decided to not start up.

I had this happen on a live gig once. It turned out to be my digital camera that I had plugged in to charge it and my BIOS startup order was USB->CD-ROM->HDD, so it tried to boot from the camera storage. Man, did I freak out.
