Hm. I hope this might presage either a freshening-up of ACA:NG, or even a return to ACA for SNK. Encouraging sign, either way.

Yeah. Exciting news indeed, maybe it will reach outside of Neo Geo titles? Online Sunset Riders please?
Can already imagine myself sitting in a lobby for 35 minutes straight, waiting for a friendly soul. Lol

Lol the online multiplayer initiative is ps5/xsx only?

What a lame 10th anniversary gotta say. Console archives or 3d games will never come at this rate lol

I also got an email today announcing Taito Milestones 3, which we knew about a while ago. Seems to also have some games to be revealed later.

Nobody does it better  "Whoaaa... OWAAAA!"
Wow. I just watched it. Note how those are all old people but the hype they feel and the excitement they show, compare that to your average (young) western AGDQ crowd! I consider those people enthusiasts (otherwise why would they attend such an event like AGDQ in person), yet still they all sit there as if they are braindead and have no idea what's going on. Looking all depressed, anxious, tense, and socially awkward. Showing no reactions, only clap for a second when they are told, after an entire run.

Makes me feel ashamed to be white. Well, fortunately times have changed and nowadays everybody can be whatever they want. So I guess from now on I can just identify as Japanese if I don't like being white anymore. 8)

Taito Milestones 3 is definitely more interesting! Hopefully they'll finally do Gekirindan - no shoot 'em ups yet but what's announced so far is solid:

The whole selection is not that great so far (in terms of first time on consoles). Unless they are planning on doing Vol. 4, 5, and 6. However, I am pleased about Thunder Fox!

God gekirindan would easily be the best Taito get for ACA period, unless they also wrangle Twin Cobra II. I’d throw the money at a ACA version for either the milisecond it went live lol

It looks like it's going to be a third entirely separate line, with people who own stuff in the ACA:NG branch receiving a discount for purchasing titles in what's going to be known as ACA:NG2.

On the one hand, I know that massive, retroactive updates for features isn't all that likely. They're not going to up and announce, "Hey, we're going to backport rewind functionality and multiple save states to all existing titles, fo' free!" sometime after lunch tomorrow.

On the other hand, this has a bit of the air of adding a netcode hat to Malibu Stacy and hoping that Smitherses keen enough to pick up the first edition will pony up a second time because... they don't know how to set up Fightcade?

In the long term, online capability for all 2p games would definitely be neat, but it wasn't what drew me to this series.
And at first blush being asked to buy something a second time doesn't sit well.
But I'll be happy to eat those words if both the rollback and discounts don't blow goats.

I have posted several times that I wanted Thunder Fox.

I will have a conniption fit if it fails to release on the NA PSN / eShop like F/A and Finest Hour.

You know what? I just remembered, just as I suspected Rastan 2 would inexplicably beat its predecessor to ACA, I was privately resigned to seeing Taito's other Roly Poly Daisakusen first.

By that, I of course mean... Image

All credit to BBH-sama. He will explain it better than I ever could!

Now, I have never played Crime City. It might be great! But I'm not a gambling sort. Image I like my RolyPoly-ryuu certain and lethal, executed from directly overhead!
...having typed all that, I'd get a good laugh if CC actually beats TF to its ACA release.

Aha, I'd wondered about the "NG2" moniker!

What I'm really interested in here, if I've not misread, is this being Hamster's first PS5/XB1-exclusive venture. I'm glad they're taking it easy, it's a pace that's served them (and us) invaluably. But I wonder if it'll be the first step in something bigger... F3/GX/SPI/MS32 emulation, perhaps. And of course all the Namco Systems I can never recall the exact names of. Cyber Sled boyeee!

tbh, I'm pretty happy with my existing ACA:NG pickups. All they really need is variable autofire, and more macros, where applicable (Spin Master's slide input is tragically annoying). But I've relied on external solutions for years now, so even that's not such a big deal.

But I do like the sound of Hamster taking some time off from expanding their already-vast lineup to curate a little. If they ever take advantage of current-gen's VRR capabilities, I'll be on that like white on rice. Image

Thunder Fox Genesis port being mediocre still stings. They should include a fixed-up version! Nah, that's M2 territory, isn't it? lol.

Getting Crime City would be awesome yeah.

I just felt like playing some Twinkle Star Sprites and it's gone. On PS4 at least (North American store). I was not able to find it and then I checked here and it is gone too: http://www.hamster.co.jp/american_hamst ... ist_ng.htm

Maybe this is another surprise due to the anniversary?

Edit: It is still on the JP store. But I really wonder why it was removed from the other one. Can anybody confirm?

Hm, you're right; doesn't seem to be on the US title list anymore, or PSN. That sucks. :/ Will have to look into this stuff for the index. Doesn't seem to be reflected on the ACA Wiki page, but they seem pretty on-the-ball, so I imagine it will be before long. Assuming it's not some temporary cockup.

I wondered if it might be an ADK thing, but everything else seems to be still up.

You probably already know, but the Japanese PSN version includes the English ROM, so there's that at least! Not the same without sweet tacos.

Thank you for confirming. I decided to get the game from the JP store and funnily X and O are still swapped here. I guess because it's from before that time when Sony decided to make "X = confirm" and "O = cancel" a worldwide standard, even in Japan, where circle was always confirm and X was back/cancel. Not a nice move towards the Japanese players I'd say. But it's in line with their statement to focus on AAA. I hope Sony will learn it the hard way. They always get cocky as soon as they do well.

Stalwart Taito Knife Dudes, they'll take on anything with just they trusty blade. ;w;7 As iconic as DECO Jetpack Dudes but infinitely more suicidal!

I want nothing more than a proper Ninja Warriors 2, where the stage 1 intro is your characters and Badass Rivals doing a Guilty Gear clash that shatters every window in sight, the shockwave exploding some nearby troops Akira-style, and the hundred knife dudes in the BG just go "OH GOD, FUCK THIS" and run away never to be seen again. That's some generational trauma in need of addressing!

It's still up on the US Switch eShop: https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/produ ... es-switch/

Maybe pulled specifically for PSN for some reason - some kind of technical certification issue, discovered a security vulnerability, etc. I initially wondered if an absence could have been due to some licensing issues with publishing rights going to dotemu as of some date, since I know dotemu did the Steam "version" (if you can say that about poor emulation) - and the reason we never got Windjammers ACA Neo Geo is almost certainly due to dotemu having the rights from their (actually not bad) modern remastered version. But that doesn't appear to be the case for TSS.

What are the best display settings to get an integer scale for crispiest pixels?

I know about setting the screen filter to “negative one” to eliminate blur, but what about ratio and size?
