Recommended Anime/Manga?
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
finished Blue Submarine No 6 and I'm glad - in a bad way
at first episode I was like 'ffs just explain what's going on!'
then 2nd and most of 3rd episode I was willing to forget my questions as action was ace,
however fourth (and longest) episode quickly dived into pseudo-philosophical melodrama, and trust me
I can handle a lot of that, but this was just total :s.
It's one of those anime that can at sometimes feel like it really has a cool mood or feel and you get these flashes or glimpses that make
you think it will be amazing, but then they aren't. And in some ways these are more infuriating then just straight 100% shitty anime.

PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

Didn't really feel Kill la Kill either. I liked the boss designs, but everything else is obnoxiously noisy, the fanservice is crude and I don't really want to see this shit from the studio that made LWA.
I'd just watch Kyosogiga if I wanted a dose of cuhrayzee. At least it has good animation and isn't peppered with forced fanservice.

FUCK.
YAMATO 2199.
So. Good.
I'm already at the end of the English fansubbed episodes... Now I actually have to wait for the new episodes to be released and then translated before I can enjoy more of the show.
This hasn't happened to me in so long that I'm at a loss for words here. Normally I only get into shows that have already finished.
In all seriousness though, I'm really enjoying this. It's just outright awesome. And I am definitely going to pick up some model kits... :3

Don't know what people think here of Saint Seiya, but after finally 75 episodes (some good, some bad) of Omega, IKKI IS BACK (and in good Saint Seiya fashion, will probably die again protecting Shun and coming back from the dead again before the series end).
Oh, and he was inside a fucking volcano the whole time.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
halfway through Tiger & Bunny I like it very - art style is a bit too ultra clean or something but I love the story and script (not into the ads though o_O).
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I heard some good things about Kill la Kill, so I tried watching the first couple episodes. It's probably the most over the top thing I've ever watched, and for once I say this in a negative way. There is no real reason for everything being so loud and extreme, it just comes off as if the script was written entirely in caps lock. I don't think I'll proceed.
Thanks for reminding me about this one, I've been meaning to watch it for a while but somehow forgot about it.Softdrink 117 wrote: FUCK.

Watched the first episode some days ago and I too found it to be way over the top for its own good. After it was over I was like "Eh, I'm too old for this shit".PedroMD wrote:I heard some good things about Kill la Kill, so I tried watching the first couple episodes. Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Just finished watching Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince. I... liked it, actually. The story is bland and choke-full of cliches, but I'll be damned if I said I have ever seen better mecha battles in an anime. I'd recommend this show to anyone who likes traditional mecha shows and doesn't mind a plot that is about as intelligent as TTGL. Don't quit watching too fast if you didn't like it; the writing in this show never become very good, but it's exceptionally shitty in the first few episodes and does improve a bit later.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
75 episodes already?!! I have some catch up to do, only watched the first couple of episodes of Omega back in 2012... The original Saint Seiya is a fan favorite here in Brazil, my blood boils just from hearing the first few notes of Pegasus Ryuseikensoprano1 wrote:Don't know what people think here of Saint Seiya, but after finally 75 episodes (some good, some bad) of Omega, IKKI IS BACK (and in good Saint Seiya fashion, will probably die again protecting Shun and coming back from the dead again before the series end).

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Is Omega any good? From what I heard it pales compared to the original.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
IMO, the first season was great. The second one (airing now) isn't as good, but the cameos have been really great.Ruldra wrote:Is Omega any good? From what I heard it pales compared to the original.
Also, this is supposed to be a sequel to the tv series, meaning the Hades arc didn't take place, but the producers forgot that and made it look like some sort of Hades arc took place (i think?).

Ahaha, I just read Gyo by Junji Ito. Laughing now. Who knew such delights were in store from looking up the origin of "Th...this is my hole! It was made for me!" Pretty girls with black rings around their eyes.
Edit: Also took the couple minutes to see the "Bat Man of Shanghai" shorts. I don't get what people find so exciting about this. Stereotyped and with the usual lack of characterization I've come to expect from CN-overseen shorts. Commence the meaningless flailing of appendages! The character designs were great, but why did they waste so much precious screen time on the badly-voiced (and drawn) fat woman and the shadow puppets (which also took me out of the scene because, unless I'm mistaken, they aren't really a thing on river barges in China in the '30s).

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Just finished Another(except for the OVA, which I'm going to watch right now). Nice stuff, no regrets not dropping it. It starts really slow but by episode 5 it's full steam ahead(which isn't particularly fast here anyway) until the end, the Final Destination motif is not my cup of tea either, but it just manages the atmosphere very well and keeps you on your toes most of the time.
Possible spoiler in the small letters Did Matsunaga really meet Reiko before the beach episode? Somehow I can't stop thinking that perhaps he... you know
Edit: that's it, done with the OVA. Don't know what to do with the feels now.

Gyo starts off pretty awesome, but towards the end it kinda jumps the proverbial walking shark. The whole carnival bit kinda pissed me off and ruined it for me.Ed Oscuro wrote:Ahaha, I just read Gyo by Junji Ito. Laughing now. Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Currently watching 3 series as they come out weekly, I recommend all three;
1. Phi Brain no Puzzle, 3rd season is airing
2. Valvrave the liberator, 2nd season is airing
3. Kill la kill, first season
Just finished watching Angel links for the sake of completion (I'm a huge outlawstar fan and Angel links is its' spin off)
as well as Hyperdimension Neptunia, so cute and SDOJ-ish
edit: I forgot to mention Gundam Build Fighters

VVV Season 2 has started? - I must check - dunno how much wtf I can take though o_O.
I watched the first ep of Kill la Kill last night, I certainly liked it artwise, the texture on the boxer guys gloves was cool and an example of using something
digital well IMO. Also I loved all the Ashita No Joe and indeed Blazing Transfer Student feel to it. I love TTGL so the art pleased me in general. Don't really know what I think of the actual story and script yet though...
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I'll probably be flamed for saying I'm watching Yowamushi Pedal, but I'm enjoying it and have episode 3 to watch tonight. I wonder how somebody on such a heavy bike can get up the hills he can. ohh wait, I know that from experience of having a mountain bike to ride on rides for many years. Not really watching much else this season though.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Watched the first episode of the Kill la Kill gag sub by DameDame.
Vaguely interested in the actual series now. A friend of mine was watching it with me and I mentioned how the animation looked like three separate teams being juggled every few seconds -- the "A-Team", which looked great and had lots of little details everywhere, the "CG-Team", who would pretty much render everything with CGI [didn't look too bad actually], and the D-Team, where we were wondering where all the frames of animation went.
but christ, her outfit is so damn silly and I'm not sure if I can bring myself to let my heroine fight with nearly nothing on and wielding half of a giant scissor blade
I do like how over-the-top the animation was. Nearly ruined my voice doing loud, dramatic yellings of all the poorly translated and/or rewritten lines in the sub - had to stop 2/3ds of the way in.

Shit makes Yoko's outfit from TTGL seem prudish, jeez.

God, the 4th episode of Kill la Kill is atrocious, funny but atrocious, full of flash animation. TTGL dejavu.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
finished The Rose Of Versailles manga - brilliant from start to finish, I think the main differences is there's pretty much a whole 2 volumes after a REALLY MONUMENTAL EVENT, which pretty much ends the anime from what I remember.
I also even liked the gaiden, although it was a bit different in mood to the main story, from the minute minute the woman's name was Elisabeth though, I knew it was gonna be full on Bathory central, which was cool.
I think there's slightly more beautiful/dreamy/romantic bits in the manga, possibly because they rely so much on saying what the character is thinking, which would get a bit weird if you did it too much in the anime.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Having not watched an anime since Darker than Black, I decided to sit down and enjoy one, and was recommended Madoka Magica by a friend. Upon finding it and seeing the cover, I thought, "Really, this show is what you recommend me?"
... and now I am hopelessly hooked on it.
Show seriously caught me by surprise.
