The 3DS's sceen COMPARED to the Vita's sucks flat out. That OLED display is gorgeous.

This place has gotten so crotchy. Who cares, the PSP started off rocky also and alot of folks on here claim it's game collection sucks also . But I really enjoyed it.

There isn't that much on the 3DS I am climbing the walls for either. I could care less about 3D rehashes. I want the new castlevania, kid icarus, resident evil, hmm.. i'm sure their are a few others but those are off the top of my head. But I do like the 3DS also.

HUGE DIFFERENCE.
What? The screen size is of irrelevance here. It`s the resolution that matters(Friendly already covered this).
If you bought the launch 3DS, you blew it.
Not really. 96 ppi for 3DS XL compared to 133 ppi for normal 3DS.

Talk about DPI is just mind boggling on a forum like this. that lovely screen looks lovely as long as its playing Vita games. PSP games look like shit on it.

And yes, the PSP had a slow start. It also had new installments of a few good series as well as some excellent comps. Vita has... PSP games. And Motorstorm RC. And I know that sarcasm over the internet is a funny thing, but the comment about the Neo Pocket was, right? Hard to tell sometimes.

And Skykid summed up perfectly my feelings about the latest new release. If thats news, the machine is fucked. It isn't going to outsell the PsP because phones are a threat that machine didn't have to deal with.

This is a joke, right? You`re dismissing games because they are not system specific? It`s a good thing that most people don`t think that way. Monster Hunter 3G is the highest selling third-party 3DS game in Japan despite being an updated port of the Wii game. Similarly, Persona 4 Golden is the highest selling Vita game in Japan right now at 260,000 copies sold.
And yes, the PSP had a slow start. It also had new installments of a few good series as well as some excellent comps. Vita has... PSP games.
PSP got popular because of Monster Hunter Portable games, the first three of which(MHP, MHP2 and MHP2G) were ports/remixes of Monster Hunter G and Monster Hunter 2 for the PS2. It did have many original games, but none made even close to the same impact produced by MonHun. MHP2G and MHP3rd have sold way over 4 million copies each and are in fact the only PSP games in Japan to have exceeded 1 million mark in sales.

If HD ports of PSP and 3DS Monster Hunter games were suddenly announced as coming to Vita, that would be much better news for the platform than an announcement of a hundred original games.

I'm sort of disappointed looking at Demon Gaze. Experience has always used somewhat realistic looking protagonists for Generation XTH and Students of Round. But this latest game is almost unabashedly loli. That said, I'll probably get the game anyway just to support the genre.

Experience's dungeon crawlers are the cream of the crop right now; it's not at all like The Dark Spire, a weak title that shouldn't have been localized. It actually *will* move systems among the hardcore dungeon crawler crowd but the overall effect will naturally be very minor.

No joke, sorry. Did you buy one to play watered down ports of home titles and PS1 games? The former I'll play at home, the latter was already covered by the PSP.

Your nuts...

Why do folks get so pissed that someone may like their Vita. It's like "NO I HATE IT, HOW DARE YOU BE ABLE TO LIKE IT!!!!"

I like both the 3DS and the Vita. I don't get all bent out of shape when someone brings up the 3DS has a more robust game selction. It's true and it should b/c it's been out longer, It came out in the USA in March 2011 and the Vita in Feb of 2012. That's a years worth of games. The Vita isn't even a year old yet. I don't see how anyone in their right mind could even begin to say the Vita doesn't have a considerably better screen. I mean by ALOT. That doesn't mean the 3DS sucks. Everything has pros and cons.

System wars are stupid.... Choose your flavor and shut up. You don't see everyone in a mall's food court at each others throat b/c everyone won't go to the same food outlet. Grow up.

There is alot of griping over it. It's not one sided though.

If you don't want one and don't own one... why come to the Vita thread other than to troll.

Because Sony PR makes it so damn easy.

The 3DS's library is still far from fulfilling. After I get through RE Revelations I'm not sure what else I'm interested in. Both Shinobi and NSMB2 have become a lot less compelling of late.

An AMOLED screen is always going to be absolute sex, I just got a Galaxy S3 Mame'd up with Saturn USB connectivity and it really is incredible. I don't think Marc is downplaying the Vita's technical achievements, just that there's little on it that's either original or inspiring in terms of what he wants to play/see.

@Skykid

Pointing out that Vita`s qHD screen is better than what the 3DS has got in a thread dedicated to Vita is hardly what I would call Sony PR.

Strider77 wrote:It's still an infant, It's always like this the first year for the most part. I was that way for the 360 and PS3 for me.
I don`t want to be the harbinger of bad news(not that it can even be considered news anymore), but Vita`s been doing pretty horrible recently. Like, even worse than before:

Japan HW sales October 8-14(tracked by Media-Create):

3DS - 79,300
PS3 - 26,312
PSP - 15,585
Vita - 6,134
Wii - 4,476
360 - 2,400

Japan HW sales October 15-21

3DS - 60,232
PS3 - 21,354
PSP - 15,575
Vita - 6,791
Wii - 4,035
360 - 2,150

Note that last week Vita had 2 games charting in Top 10(The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki Evolution and Little Battlers eXperience W) and yet the hardware sales remained horrendous. The situation is only going to get worse. No significant software is scheduled for Vita in the foreseeable future. Soul Sacrifice, Phantasy Star Online 2, Tales of Hearts R and Gods Eater 2 are Q1 2013 at the earliest.

For serious, I never realised how powerful Android tech is (got the Jelly Bean update today and the quad core processor is flying.) Playing smooth as butter SF 2nd Impact on AMOLED via Mame4Droid via Saturn USB is quite a thing. I'm considering getting a DS3 for wireless Bluetooth connectivity as well. Also, there's emulators for everrryyything on here.

No hate here man. I love the machine, I'm dismayed that Sony seem to be hell bent on treating it like a ginger stepchild. This is gonna be Japans Atari Jaguar unless something changes, quickly. Not only doesn't the machine have that killer game that makes folks pockets itchy, but there isn't even a sniff of one incoming.

What`s the point in hooking up a gamepad to a handheld device? Wouldn`t it be better to use a PC for that purpose?

As an alternative to trying to play emulators on a touchscreen, the worlds worst gaming interface (and the benefits of portability of course.)

But that implies that you have to carry a gamepad with you wherever you go. It kind of defeats the purpose of handheld devices.

Nah, I nearly always have a pad on hand anyway. Just means I get to play arcade games on an AMOLED screen rather than busting out and firing up the laptop all the time. It'll be even more convenient with the DS3's bluetooth.

I almost forgot about my Vita! Thanks to this thread for the reminder. Beautiful system. I only wish that there were a more interesting srpg than Disgaea 3, which has been disappointing for its lack of challenge.

As I recently moved, I've put my home consoles in storage, leaving me with just my handhelds (GB Micro, DSi, PSP, 3DS and Vita) to play. However, the only one that has been getting any time is the Vita.

I've mainly been playing Street Fighter X Tekken, Silent Hill: Book Of Memories and FIFA Football, all of which I'm enjoying immensely. FIFA is great online and I've had some epic matches with randoms, today's 6-4 victory as Arsenal against Bayern probably my favourite yet.

I hadn't really given my Vita the attention it deserved before now, only really having played MGS 2 & 3, but in a way I'm glad I'm sans-PS360 at the moment because it's a lovely piece of kit with some good games on it. I hope it sells well in the end because Sony has got so much right with the Vita, it would be a shame to see it fail.
Be attitude for gains:
1) Be praying...
2) Be praying...
3) Be praying...

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

That's a great price, though it's local pickup only and no international shipping, I take it?. Anyway, I already bought one a while ago. Awesome piece of hardware; definitely aimed at adult gamers; no surprise that kiddies prefer 3DS. I'm very happy with my PS Vita; starting to pick up games for it now. One can only hope that Sony continues to support it long enough for it to carve out its niche, which I'm sure it will, given enough time and maybe some money-hatting.

Huh? Vita is obviously not aimed at children, just look at the sleek design. It's clearly meant for young adults/grown up gamers. It reminds me more of an iPhone than a game system. Vita is a system you can play wearing a suit and a tie and not feel embarrassed.

Sony is caught in a catch 22 situation where most devs won't want to develop for the system because there aren't many out there and there aren't many out there because there are no hardware sellers for the system. Nintendo is got Mario and they could slap Mario onto anything and it will sell.
