Screw CAVE!
With all my heart I wish to CAVE a bankruptcy!
And about all of you, CAVE fans... I feel a sorrow.

Re: The future of Cave
Could Cave do Dodonpachi 5: New Successors, Esp. Ra. De. 2, Progear 2, Deathsmiles 3, and Sky Assault?
Re: The future of Cave
Only if someone were able to come up with a story / premise for them to make the titles. I think that's been the main barrier thus far.

As soon as they finish making Dangun Feveron 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 and Black Label versions of all four of them.KiethSomataw99 wrote:Could Cave do Dodonpachi 5: New Successors, Esp. Ra. De. 2, Progear 2, Deathsmiles 3, and Sky Assault?

THIS totally needs to happen, andKiethSomataw99 wrote:Esp. Ra. De. 2?
Here's the story for it which goes as follows:rancor wrote:Only if someone were able to come up with a story / premise for them to make the titles. I think that's been the main barrier thus far.
Irori ages from being a little midgety child person to a slightly older midgety child bitch, who due to having been spoilt by her rich family after busting everyone's ass in the last game has become quite snobby about being rich and buying expensive stuff to feed her womanness.
Now here's the clincher: her parents get sick and tired of it and lock her credit card, so she gets desperate and steals a pair of fancy glittery shoes from a shopping mall at night. The entire game, then, is based on angry psychic security teams as enemies who want to get the shoes back from the greedy little girl. She hires the Russian JB the Fifth as personal bodyguard (because those pantyhose are really good at deflecting bullets) but pisses off that fire bloke whose name I can't remember because she beat him to the shoes so he becomes one of the bosses.
I dub thee: "ESPRade II: MAAA SHOOZ", because that's the only tangibly English words she ever said in the first one and the sequel's all about keeping her stolen shoes from getting stolen back anyway.

Re: The future of Cave
Actually, the three characters for Esp Ra De 2 are Tommy Boyd (a 19 year old American psychic who has come to visit Japan but fights for survival, his first stage is the airport, he is considered the lead character despite being the only non-Japanese playable character), Saki Tsubasa (a 14 year old Japanese girl from Houoh high school, one of the prettiest and most popular freshman girls at the school, willing to defend it, first stage is Houoh High School), and Kaede Matsura (a 13-year old boy who's family was a relative of Yuske, first stage is Naval Port). Also, as well as having the barrier ability, each character has a power bomb, each different from each other (Tommy's bomb is a volley of piercing waves fired in front of him for spread, kind like Miyamoto's bomb in Dimahoo) (Saki's bomb is the most damaging, a beam is projected in front of her for extreme damage over a period of time) (Kaede's bomb is a blast that affects all enemies on the screen).
Re: The future of Cave
I hope you're aware that Kaede is generally a female name.
Re: The future of Cave
So is Alice, and that didn't stop Cave in the past.

He's Yuma's half brother. I don't think you can be a female and be a brother.
Also Cave's site says he's a dude so yeah.

Do you know about The Last Blade series and Kaede is the name of the male protagonist?RNGmaster wrote:I hope you're aware that Kaede is generally a female name.

Yeah - he's actually a tranny. Beat the game without getting hit to see his secret ending.

Yep, there's always room for some more groovy '70s disco beats combined with Cave's signature danmaku patterns. The next question is: Suppose if Cave were to "green light" a proper sequel to Feveron, will it retain the same hand-drawn sprites as it's predecessor or forge into new territory with rendered sprites? Which leads us to the next pressing question: Feveron sequel running on what type of hardware? Perhaps the aging SH-3 platform or something else entirely?Udderdude wrote:As soon as they finish making Dangun Feveron 1.5, 2, 3 and 4 and Black Label versions of all four of them.KiethSomataw99 wrote:Could Cave do Dodonpachi 5: New Successors, Esp. Re: The future of Cave
I just wish they'd give us some indication as to whether they're planning anymore console shmup conversions/ports/or new titles. Personally I'd love to see an Ibara/Kuro collection, or a classics collection with stuff like ESPRade, ESPGaluda 1, Mushihime, Donpachi, Dodonpachi, etc for 360 and I'd really love to see an enhanced version of Progear with new models ala Mushihimesamsa/Death Smiles (yes I know, never going to happen). Really I'd just like to know if they have anything like this planned. If not just let us know Cave. Tell us "Hey guys it's over. No more console games, just handhelds and mobile crap....er, I mean mobile games"....that way I can stop hoping for some new amazing announcement every time I visit this forum. Just have the courtesy to let your fans know Cave, that way we can move on with our lives.
PS This also applies to any new arcade titles.

Re: The future of Cave
I'll bet some imaginary dollars that their next two, and final, 360 shmup ports will be Mushi with the Matsuri version, and Ibara/Kuro. Feveron might show up on smartphones, as they haven't completely canned the project, but it won't be on XBLA.
Re: The future of Cave
All signs point to yes, at least according to their latest indication. I'm expecting news soon, according to cave-stg.com, seems some interviews are about to hit the web.just wish they'd give us some indication as to whether they're planning anymore console shmup conversions/ports/or new titles
As if a dozen 360 ports in the last 2 years isn't enough

Re: The future of Cave
I'm really not complaining and by no means am I "looking a gift horse in the mouth"....the fact that 11 Cave games were ported to the 360 this gen so far is amazing; especially given the current state of the genre. And if Cave is done no one can accuse them of not giving console ports a fair shake. It's just that all of a sudden it seems like everything is about their Visual Novel and Mobile endeavors. If it wasn't for Rising Sun licensing titles for Europe there wouldn't be any Cave console news for a while now. The last release in Japan was Akai Katana in May and for the US that same month for the digital release of DS2. After six months it'd be nice to just hear that something was on the horizon (or to at least know if they are moving on). That's all I'm getting at. I need closure man! Well that, and Ibara/Kuro....I gots ta know man!chempop wrote:All signs point to yes, at least according to their latest indication. Re: The future of Cave
They gotta keep making money somehow. Sometimes a comany has to make crap that appeals to a broader range of idiots, so they can make some money and go back to doing what they really want to be doing.
I may end up in the same boat at some point soon myself :P

Re: The future of Cave
Cave will be concerned with little other than making money in 2012, I think, though we've yet to see how the Vita shmup will turn out.
Maybe they're planning one last gigantic send-off to the SH3 hardware? Probably wishful thinking.

To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.
Re: The future of Cave
Mushihimesama 1.5 Matsuri Festival Version is the full name, so "Mushi 1.5" makes more sense than "Matsuri" as there are more special versions of CAVE games present at these events like the Matsuri version of Muchi Muchi Pork that had Pink Sweets bosses added in.DrTrouserPlank wrote:Don't you mean Matsuri?Udderdude wrote:That's basically what Akai Katana Special and Mushi 1.5 were.Estebang wrote:Maybe they're planning one last gigantic send-off to the SH3 hardware? Re: The future of Cave
I'd love to see Feveron 2 (probably with autobomb encouraging even more aggressive play) more than anything else from Cave, but it will never happen. It's one of Cave's oldest games, one of their least popular and loved, and I don't think its programmers are at Cave anymore (I know Ikeda wasn't involved).
Re: The future of Cave
It (and maybe progear) seem to be the most forgotton of caves shmups which is a shame really because dangun was the first cave shmup i ever played.WarpZone wrote:I'd love to see Feveron 2 (probably with autobomb encouraging even more aggressive play) more than anything else from Cave, but it will never happen.
