So many great albums were coming out of the Neo Geo's library around that time (in addition to the usually frickin' awesome redbook NGCD soundtracks). I remember SW3 music being among the first VGM I downloaded on Napster, along with tons of KOF, Garou and Samurai Spirits stuff. "Motif" and "Exalted Executioner" are particularly lovely.

Lovely. You know an arranger has good taste when Sensation gets a look in. I wish I had the musical acumen to describe that melodic "Konami sound," it's like bottled sunlight.

Awesome Konami World/Goonies fanart, too.

Found this great Dragon Spirit arrangement from the suggested vids. There's so much of this good stuff on YT/nico etc.

Nice Dragon Spirit arrange, I've not heard that one before. I've had a love for the Dragon Spirit OST since I first heard it on the PC Engine in the early 90's, stunning.

Ah so you're a fan of Sensation as well are you, AMAZING tune! I used to have this as my ringtone on my old Motorola V600 mobile phone back when MP3 ringtones were new and groovy.

Salamander 2's OST needs more love. ^__^ "Silvery Wings Again," "Dear Blue" and the unused "Fire Tripper" are good stuff too. It also has one of the series' (including Gradius) most memorably dark BGMs in "All Is Vanity."

I want to play a lot of Rusty for the PC 98, but I can never stick with it. The OST is always fun to spend time with though!

Can't get enough of Knight Arms' (X68000) impassioned and gloriously resonant main theme by Toshiya Yamanaka of Sin & Punishment fame:

Metal Hawk BGM 4. Carries so much impact... and maybe just a touch of the Airwolf theme.

Bad experience with Over Horizon's lousy BGM drownouts makes me appreciate MFN HYDE more than ever. Even with all hell breaking loose onscreen and SFX to match, the primal electronic pulse persists. This is true for all of Recca's soundtrack. What nice coding!

Famicom cart owns 3DS ver: the eshop version fucks up the intro, really jarring!

I think it's telling me to sacrifice a goat to Sweet Lord Satan, then donate my copy to the local charity shop. >_>

Been enjoying the good ol days of Silent Hill OSTs when Yamaoka hadn't discovered Def Leppard and his guitar rock was gritty and plaintive as hell. I'd like him back for SHs but strictly without the WAWWAWWAWWW caterwauling AOR vocals.

As winter approaches, it's Silent Hill time again is it?

I love these two tracks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vP0BVl_gxs

Also as for guitar work.. The Last Mariachi - what a main menu theme!

The Last Mariachi is so cool. Those plunky nylon strings noodling over a vaguely malevolent air conditioner hum... lazy evil! Suits the jumbled, decrepit and utterly dark Wally World quite well.

Despite having replayed the four games just a month or so back, I might end up revisiting at least SH3 before the year is out. I never give its relatively enormous NG+ content enough time. I kinda jumped the gun on my usual biennial SH marathon, I wanted to know how it was to replay them with the prospect of another honest in-house effort in the works (FEELS GOOD BRO ^o^).

I think of the first two games in particular as made for January. Can practically feel the mist on my skin, aww yeee.

Bought One Way Heroics on Steam, it's a fun little JRPG but I'm loving the soundtrack in particular.

Brilliant FC-style cover of Neo Contra's opening theme.

Also, dear god, Rubble Saver's st1 BGM is heartbreakingly beautiful.

Fuck that's a good tune. Favourited and I've got another OST/V to chase down.

I know the game's name but I never really looked into it, didn't want to risk it not living up to its title.

Last X68k OST I listened to was Cho Ren Sha's, always a pleasure with its vaguely Zuntata-flavoured weirdpop. I'm so tempted to make COOKIN' ON THE HELL my next sig line but I'm too attached to the current one from Metal Black.

I think he mentioned Cho Ren Sha in the shmup music thread on the other board.

Also dayum that Neo Contra Remix. I think next time I play FC Contra I'm gonna listen to that as an alternate loop 2+ stage 1 theme, heh.
