This thread (along with other life experiences) makes me realise how behind the times I am. During the late 90's and early noughties, my knowledge of alternative music was second to none.

I think I might have lost that fire and passion over the years.

I kind of feel that way myself at times, but it's more that at 36 with three kids I don't get the same time I used to have to throw on some headphones and really zone out.

Current pick is Hawks and Doves - Year One. Ex Planes Mistaken For Stars front man Gared O' Donnell's solo album, and while a less frantic affair all round, actually even more heartfelt and honest. Kind of country punk.

Circle of Dead Children - Human Harvest
Plebeian Grandstand - Lowgazers

I got the Throatruiner version of this when it came out, but I guess the Relapse version has more songs? I'll have to pick it up sometime, it's definitely a good album. You should check out the singer's old band, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire. Ethan sent me a free copy of their cd when I bought a shirt from them. They're grindier than Primitive Man, but still have lots of killer droney doom parts.

I can't get enough of Wolfgang Voigt's latest release Polkatrax 1. I'm sure nobody here will expect what kind of techno this is.

I recently re-listened to the Nah Und Fern boxset. Wolfgang Voigt's output is hit or miss, but some of his monikers are top-notch (like Gas, All and Studio 1). I was meaning to check out Polkatrax 1 though.

Is that the only way you have all the Gas albums? Because I know that the version of his debut in the boxed set is not the same as it was originally released.

I think a few tracks are different from the original (even the vinyl and CD versions originally had different tracklists in Königsforst). Nevertheless, the boxset is quintessential.

Well I can say I for many weeks passed up a copy of that for only $35usd at a local record store. I feel really stupid for passing up on it, but before I decided I really needed it, it was gone! Lucky person who got it. Ahh, didn't know that about the Königsforst stuff.

P-Model - Landsale

This stuff is crazy. I know Polysics takes after Devo now, but these guys were doing it around the same time they were, and even crazier. I love "Touch Me", sounds like Cardiacs.

Yagya - Sleepygirls
Finally has released today after a couple of delays from the pressing plant for the Vinyl editions. This you might say sounds like a lot of other Dub Techno out there, but he adds in little quirks and blips and a couple of tracks have vocals. This is pure Yagya's take on Dub Techno and is very chill.

I do really like the first three Tony Martin albums overall. Big, boomin', super-catchy power metal funnin'.

Samurai Bitches, by Sobut.

Picked this up recently at the nearby Book-Off. Very good stuff, recommended for fans of J-punk.

As an Aspie (person diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome), I don't listen to what most people call most vocal songs "real music", except for Hatsune Miku, some Anime OPs and video game vocal songs.

This soundtrack kind of never gets old. It helps me wait patiently on everything I am tired of waiting on:

Jonathan Wilson - Fanfare

If you like earlier Pink Floyd mixed with a bit of Dire Straits it's well worth checking this out. It reminds me of a lot of old bands in fact, so refreshing.
