I've been lurking around here for a little while, and I figured I should probably register. So... hi!

I started out with shmups about a year and a half ago with the Touhou series, and gradually moved up the difficulties until I got the last of my Lunatic 1ccs about three months ago. Since then, I've been concentrating much more on arcade shmups; my current favourites (and the only ones I have 1ccs with as of yet) are Dodonpachi and Mushihimesama Futari, and the next game on my list to get is ESPGaluda II.

I'm not one for overly long introductions, so I think I'll end this here. Time to go and submit some scores.

Hello, I'm not new here since I've been lurking for a while but I figured I should introduce myself.

Back in the days of arcades I played a lot of Galaga, R-Type and others but then I lost track as times
changed. I was happy to re-discover shmups and learn that the genre lives on. Through MAME I
learned about DDP and Garegga and was super happy when Cave released region-free stuff for the 360.

I've never really been a lurker here. In fact, I'm a fairly casual shmup player. I'm not really interested in 1cc'ing a game, buying its PCB, or playing on extremely hard modes.

As a child, I played the obvious choices like Rtype, Einhander, and the like. These days, I'd have to say Cotton, Axelay, and Shikigami no Shiro 3 are my favorite. I also have a good number of games on VC like Star Parodier, Gleylancer, Lords of Thunder, and Twinbee. I also have that Milestone collection for wii, but it's somewhat lackluster.

I've always bought shmups that I've liked, but I've never actually been to good at them. Anyways, I recently bought a 360 and only have Wartech, Trigger Heart Exelica, and Shoot1UP in the way of shmups so far. I also have ESPgaluda II and mushihimesama futari ver 1.5 on the way. Not sure what drove to buy the system on a whim, but sometimes I tend to do that (which is why I have systems like a 3DO, virtual boy, and casio loopy). Signed up here maybe to get good suggestions, and learn a thing or two. Bullet hell games make it kind of hard to keep playing casually, you want to get better!

Hi.

Since the 32bit generation I've dutifully purchased a majority of shooters on the PS1, Saturn, DC, and PS2. I thought I was hot shit for being able to no-miss clear Thunder Force V and 1cc the PS1 version of G-Darius. Since then I still purchase the games and play them occasionally but I'm really not very good at them in comparison to what people say average ability is here. Reading accounts of other players getting multiple extends in Stage 3 of Esp2 Arrange makes me wonder why I even bother trying, seeing as how I can't even get past Stage 4 of that mode yet. Emoness aside, I guess the reason that I still do in fact play shooters is because they're the only games I play besides IIDX which actually challenge me and whose challenge I consider fair.

I've visited here many times through the years but never registered until now because I'm honestly not very good at the games (and I only say so in an attempt to be honest in self-assessment), so I don't see a lot of places for me to really say much of anything.

Yeah, I used to post in score threads in various forums and I see myself improve in the games when I do play them. I'm not as terrible at Esp2 now as I was when I first played the game. I know I just need to practice and play to get better.

I'm just whiny and I don't play them often enough. It's OK.

hello, been a lurker for quite a while. the first game i ever played was a coin-op 1942 growing up in england. i live in hawaii and love my shmups. not very good at them, never had a true 1cc (espgaluda 2 on easy dont count lol) but been practicing on a daily basis. i also love run and guns (contra 3 my favorite by far) this is a great site with tons of great info. Everybody is really nice and helpful so i figured i might as well register and contribute whatever limited knowledge i have. And thanks to everyone who posted on the japanese 360 threads, mine is hopefully coming in tomorrow, cant wait to take a crack at death smiles!! see you on the boards!!!

Sure i played Xevious, R-Type, Gradius and Tiger Heli back in the day. But not "seriously". I got Layer Section with my Saturn, and that was the game that really spiked my interest.
Then about a month after i picked up Donpachi. It was one of the few games that kinda changed the way i looked at video games. I was stunned, i just couldn't belive how fun it was and how i managed to miss all these great games over the years. Right after i picked up DoDonpachi. And well...i've pretty much played it every day for 4 months now. Offcourse i still suck, but i don't mind. It's still fun.
