KETSUPACHI!!

This is the best late christmas gift I've ever seen (for myself). So glad I didn't order DFK already, now I can bag DFK LE and Ketsupachi to ship together after the 2nd.

Ketsupachi looks amazing too. I really hope there's no autobomb - I didn't see it in the short vid.

Fuck, Cave, it's like you really want my money now! Because you've succeeded. 10-chips bulging everywhere, that's hot.

The BL soundtrack is so much better than 1.5's, and finally a step in the right direction from all this Dai-Ondo shit. Hope Cave shifted enough BL OST's to re-think the tone of future soundtracks.

I think the opposite, Tom. I hate that breakbeat shit and prefer Namiki's usual style.

On the other hand, KetsuPachi has literally blown my mind.

BL soundtrack is better as music, perhaps, but the WL one fits the rhythm of the stages, contains DOJ fanservice and has no (intelligible) lyrics.

Btw, that take on Ketsui's 1st stage theme is the best one I've heard to date. DFK surpassed even Espgaluda 2 with its amount of different modes: 1.5, 1.5 Novice, 1.51, BL, BL Novice, Arrange A, Arrange B, Arrange Ketsui. That's 8 distinct modes, not counting scoring system differences between styles in BL. I think Cave just jumped over their head with this one.

DFK may have surpassed Espgaluda II in gameplay modes, however, the former it os just one disc while the other has been mutilated to get some profit, I mean has been put on 2 different discs.
I will be buying retail DFK BL of curse since I hate DLC, but my wallet is going to get broken by then.

I'm sure you'd have a ball with the TLB gabba nonsense. :)
I've been listening to the BL OST for a few weeks now and where initially I wasn't too sure, it's well and truly grown on me. Namiki's starting to sound a little samey these days (as discussed somewhere already) and I'm not into the aimlessness of the WL composition. The BL OST is just grittier and more driving, which is what DDP is about imo (and it's nice to have something different from Cave too.)

It even makes the Youtube vid look so much more intense! :)

Ketsupachi FTW.

I don't like to make inane comments but ... LOLHOLYSHIT-Ketsupachi. Now I'll never have to sleep again.

... but unfortunately, my Xbox 360 is in Australia and I'm in Hong Kong at the moment. I won't even get to try the copy of Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu that will be at my Australian desk on monday morning. I could buy another Xbox 360 here, but then I'd need all the accessories that go along with it. It's also next to impossible to find a decent CRT in Hong Kong, space is no luxury here for most people. *sigh*.

But DFK is high res, so it will look quite awesome on a tated LCD as well.

Quite true, if you could find one with the right aspect ratio. :) I was thinking more about the input latency though, but I guess you can't have everything these days.

I've been hearing nothing but good things about the game's stock arrange modes. Do any of them approach the awesomeness that is Espgaluda 1 arrange? I really can't wait to try out arrange B.

Also it can't be said enough right now:  KETSUPACHI!!! OMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!

Holy fucking crap O_O

Can anybody tell me about how much 4800 yen translates to in dollars? Is that a full priced release or slightly budgeted or what? I may have to get it either way...

Awesome.

Does anybody know if the BL + Ketsuipachi is supposed to be super limited edition? I just got around to watching the video and that's the best fucking thing I've ever seen. I would hate to miss out on it because vendors took up pre-orders when I wasn't looking. I also hope it gets released to vendors and isn't just a really exclusive Cave thing, but I guess signs don't really point to that sort of exclusivity. I guess just let me know anything you can discern from the video - I can't speak Japanese.

At any rate, so fucking excited. That was perhaps the most beautiful anything I've ever seen. I wasn't sure if Futari could ever have a rival in my eyes, but goddamn, Ketsuipachi. Bravo.

It is still up in the air. Unless they are doing some silly disc-swapping thing. The 5000 yen price and three-month delay kinda speaks of this being playable by itself, IMHO.

From the official site of Black Label which was released today:

http://www.cave.co.jp/gameonline/Xbox36 ... atu/black/

こちらのゲーム追加コンテンツ版を遊ぶには、別途「怒首領蜂大復活Ver1.5」のパッケージソフトが必要となります。

DFK is necessary in order to play the content from the package version. The package version isn't a substitute for DFK or whatever, there's no way they would do a cheaper version only a few months after release.

Whoops, sorry. Did not know it was made explicit on their page.

So it has gotta be a disc swap then, right? Even with 1.5 installed you will still have to have the first disc in on initial boot-up.

DFK is necessary in order to play the content from the package version.
ゲーム追加コンテンツ版 = 'DLC version', not 'package release'. You've mistranslated, as usual.

The full, proper translation of that Japanese sentence (which appears in the section describing the DLC version, not in the section on the package release - another little hint!) is: "In order to play this DLC version, the separate package version of Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Ver 1.5 is necessary."

Package release of DFK BL is a standalone disc version, DFK 1.5 is not required to play it.

To be honest, while all these arrange modes are great, if I could express some unwarranted entitlement then what I'd really like to play is the original penis laser version. Not just because they were phallic and thus highly amusing, but because it seemed to have more of them and more special laser types (i.e. ones that return fire) before the loop. Looked quite interesting from the little footage I saw.

Looks like I was mixing up the two paragraphs, associating the package version which excludes 1.5's material, with the DLC requiring 1.5's retail release. This is what I'm like after being up for 40 hours.

So, to clear things up: The package version doesn't come with 1.5's material, it's just Black Label, Novice, and the exclusive Ketsui-like Arrange mode. It actually doesn't mention whether DFK is required to play or not, but being a retail release, we're assuming it doesn't.

Hmm, this is pretty tedious, when I think about it. DFK plus the DLC for 1200, or DLC plus Ketsui mode. Damnit, why couldn't they just make Ketsui mode additional DLC?

Probably because we're all mugs and will pay £40 (more likely £60) for Black Label and Ketsui. And buy the DLC as well anyway because, you know, those points are doing much and it'll take a week to get here.
