Don't worry too much about MBL 1.1. It's easily the worst, least balanced mode out of all of them.

I wouldn't mind 1ccing with a nonSakura character, but I can't bother to go through the extremely long runs which always involve getting destroyed by Ozier and Jitterbug/Tyrannosatan because any character not called Sakura did completely bad damage. Plus, a lot of the strategies for some of the attacks I could never get to work anyway.

Around 10 hours for me.

The trick is not chaining anything beside the end of stage 2, and using B-S in shot mode most of the time, pointblanking enemies before they even have a chance to shoot at me. This approach rapes stages, which are the harder part of the game, and bosses are very easy in the first loop. One-two bombs or a hyper and a bomb will deal with them easily.

In fact, using shot or laser ships and using hypers for survival make this game not harder than DDP, probably even easier. Using Exy is far more satisfying though.

yeah, ive been using B-EXY just for the feeling of raping every thing onscreen with shot, then switching to a strong laser. definitely more satisfying!

I'm still sort of confused where the myth of DOJ being especially hard comes from. The pattern difficulty in the first loop is roughly same as in DDP and DFK and the only thing making it harder to loop than DDP is the ship selection. I'm not saying it's trivial of course but it's far from the harder stuff that Cave offers. Try something like Espgaluda 2 or Futari Maniac.

True. DOJ has nothing like DDP Stage 5 or DFK Stage 5.

I still find a lot of stuff in DFK first loop undoable for me, but hopefully that'll change.

Maybe it's just me sucking with a keyboard but I've no-missed Futari 1.5 Maniac up to Larsa while I'm lucky if I can see stage 5 in DOJ.
