Also, what I've gathered from others' comments is that rank has a smoother curve with easier minimum and harder maximum, making it scale to one's skills better.

In other words, it's a better game for basically any purpose.
Thanks for letting me know! It sounds interesting. Come the time, I will probably buy it as well. :D

The announce of this getting a release date but not Ketsui still makes me wonder though.

On the BL you can even turn on a single loop mode, where hibachi already appears after the last boss in the first loop.

pretty much :D

although the point about hitboxes is slightly wrong. in the recent BL dvd they stated this in the booklet. they have since apologised on their website for the printing error - both hitboxes in BL are smaller :)

Does anyone have an image of the smaller hitboxes? I think I've seen one floating around, but it's probably not for BL.

Running it through all that stuff (not to mention starting 480p) most definitely disqualifies the "true" part.

unless you're clearing the first loop it's not a world of difference.

but once you start hitting the 2nd loop you'll never want to touch the regular version again :!:

best bit of the dvd package was that i'd been chatting with GP previously that you can time out the first form of the stage 4 boss for no damage (if you're brave) and theoretically get 50-60mill off the second form ... and a month later lo and behold...!!

black pachi is the best

still waiting for the interviews on gamengai...

Once you go black, you never go back? xD
Problem is, how many people are actually able to reach the second loop to notice the changes?

You'll be waiting for a while. Got a few in the queue, and no sign of a start date. :(

Scoring set aside, Ketsui's stage 5 is definitely harder. In fact, other than the bee hive, DOJ St. 5 is somewhat straight forward.

I seriously hope that it won't be a choppy as in that video GP linked to, and that there will be tate. That tiny Yoko window is awful.

To be honest, this entire quote is composed of nonsense and issues that have been addressed before.

The window is slightly smaller so it's 720x960, 3 times bigger than the native resolution of the game. Any bigger you would have to anti-alias to avoid it looking horrible.

And anyway, if it's anything like RFA and Shiki III, you'll be able to expand it as you see fit.

If you want to do a full translation I will gladly host them, credit you, and all that shit. It's something I always planned on doing (I've read them, and they're quite interesting) but I've just got too much on the plate right now.

Running it through all that stuff (not to mention starting 480p) most definitely disqualifies the "true" part.
I could have worded that better I suppose, as far the the sony PVM sees it it's low res.

but honestly it's only running through one item, the extron. I've run DC games through it and it looks fantastic. the results are very good.

I could run the a DC game like marvel versus capcom 1 via VGA to the extron then to the TV and then via a RGB cable in "true" low res and you could see no major difference.

Image

that's actaully a shot of the DC vampire chronical going through an extron > xrgb2 > VGA to componet converter and it looked great. for these 360 games it won't be going through nearly as much as that. either way I think the results are very, very close to true low res and much better than they were before if you are a low res whore like me.

I'd prefer the PCBs in low res for real, but they are so expensive I can't do it now. This is my next best and only choice.

Plus with the 360 it will be no worse than using a XRGB.... it's just a cord going from the 360 to the extron, then the extron to the sony PVM. I'll have to set the 360 to 480p everytime I play it but that's a small price to pay for it to be tate'd (I'm assuming it's going to have a tate mode) in low res.

good results are just going to depend on if these ports wind up line doubled in 480p while tate'd.... then the crappy filtering being able to be turned off ect.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

It indeed does look pretty good. It'd be nice to have a machine to calculate the frame delay. IE, if it's any more than going through an XRGB alone.

there is no delay that I've noticed doing this. if there is any added it's no more than an XRGB would.

i mean on a technical level i'm sure there is some kind of delay (even a XRGB adds a delay) but we are talking strictly to the smallest degree. like fractions of fractions of a second. i used Space Channel 5 through it to see if was playable since it was a music game, had no issues.

fudoh would probably know for sure what the math is to the smallest degree.

glad it's not just me then. i think DOJ's reputation as a ball-breaker stems from people arriving at it off the back of regular DDP. or when there were only two ps2 ports: doj and galuda.

i guess at least with ketsui the difficulty is static, whereas doj will kick your ass harder the better you're doing.

that would be wicked adversity and GP :D obviously it's the ikeda and HFD interviews i'm looking for - even a general translation would be much appreciated

.
i've played them both a lot and am still pretty crap at both but can get to stage 5 in ketsui but only mid way through stage 4 in doj so maybe stage 5 is harder in ketsui but the rest is easier? pretty sure at least stage 3 is harder in doj - well it kicks my ass. not sure it makes a difference that i use the expert ship in doj so hardly have any bombs, recon the extra firepower more than makes up for it though :?
