Running it through all that stuff (not to mention starting 480p) most definitely disqualifies the "true" part.
I could have worded that better I suppose, as far the the sony PVM sees it it's low res.
but honestly it's only running through one item, the extron. I've run DC games through it and it looks fantastic. the results are very good.
I could run the a DC game like marvel versus capcom 1 via VGA to the extron then to the TV and then via a RGB cable in "true" low res and you could see no major difference.
that's actaully a shot of the DC vampire chronical going through an extron > xrgb2 > VGA to componet converter and it looked great. for these 360 games it won't be going through nearly as much as that. either way I think the results are very, very close to true low res and much better than they were before if you are a low res whore like me.
I'd prefer the PCBs in low res for real, but they are so expensive I can't do it now. This is my next best and only choice.
Plus with the 360 it will be no worse than using a XRGB.... it's just a cord going from the 360 to the extron, then the extron to the sony PVM. I'll have to set the 360 to 480p everytime I play it but that's a small price to pay for it to be tate'd (I'm assuming it's going to have a tate mode) in low res.
good results are just going to depend on if these ports wind up line doubled in 480p while tate'd.... then the crappy filtering being able to be turned off ect.
