No but seriously if anything is like slamming your nuts between bricks or stone wheels it's the wall climbing boss in Sin and Punishment on hard mode. I've been slamming my nuts over this for a few weeks now and I don't seem to be getting any closer. When you get his health low it starts regenerating and it's groin smashingly frustrating. I'm on the verge of buying a N64->GC/Wii adapter and an N64 controller(using classic controller now) just so I can have bigger shoulder buttons, even though I don't think easier dashing will help me much with this part in particular. I guess it will help me retain more health during the fire spiral attack but his health and feet still regenerate way too quickly for me.

Playing Espgaluda , as usual...still trying for the 1cc...posted my newest HS in the HS thread.

Aside from 'galuda which is always on my plate, I've begun playing Raiden Fighters Jet and GFekirindan.

Both AWESOME games...RFJ being my "facepalm" of the year having overlooked it so many times. All it took was playing it last week and getting pretty far on 1 credit. That game is BY FAR my favorite Raiden game. So fast paced....with all these scoring bonuses and tricks. Just feels like non-stop fun. Scoring is a BLAST too...

I think RFJ is going to be in my future for a WHILE.

Charge up all the way...max out and get up on one side of him.
When it's clear slide over and let go. Your charge shot should lock onto his tail. One fully charged full on hit should do it.

I think it's 300,000 points.

:)

Good luck..hope that sorta helps.

Lots of Raiden DX Training lately. I've spent the past several days working on the go-between-the-bullets-for-5k-bonuses section, which I've always found to be deceptively tricky. Also playing a little, teensy bit of Dodonpachi II.

I'm reconsidering some of my old "forced bomb" spots in the first loop of Dragon Blaze. It looks like 1-6 2nd midboss, boss opener, and the 1-7 first midboss are all doable most of the time. Why do this when the second loop is so much harder?

Well, if I didn't keep entering the loop with no lives and no bombs I might be able to make some serious improvements. As it is I can barely reach 2-2 boss...

At week two of shmupping, still learning the basics with DFK 1.5 lolCstrong lately. Almost to the 1cc, then I want to polish off Futari BL for the sake of it (I know I could do it on a good run) and then move onto more challenging modes. Need to practice out DFK stage 5 a bit first, though. Laser wheels, how do they work?

Not sure what I'd concentrate on next. All of my current prospects (Futari BL Maniac, DFKBL, Galuda II, and DOJ) interest me in different ways.

Cheesy/easy 1ccs? Are you retarded? Easy for you, not exactly for everyone else so just let him play whatever he's conformtable with. Just because you think those games are easy Mr. Bighead doesn't mean they are easy for everyone else. So your post is clearly i'll put it roughly, bullshit.

I would like to know who everyone else is as DFK 1.5 Strong 1-ALL and Futari BL Original seem pretty unanimously considered some of the easiest 1ccs out there. I just think his time would be better spent learning to score in a game with difficulty more representative of the overall genre rather than mulling over those cheesy 1ccs. This idea that you somehow build up your skill through those cheesy 1ccs and that it is a waste of time to play for score until then is a load of bullshit.

Truxton / Tatsujin, Batsugun, and Espgaluda.

For Truxton / Tatsujin, I can only get past the first "real" boss of the game, but I fare much better in Batsugun (Reached Jupiter) and Espgaluda (Reached Stage 5).

In Espgaluda, the Stage 4 boss can just die. However, Stages 3 and 4 are my favorite stages, just for the music alone.

I don't understand why you think the only way to play DFKBL, Futari BLM, or DOJ is to go for a cheesy 1cc, yet the only way to play Espgaluda II is for score? DFKBL offers quite the challenge if thats what the player is looking for (Even survival is challenging with Strong), and DOJ is anything but easy if you take any kind of scoring into account, not to mention the 2nd loop. On the contrary, you can cheese your way through most of GaludaII if scoring is not your concern. The last boss will still prove challenging though.

Perhaps you should have just been honest and said, "hey, I'm playing Espgaluda II right now, you should play that one!"

yes, most people here find a DFK 1.5 1-ALL easy... but that wasn't even mentioned?

OT: I'm still on Dimahoo. Managed an 800k run trying out Karte, which is higher than I've managed with several runs with Solo Bang. Starting to get the hang of Busturtle, but I've yet to get both the tail and head bonus items.

I have nothing against DFKBL/BL Maniac/DOJ. What I meant to say was simply that I think it is dumb to worry about some getting easy 1ccs in DFK 1.5 Strong and BL Original before playing them.

Ok, that makes much more sense. You know, I usually casually attempt score, but usually my focus is 1cc. Id like to change that though.

My main concern is that I feel like I'm still inconsistent with respect to not dying/bombing/dropping chain to be able to play primarily for score just yet, and focusing on survival runs at first will help with that (and then scoring will come naturally once my survival skills are more developed). I don't ignore score entirely, even now, but you've still given me something to consider. I know that my situation is hardly unique :P

I can understand a beginner having slight issues with BL Original but I don't think there's anyone on this board that couldn't beat it in a week if they played seriously and actually paid attention to what they were doing.

Every time I hear about people struggling and working toward a DFK Strong 1-All though it just boggles my mind. Any person should be able to clear this game within a couple days of legitimate effort and probably enter omote loop in a week or so. I think the biggest problem people have is not fully understanding that:

1.) Manually bombing does MUCH more damage to bosses and gives you MUCH more invulnerability time.

2.) You are invulnerable during the duration of Hyper startup (the box appearing around your ship).

3.) You can use this hyper activation invulnerability to sit on top of a boss long enough to fill all or at least the majority of your gauge toward another hyper.

4.) Lasers do not instantly kill you when you stop using laser to block one, they take a moment to push back toward you.

With this knowledge and minimal practice/paying enough attention to know when the laser wheels appear and from what direction, anyone should be able to cheese through that section on bomb and hyper invulnerability and grab enough bees to charge a free hyper while they're at it. 1-5 boss has some difficult patterns but you should have so many bombs and hypers available to you that surviving shouldn't be an issue if you bomb conservatively enough to avoid autobombs.

For learning survival skills quickly, nothing beats Psikyo. Try Gunbird 2 or Strikers 1945 2, you'll thank me later. They're hard but if you stick with them your ass will be in shape for shmups.

I know, I know, you weren't looking for recommendations. Still Psikyo is pretty boss.

All right, thanks again for the advice, everyone. I've decided just to focus on general practice (and scoring) rather than trying to 1cc anything as a primary goal. If my long-term goal is to simply become a good/solid player (which it is), there's no benefit to wasting time on cheese 1cc's beyond being able to say "hey, I cleared something," which I realized is a pretty dumb and arbitrary goal to have.

To stay on-topic, over the past day I played a lot of DDP and Strikers (mostly 1999, but the others a bit too).

I'd be getting a new high score on Solid State Survivor if I'd actually bomb instead of getting hit by stupid stuff. Same goes for Donpachi, I keep entering Stage 4 and dying with a nearly full bomb stock. Durr.

Edit:
Keres wrote:there's no benefit to wasting time on cheese 1cc's beyond being able to say "hey, I cleared something,"
It's not like once you 1cc the game even if it's with a bad score you can't work on improving it. Once you get good at surviving/dodging, you can learn to score and incorporate those strategies into your runs.

Of course you can certainly aim for scores right from the get-go, although that will increase the difficulty in games with punishing rank increases for scoring well, but really you should just worry about finding a playstyle you're comfortable with.

QFT.

I literally FELL into the omote loop not realising what I did to trigger it. DFK is the only game I have 1cc'd on my first credit, but then again I had been playing DFKBL on my JAP360 a bit.

So I bought Dimahoo.

Might not have been the best choice.

LOL Definitely puts us in our place! Look at it his way, only a small handful of people have EVER 1CC it, so no matter how much it kicks our ass, we can't feel too bad.

I finally got to stage 6 today wih X6 multiplier, I'm happy about this small amount of progress!
