Lots of new stuff after splurging too much on records last month.

Dendtritic Arbor - Romantic Love - Ridiculously awesome chaotic grind/chaotic black metal hybrid. Shrieking BM howls and dissonant riffs work so well together. A lot rougher than something like Liturgy. Distributed in the UK by the ever awesome Sound Devastation records. Need to see these guys live, and soon. Check them out on Bandcamp now.

Piss Vortex - Future Cancer - More chaotic grind in a fat free one sided LP/EP. Saw them in London and their ridiculous tightness shat all over the British support bands. Good to see grind in such rude health.

Various - Lagrange Point OST - That this exists as an official vinyl release is a head scratcher, and a wonderful one at that. Really only notable for it's soundtrack (hope I'm not pissing anyone off by suggesting the game is a bit dull) this late Famicom oddity makes excellent use of a proprietary FM sound chip that easily rivals the Mega Drive Phantasy Star games. Ship to Shore are also releasing part of the OST to Gun Frontier on a compilation soon, as well as the full Mega CD Snatcher OST, so one to keep an eye on (while we're at it, the ever dependable UK label Data Discs have releases of Bare Knuckle 3 and Gunstar Heroes plus who knows what else on the way for fans of YM2612 fuckery. Wonder if they'll release Alien Soldier?)

Carla Dal Forno - You Know What It's Like - Creepy witchy echoing atmos on Blackest Ever Black.

Throbbing Gristle - Greatest Hits - One of the greatest post pub albums ever it turns out. ENTERTAINMENT THRU PAIN xxxx

Merzbow - Kakapo - Not always down with the 'Bow, but when you get a slab of noodling noise AND you get to fund the conservation of a cute parrot thing it's pretty hard to say no

Cursed - III - I forgot I don't like Cursed :(

Darkthrone - Total Seath - Reviewing Darkthrone records is stupid. Grainy inverted cross/10

I didn't even know music as good as Linkin Park was possible.

Uh, no? What's wrong? Too many BPM? Too loud?

That is the most legitimate explanation for that kind of foot-speed I've heard so far. Half the time the drummer is only using one foot too LOL

Too much shallowsighted teenage angst and unoriginal mixture of the worst pop music tropes from both metal and hiphop.

If loud teenage music with many BPMz is what you're looking for, here's some stuff to listen to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW1DIcGqOAQ

Synthwave from Belarus, very interesting use of guitars.

Diggin' these kids lately.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Saw Killing Joke live last week, for the second time ever, and have been digging up all my favourite albums by them.

Not big on rock music in general, but these guys are one of my favourite bands ever - most people probably think of Love Like Blood, and possibly Eighties, when talking about Killing Joke, but they have been consistently outputting great stuff for the past 36 years!
I'm especially a big fan of their 2003 self titled "comeback" album and everything they have released since, sporting a really aggressive and heavy, almost Motorhead-like sound, without ever going all the way into heavy metal territory, which I'm thankful for. Instead they are maintaining the classic angry, mechanical industrial-like drum beat, Geordie's ridicolously souped up postpunk guitar and Jaz Coleman's distinctively British vocals.

This is fucking rock and roll

Been enjoying a small Metallica revisit. Pared down Garage Inc's second disc (ditched Misfits+Motorhead covers, basically - I love all three bands, but can't stand these particular covers) for a shorter punchier set, and have found commuting much more pleasurable! I've been working on this solo for the last two weeks (so I've been listening to it over and over and over LOL), finally starting to get it down. Definitely fun rising up to the challenge!

Revisiting it, yeah, Linkin Park kinda sucks. Saliva is pretty cool, though.

Didn't realise they were recording! I was dubious with Jim having left (again) but didn't realise Keeley Davis has replaced him in the band not just for the tours, should help stop it being the Omar/Cedric vanity wig-out project. Sounds promising from that track.

well the new song definitely gave me hope. I saw them live this year in Chicago and was a bit bored to be honest... and I was/am a huge ATDI fan too.
