I've had this happen one time in a total playtime of about 30 hours (and I had several other programs running in the background). I'm still not convinced it's an issue of CC, it may simply be that one of your background processes is aggressively claiming a stake on CPU time.

If you're going to determine the root cause of 57.1 FPS you need to be methodical, determine:

. CPU Type
. CPU Speed
. RAM Size
. Operating system (XP/Vista/7/8/10)
. 32 or 64 bit
. Which CCWI settings are you using TATE/YOKO, Windowed,
. Graphics card maker
. Graphics card model
. Graphics card driver
. Refresh rate of graphics card
. Does it happen in other games
. Does it happen after reboot
. How busy is your machine when idle. Use <CTRL>-<SHIFT>-<ESC> and look at performance and CPU usage.

Which algorithm does CCWI use to determine frame rate ?

it happens to me when i don't reboot the computer for a long time and it seems to happen to almost everyone (unless you reboot frequently I guess)

the same glitch was in the doujin version too

In an interesting twist of fate, I just tried this on my machine and I got 57.1. A reboot fixed it. Here are my specs:

. Intel Core Duo
. 2.2 GHz
. 3 GB RAM
. XP SP3 32
. CCWI: Windowed, Yoko
. NVIDIA, GT 610, 335.04
. Screen refresh: 60 Hz
. Fixed after reboot
. Tried to stop all applications and retried, still got 57.1. Only thing which fixed it was reboot

This is not the fault of the game. Windows is not like Linux or OSX, which can handle an uptime of months or years without a problem. You have to periodically reboot that POS Windows OS just to keep it stable.

so you're saying it's some sort of a side effect you can't prevent? because no other games ever did that for me, right now it runs at 59 fps and i haven't rebooted for like 3 days

though some people reported that the game ran at 57 fps for them after rebooting not too long ago

Ever since upgrading to an SSD, rebooting takes seconds for me now. I also upgraded from a 32bit OS to a 64bit OS if that makes any difference. I haven't experienced this glitch because my PC gets rebooted much more often now. It used to happen after my PC had been on for a couple of days just like bananamatic. I used to use sleep mode whenever I wasn't using it. I think this must be a game glitch that can be fixed.

I don't know how related it is, but back when I had 1GB of RAM, I had a similar issue (with a far worse FPS drop) on the MMO CosmicBreak and some not-so-well programmed small things I made in SDL 1.2 occasionally (but not on some small things I made in Irrlicht). It would only happen after I used a lot of RAM at once (I reboot daily), and it would only fix after a restart. I don't remember exactly how, but I came to the conclusion that the affected games didn't use the graphics card properly (maybe using system RAM for graphics or something?), though I'm not sure I fixed the issue with what I programmed (I just know that at one point, it could only get a stable 30 FPS, but I managed to make it get 60 somehow).

As far as I know, I haven't had the issue since getting 1.5GB of RAM (and therefore have never had it with Crimzon Clover), but that's probably because I restart daily, and 1.5GB of RAM gives me more room to work with (and a bigger page file, if that's relevant). I just wanted to state that this issue probably isn't exclusive to Crimzon Clover (though I don't know if it's more common than I realize, since being consistently 3 FPS below the intended isn't too noticeable without an FPS counter).

I have 16GB of ram. I don't think its the problem. I've checked task manager when this occurs, nothing is using the CPU up. It's a bug in the game.

If it was a bug in the game, why does the issue not fix itself when you restart the game ? The game does not maintain state between runs.

This is a graphics driver/windows issue.

Well then why don't other games have the same issue then? I don't understand, it may be a driver/windows issue but its probably something the game itself could avoid maybe it's using some legacy item, who knows.

Iaspis wrote:I don't know if this is a little bug or intended, but here it is anyway: if you time out Diabolos' (stage 4 Boss) first form, he goes to the next form without throwing that really hard to dodge pink bullet attack at you like the previous bosses do. Furthermore, his next form (replacing cannons) doesn't seem to time out at all (or it takes A LOT to do so).
Forgive me for bumping myself, just wanted to say that the above "bug" still happens in 1.04. The 2nd form with the replacing weaponry WILL time out after some time though, but with no "last-gasp-pink-bullet-death-attack" pattern either.
Moreover, the invisible ship glitch when restarting stage 1 training, still occurs.

Small patch update for Crimzon Clover today.

Update to version 1.04 includes:

◆Pause menu adjustment: Game music now pauses when the game is paused.
◆Additional information added to the name entry screen: Total Star Item count is displayed, as well as information relevant to the mode played: BREAK RATE MAX, BOOST COUNT, and BREAK COUNT.
◆Display settings: Added a v-sync option to the display settings when playing in full screen mode.
◆Bug correction: Bug where the game starts high res in a very small window on screens with a resolution of 1280×768 or lower corrected, the game should now start in low res mode for better compatibility with smaller resolution displays.
◆Various small fixes

Aside from the training bug already mentioned, please let me know if you find any bugs remaining after patch.

Cheers!

Not sure if this has been fixed nor not sure if i've already mentioned this, but randomly, the Stage 4 boss doesn't shoot the big blue double-lasers in that one pattern in Original mode. (I think it's first form?). You get the sound effect and laser spawning effects, but the lasers just won't come out.
And I have a gut feeling that it has something to do with pausing the game somewhere around the boss...
It's pretty rare, but worth looking at IMO.

I confirm this happening to me a couple of times too (long before the patch, though).

I'll check on status of the patch update for GOG, don't see any reason why we'd patch one platform and not another.

apparently there was a rollback on the scoreboard - yakamino had #1 in type Z boost novice and now he's back down to #3 somehow
here's screenshots of #1

Damn, that sucks. I watch yakamino's streams some times and I'm always impressed by his diligence. Hopefully they can fix that.

Was the bug with the boss of stage 2 fixed? In 1.03 GOG if you caused him to transition to his final attack phase just as he initiated that high jump offscreen, he'd come down way off to the far left offscreen and his arms would appear at unusual positions as he slowly reappeared (causing a collision with an arm if you weren't careful).

Not sure why stats/leaderboards rollback occurs with patching. Yotsubane is very concerned with players being able to compete fairly. I think it's most likely that the rollback is an unavoidable consequence of patching somehow, because Yotsubane wouldn't want players to lose track of scores.

I haven't seen the bug with Stage 2 Boss jumping in a long time, I know Yotsubane fixed a bug with that boss a few patches ago, so that might have been it.

Update on V1.04 rollout for GOG: Yotsubane noticed a small bug that had been introduced when switching from a vertical display back to a standard one. He's going to fix this up and then we'll get the revised build updated to GOG.

Crimzon Clover DLC will most likely drop in April. I'm literally working on it right now. The arranged soundtrack is nearly complete, and will soon be handed off to Yotsubane for integration into the game. I've had a look at the Superplay Demos and Yotsubane really went all out, they are quite comprehensive (maybe too much...). Getting all the commentary translated is our last major hurdle.

I realize news has been a bit spare lately. There are actually a lot of exciting announcements on the horizon, but it's one of those things where I have to wait and make sure it's *really* going to happen before I announce anything. Keep your eyes on this thread or the @degigames twitter channel, I try to post updates whenever I can.

Sounds very exciting. Thanks for the update!
I don't think anyone minds content that is too comprehensive. ;)

Are the superplays in-game demos or separate videos played outside of the application? I suppose it must be the latter unless Yotsubane has a secret database of everyone's replays. :)
