I might have to play this some more. I like a well-implemented reflect mechanic. Also couldn't avoid the homing lasers without reflecting.

ACSeraph - Raiden III - Stage 3 - 3,690,480

Super-fast bullets plus super-slow ship speed completely ruin this game for me. I hate that too, because the atmosphere is great; I'd almost certainly love it if the ship was just a bit more maneuverable. Even the original Raiden doesn't feel this sluggish...

BTW Captain, you forgot to put in the opening post that you can only try once every 12 hours.

You have to quickly move in a figure 8 to avoid them, while not running into all the other shit on screen in the process. It's difficult, but doable.

ACSeraph - Triggerheart Exelica (DC) - Arrange Mode - Exelica - Auto-off - Stage 5 - 24,935,749 - 2C

Triggerheart with 3x the bullets!? Sign me up!

Seriously though how do you even score in this? If it had actually given me any extends I probably would have cleared it.

---

I spent last night cataloging all of the shmups I own to create my own randomizer that will also randomize versions and modes, so I should start getting some unusual stuff that doesn't show up in the normal randomizer. Took forever though, I own way too much shit. After dissecting the entries by mode I ended up with like 300...

So is no one participating in this except me and LordHypnos now? People need to come and get in on some of this glorious random action.

Also, I definately need to echo the more people should join sentiment. SRSLY GUYS, THIS IS FUN TIMES, JOIN US! LAUGH, CRY, RAGE, ETC!

I'm late I know, but thought I'd throw out a dot eater credit:

CSF - Ikaruga (Dot Eater) - 238,000 - Stage 2

I really thought I could beat stage 2, but I made two really stupid polarity mistakes. Oh well.

ACSeraph - Darius Twin (SFC) - ABCEGJL - Stage 7 - 2,433,300 - 4C

Why oh why does the most fair game system in the entire series have to be squandered on this mediocre game!? Darius Force would have been so godly if it had taken Twin's stance on checkpoints and recovery. /beyondsadface

Also wtf at the balance, it's incredibly easy and them BAM, have all the midbosses gang-rape you at the same time in the final stage, with no shield powerups because Twin suddenly remembered it was a Darius game so fuck you Proco!

It is a bit on the complicated side, I'll admit, but basically, you get one credit for each game played (after you've posted your score). Provided you have credits, you can spend 1 credit to try again at a game (from the beginning of course), 5 to reroll (i.e if you don't want to play the game that you rolled), and some other number (can't remember, 50 maybe?) to force everyone else who's actively playing to play a game of your choice (you can ask them to play in a specific way, if you want, like a pacifist run, no auto, or something). Finally, You are allowed a free credit if you lose all lives in stage 1 to try again (not sure if you can keep doing it until you do make it to stage 2, but I think not).

Basic example of this is: Suppose I roll Truxton. I lose all my lives in the first stage, I can, without punishment retry the stage (no credits lost). Then I make it to stage 2 (not likely for me in Truxton), but I think I can do better (Which is, of course, unlikely, in the case of Truxton). First thing is: Do I have any credits? Say I have 2 Credits (I do, ATM), I can use one to play again in hopes of getting to level 3 or a higher score or whatever. Now I only have 1 credit. Once I've posted my score up on this thread, I have 2 credits again. On the other hand, If I didn't decide to play Truxton again, I'll have 3 credits once I've upped my score.

Did that help at all, or have I made it more confusing?

As of the latest rules update, you should keep track of your own credit count, and add it to any post. What Seraph and I have been doing is adding it at the end of the score line like so:
Weak Boson - Wyvern Wings - Hellhound -1-3 - 264,500 - 1C
I think this is a good system

Did I...? I have used 1 credit since the reset >_>
also as a note: next game I'm playing is Fast Striker 1.5 Maniac mode (added to my list a long with a few other alternate modes. Maniac mode is fairly different because in addition to harder / more bullets, it also has a completely different scoring system (enemy chaining) and different ship (shot and speed). It might also have some differences in enemies, but I don't really remeber.

EDIT: Was rereading the first post, and you said that if you die in the first stage you can use a credit for free. Do you mean just one life lost, or do you mean actually losing all your lives death? Possibly a stupid question

Lord Hypnos - Fast Striker 1.5 - Maniac Mode - Stage 3 - 320,962,610 - 4C

A lot further than I thought considering I have only played this mode like 2 other times. It seems like the enemy placement is the same or basically the same, but we're still dealing with different ship speed and shot properties, as well as a completely different scoring system. Also the enemies are way more colorful (in original only the bullets are), kind of refreshing for such a dark game (makes me wonder, though, why they only did this in Maniac, unless Maniac is actually DC exclusive like Omake).

What do you guys think? should I keep this mode as an "alternate mode" in my list? It's definately not like an almost completely different game like Mars Matrix Arrange Mode A (actually, it has the opposite things different: MMAA has different enemy placement, and different enemies altogether, but the same ships and scoring systems)

Yeah, I know right? And people complain about the Radiant Silvergun ship being too slow. Raiden III is like "Is my focus button stuck or something?".

The final boss is an asshole though, on a totally different level from anything else in the game, so don't feel bad about getting wasted there.

It's really up to you, some of the different entries in my list are just different console ports of the same game.

Definitely gives you that feeling. A sluggish ship speed seems to be common in Moss games, but in Caladrius for example the bullets are slow enough that it all sort of works out. Raiden III feels like trying to play Strikers 1942 with the biplane from Hishouzame.

Saddest part is if you made the ship 1.5-2x faster Raiden III would suddenly become a godly game.

Holy shit I just threw that clear directly in the trash. That right thar^ is the final boss' final attack, and diptshit me had two bombs in stock when I got splattered there.
