I'm gonna give slash a chance but origin/climax isn't really doing it for me...I'll put a little more effort into it but I think the energy would be better spent continuing my work on DOJBL.
1CC ListTo miss is human; to rank control, divine.
All week Its been too warm over here to fully concentrate on shmups, so i've been given them a miss. Played some Futari Original Palm AB tonight and managed to finally beat it on my 4th run. I had a full stock of lives at the start of st5 and managed to beat it with 3 lives remaining
I'll start getting my PC ready for Game of the Month tomorrow
Beat Subterranean Animism on Lunatic without bombs. I guess that's worth something even if it did take quite a lot of attempts.
And hey! A no-miss no-bomb run of DOJBL 2-5 and a 2-miss/buncha bombs clear of the final boss including the TLB. If only I could play this well in a real run.
DFK never clicked with me, there's something about the focus on bullet canceling that I don't like. Still, 2-ALL is amazing, I can't even imagine facing down a boss like hibachi.
Also, I cleared EspGaluda. Been playing that too on and off for about a year.
I sat down for a casual round of Donpachi and wound up clearing it. It was pretty unexpected since I'd never even made it to the last boss on one credit before.
I'm not even going to bother posting in the high score thread because I was only going for the clear and the score's pretty pathetic.
It took me a couple years of on again off again practice to clear DDP, but this only took about 30 or so total credits over a few months.
No missed to Stage 4 with all 3 extends. Caught so much hell on the Stage 4 boss but managed to survive. Passed the first 3 mid bosses (thankfully I remembered some of the DDP boss patterns) on Stage 5 and got put down shortly thereafter.
Forgot how awesome this game is. I'm not going to learn how to chain, but it's fun either way!

I know, that's the beauty of DOJ. Chaining is also fun (what little I've done), but its top notch for survival too. I'm a little disappointed it didn't get chosen for STGT, as it would have prompted me to work on my other stage chains...
Agreed, every stage in DOJ is brilliantly designed, even from my perspective of struggling to get a half decent chain going. Stage 5 is one of the all time best, compete mayhem from the opening enemies. The mini boss rush, while fairly easy, is a total blast.

You know, I think most of Jakou's attacks are harder than his very last one, it's just that you can't bomb him to death so it seems difficult. I don't think I've ever actually managed to get through his 2nd and 3rd attacks in his 3rd form without falling back on kakusei and bombing. Also, his 2nd form 2nd attack is extremely nasty.

The one where he goes into the female form and eventually fires aimed circles with a wide, fast-moving rotating spray? Yeah, that one's just nasty, always need a bomb or lots of kakusei to survive it. His final attack's honestly overrated in terms of difficulty, the bullets move so slow that once you know not to bomb him directly it's really just a matter of confidently moving between the bullets. It looks scarier than it is.
1-Alled DOJ BL again w/type A-EXY, maybe for the 5th-6th time, still no second loop though.
Final boss in Galuda never really bothered me, except for that last pattern which I was stuck on for an unreasonably long time. Eventually figured it out

Cleared Mushihimesama Futari BL on maniac. Not sure how much I really want to play it beyond the 1CC, the scoring mechanic was kind of boring IMHO and forcing survival players to do some milking for the extends isn't cool.
