The future of Cave
Re: The future of Cave
Even when playing for score Futari BL is still pretty easy. God is the only mode that took me more than 2 weeks to get a good score lol

Same here.Drachenherz wrote:How did you play BL original? I managed to 1cc BL Original ONCE, and then never again...Estebang wrote:Futari BL is the only shmup I've 1CCed on my first try. (No, I wasn't on God.)
Because I can't stop playing for score. As soon as you jack up the gem count and point blank those buggers like a maniac, difficulty definitely increases.
Hmm... Althoug it is against my principles, I have to try to 1cc it again, leaving the gem-counter as low as possible. Because at my current playstyle of BL, I reach Stage 5 regularly, but it's difficult to even get to larsa, yet alone beat her.
As soon as I get past the Stage 3 midboss, I have to start playing against the rank and hoping for difficult spots to come up so I can have an excuse to bomb so that I can lower the rank keep the game from getting out of hand.
Re: The future of Cave
It really isn't that difficult to balance scoring/survival play in BL Original. Assuming you're playing as Reco the trick is to just focus on getting your options to latch onto enemies and get gems that way as opposed to just regular point-blanking everything in sight.

*Looks at calendar* Theres 2011 written on it, not 2005It’s important that more 360 exclusive titles arrive on the system. In the way I look at it, games and hardware have to be thought of together, so for hardware to be successful you have to develop games. While Xbox 360 is very popular internationally, it’s not as popular in Japan at the moment. I think things can change if there are more exclusive titles from Cave and other developers for the system.

Re: The future of Cave
I actually have a lot of fun in BL original for one reason: My gf has called the Rico scoreboard. She doesn't want me to puch all of her scores off the table, so in 1.5 orig and BL orig I can only play as Palm.Gus wrote:It really isn't that difficult to balance scoring/survival play in BL Original. I'm totally ok with that, as BL original is a lot of fun with Palm.

in 2012 cave will probably focus mainly on cellphone platform to release their games.
Re: The future of Cave
Yeah, I would not be shocked if Cave didn't release a single console or arcade game in 2012, and the Vita shooter was their only non-phone release.
How would we all react if the Vita took over from the 360 as the new console du jour of shmups, anyway? It's a definite possibility, what with handhelds dominating the Japanese game market.

I wonder how good that Ketsui keyboard is for games. Nice pictures, F-man.

Re: The future of Cave

Don't worry. If there are Death Smiles hentai doujinshi, then someone will surely make a Ketsui keyboard. There already is a Rubik cube.BPzeBanshee wrote:Fudoh wrote:they didn't sell the keyboard, just the Kestui cube keyboard stickers...

I so want that Ketsui rubiks cube. I might actually start speedsolving again with that beauty.

I have no idea why they don't put that shit up on their online shop. Call it a "limited" offer or something. Do they hate making money?

With something like Instant Brain?Bananamatic wrote:A company that likes making money would've moved on from a dead genre like that in the first placeGus wrote:I have no idea why they don't put that shit up on their online shop. Call it a "limited" offer or something. Do they hate making money?
Although I guess its a little late in the game. I dunno, I can't think of any other developer that could put such value to stickers and suction cups.
Re: The future of Cave
They better be good for the price they were selling those. Everything looks too overpriced if you ask me... I mean, you can tell they are milking the fans for all they are worth. From here to pachinkos and lesbian h-manga with Ibara/Death Smiles characters it's just a step.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Keyboard stickers are so lame
I'm surprised there weren't any ship model kits and that kind of stuff people would buy in an instant. Who wants a Hibachi on flames decorating the house? (Or setting the house on fire?)
I think we might see another SH3 game next year. Like someone else said, they are going to get rid of the remaining boards one way or the other. Next projects will probably be on pseudo-PCs ala Taito TypeX. Things will surely get so close for comfort that the Earth will crash into the sun!
That's the positive future I see. The negative future is they turn into a silly non-H VN company and sink miserably. Tits and pussy, CAVE. That's what sells! And you are selling it on the wrong platform, dammit!
edit: the above text doesn't make much sense and was fuelled by many (MANY) cups of coffee. Attempts at being serious business failed completely.

Re: The future of Cave
The smartphones would suggest otherwise. Instant Brain is just an experiment. The negative future is they turn into a silly non-H VN company
A more realistic worst-case scenario is Cave doomed to churning out endless social games and Angry Birds/Cut the Rope clones, or at least heavily toned down and casual-friendly touchscreen shmups.
Why haven't they done a smartphone Uo Poko yet?

Well... Key is a very succesful company as well as many other that makes non-H VN... Umineko has been one of the best sold Sound Novel (Although I group it with the VN's) of all times...Observer wrote:That's the positive future I see. But wasn't this a "let's cry for the death of Cave's shmups" thread? So why must we think in a way to let then survive? It's better to let then sink and then, people inside the company who are interested on shmups will work on other companies or start Toaplan III "Tomorrow Never Dies"
I think this would be the BEST outcome... at least for us

Re: The future of Cave

I have seen the future and it is apparently mousepads with large silicone wrist rests
Knowing CAVE I'm willing to bet that the wrist rest on the Follet mousepad is more substantial than the Windia mousepad

@ Anti-Fritz:
Usually, slutty and onee-sama characters aren't as nearly as popular to the loli and innocent types... just think about japan and their ppermanent pedophylia

Re: The future of Cave
Windia was 13 in 2007, so she's 17 now. The boobs are totally legit!
I do love the idea of cushion hierarchy from Casper to Rosa, though, I think Cave could have been onto a nice marketing trick there.
