Well I made it 55 seconds through that video. Anyone beat me?

RE Persona 5: I've got nothing against Persona but seriously: we've got a new numbered SMT on the way and Soul Hackers at the moment. Also, the four people who own Wii Us will have that strategy game thing pretty soon. I don't think I'll want to see another digital devil for a long time after this year (maybe)

I watched the whole thing. Awful, awful narration, but the actual content was pretty good. Interviews and stuff I hadn't seen yet.

I rather enjoyed the absurdity, but certainly it was hard to watch.

Not as rough as getting through Last Bible 2 in 2012.

I really liked the weather girl HNK had a couple years ago. It was the mellowest recitation of global weather concerns ever. So mellow and seep inducing.

A little speculation: On the ps2, once Atlus had developed their 3D models, they went crazy pumping out games (similar to the way 2D fighting games recycle sprites), making the ps2 ultimately one of the best consoles for SMT. Nocturne, DDS, Persona 3 & 4, Devil Summer (Soulless army, King Abaddon) all ultimately recycle models, and there is a sensible efficiency behind Atlus's choice to push out so many titles for this system.

I bring this up because here comes SMT4, and although the models aren't in 3D, we have all new sprites for this game. Maybe I am being selfish, but I'm hoping that brand new sprites = commitment to releasing several SMT titles for the 3DS which will probably be my main console until Dark Souls 3 comes out :)

Aren't most of the sprites from Strange Journey? They have a LOT more on screen for sure, though.

Kinda hard to say since I don't have the game at hand, but I've read the demon's have animations now (something not true of Strange Journey or Soul Hackers) so I'm hoping Atlus feel like they have an investment in this console.

It's just more photoshoop puppet animation. You can see it in action from these gameplay vids.

Skull Knight, Cosmic Maintenance Man: "So I hear you've been having some problems with your universe? Has anything strange been going on?"

Kurono: "You mean besides putting on this rubber suit, and running around fighting aliens?"

Skull Knight: "Yeah, besides that."

(I was hoping for aliens instead of the old pokemon in Strange Journey. A "now for something completely different" kind of thing. My disappointment knew no bounds.)

I did not remember that. Maybe when the dust has settled on SMT4 I'll go back and check it out. SJ is a great game, but there were a few things about it that rubbed me the wrong way.

As an aside, absolutely loving Soul Hackers. Love how truly fast paced the game is for a dungeon crawler.

About ten minutes' worth of video, which seems to show, among other things, that your main character getting KOed no longer means an automatic Game Over.

If nothing else it seems SMT4 did pretty well sales-wise its first week out in Japan.

That's pretty good. Looks like it got more sales than Nocturne's, which at least means the interest in the main series has grown. :)

Due to life and stuff getting in the way i've yet to start, though i have it sitting my 3DS XL.

I can see my line feed going crazy though - the guys i know who have started it are really loving it, seems to be something about scents that can be picked up from other players via street passes that add abilities? I guess i'll find out soon enough

I started playing - sooooo good.

The conversations to capture monsters with are brilliant and the game is set a good difficulty, lots of interesting chat and , for people interested in learning Japanese, furigana though there's a good smattering of "WHO ART THOU?" style japanese in there.

Art and music is so so good.

Pretty much <3 <3 <3 so far.

i'm pretty sure atlus would have gone down the path of dlc anyways

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

Yup but as always they milk it up too much IMO. You know all this sort of stuff like dlc armors, weapons and so on just to boost our status sounds more like a free2play game, but instead of being free you've to pay for the game.
Lets see how it works.

I loved when in Nocturne I had to pay to get the Seraphims in my party.
Oh wait.
No seriously, I've heard some demons require DLC too. Eff that.

I'm getting the game beyond shadow of a doubt, but that crap is pathetic.

If there's enough to mess around with in the base game (is there a hard number out there as to how many of the 400-ish demons are DLC-only?) and the challenge level is balanced enough to not require the extra "easy level up" areas and outfits to reasonably keep up with (Atlus has said its DLC aim is at less-experienced newcomers, though we'll hafta see) I won't complain too much, but yeah, there is a part of me that's still sad to see it happen even if it's not all that hard to ignore.
