Yeah, still wondering about this, myself.1up wrote:was it ever decided if they would leave out region lock this time? I remember reading an interview where cave stated that they were aware of the "outside" interest in their games. I think this was a respond to the event where you could mail them what game you would like to see.

Most of the individual releases are around $30 themselves. What if Hideki Naganuma wants dinner? What if Takeshi Abo suddenly wants mochi without prying it from the loving hands of a housewife in Matsushima? I take it you've never imported a game soundtrack before.
Actually the full LE comes with two faceplate stickers and a telecard. (which I'll be getting courtesy of EOJ

so they're only stickers and not actual faceplates? that kinda stinks, but it explains why the LE from cave doesn't cost any more than the LE from elsewhere. hopefully someone will be nice enough to scan them when they come out.Elixir wrote:Actually the full LE comes with two faceplate stickers

Isn't TGS over yet? Has the region been decided?

It's probably a slim to nil chance, but I'm really really hoping that this game goes Region Free. I'm also hoping that if that becomes the case, they get a noticeable boost in sales so they'll consider doing that with more shmups in the future

I've got money set aside just in case this does end up being region-free. If not, well, I'm very strongly considering importing a 360-J for this.

Can someone translate the entry for today? I used google translator, but it's so butchered I can't understand it at all. They do mention Mushi Futari though and he says 2 multiples times about something. Hopefully that's in regards to the region...

I think this blog entry is split into two phases. The first talks about Junya Inoue doing the art for some upcoming (?) Death Smiles Drama CD (drama means "not worth bothering with"), the second part talks about Tokyo Game Show 2009 and the available modes to play at the Futari 1.5 booth. Xbox 360, Arcade, Novice and Arrange. Stuff about Famitsu Xbox 360 covering Futari next month too.
My Japanese is currently shit tier, but I don't think there's anything about regions in there.

My Japanese is even more shit-tier than Elixir's, so I BabelFish'd the page, and didn't see anything involving regions, either.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 announced.
Oh well it was worth a shot anyway
Needless to say, I've been looking forward to hearing news about this. I wish google translator didn't turn the page into a bunch of words that require just as much translation as the language it was originally in >_>

Eh, if there was a mention of the region I think that probably would translate a bit better than the rest of the page.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 announced.
We went through an entire generation of Japanese PS2 shmups with pretty much every release filling up the forum with "I hope this one won't be region locked!" posts. I'm not saying a j-360 is cheap, but come on people. Most of these games are never coming stateside unless they have "raiden" in the title. That's just the way it's always been. Maybe we should splinter off a separate "Region-Free Discussions" page like Hardware or Trading Station.

We are holding the secret power of shmups.
Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 announced.
There is no such thing as region free PS2 games... so at least the forum got less stupid over time, a good thing.

It is still supprising to find region locks on games that most likely will never be released outside of japan. Region locking can surely only reduce sales. Unless making a disk region free costs more, which is fairly unlikely.
I do on the otherhand now have access to a j-Xbox 360, and should be ordering this when I have the spare cash.

I do not know, but it may represents extra costs:Reaper gI wrote:Region locking can surely only reduce sales. Unless making a disk region free costs more, which is fairly unlikely.
- maybe licensing is higher
- maybe additional certification is required (for the extra markets), which will cost money
Also, there is the expectation of some western publisher to pick the title to release on its territory. Letting the game to be region free hurts the possibility of such deal.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 announced.
Yeah, but just how often do western publishers decide to release games from a niche genre in lieu of popular genres that are at least guaranteed to be somewhat lucrative? Pretty much never :V
Either way, I'm certain I won't rest until I get my hands on this, even if it means I have to import a 360 for it. At least if I do, that opens up my opportunities to pick up DeathSmiles, Ketsui, ESPGaluda II and whatever other shmups CAVE decides to port-- all games I'd love to play, but not enough to make me want to drop the money to import a new console. Mushi Futari has me sold, though.

Re: [X360] Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 announced.
the funny thing is almost all USA 360 games are NOT region locked.... I own just an import 360 and have only come across a handful of locked games.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
