At work, I'm playing dodonpachi on Mame cabinet, still trying to beat my friends record of 56 million (yes, we suck.)

At home, I'll be playing my brand new copies of Dodonpachi Resurrection and Deathsmiles, and little bit of Viper Phase 1 PCB on my arcade cabinet.

This is going to be a good weekend.

I'm going to have access to Futari Original at a shmupmeet pretty soon. Time to do the impossible. Let's see if I can make Stage 5 since I am just so insanely lucky.

Also I'm going to try Dragon Blaze today at 1.5x speed and hardest setting just for shits and giggles. This might be fun.

You think you've had it bad? I played Radio Zonde for an hour straight today. Managed to beat Stage 7, but ended up feeling very derpressed.

Continue credit feeding on normal in Gradius Gaiden. Now up to Fate part 2 intro, but what's killing me often is both Moai stage and last boss from the Black Hole Stage. Dunno why but I just keep getting hit by unnoticeable rocks >_>

Recorded my first .inp, and it's pretty close to my current DB score. Link is here. Should work on shmupmame v2.

Terra Diver, the PS1 version [my lack of Saturn/machine capable of Saturn emulation is a bother]. Tons of fun.
Took me ages to realize that select brought up the options menu.

EDIT:
also, I thought I mentioned it, but the soundtrack is amazing

A lot of shmups... perhaps too many.
Think i'll lay off Ketsui for a while and get serious with Daifukkatsu Black Label.
I want that western score.

Good luck, man. You can do it, you're the Futari master!

I popped in a few credits of Ketsui today and did surprisingly well, NBND'ing the first half of 1-5 on my first run in almost a year. Fun game, might try it after I kick Dragon Blaze's ass some more.

So you mean the whole thing? Cause I think TLB Larsa is probably harder than the dragon part.

Just the first boss. I've been doing pretty well against it lately but TLB is still beyond me.

Wow, that is really impressive. Out of curiosity, do you think your route could be adapted for use with Aine, or is it Katana-only? There was a time when I tried to get by with a two-bomb strategy (more or less plagiarized from Wednesday's run), but I eventually decided it was too finicky and inconsistent in my hands.
Klatrymadon wrote:I coulda swore I watched you clear Image Fight (in preparation for my own run), and even run through the penalty stage in a separate video, but I can't find either of these on the Tube any more. Am I going barmy?
Sorry for taking so long to reply; I somehow overlooked your post! I went ahead and took those videos down after deciding to work on a better run. I'll try to record and share something fairly soon, but here's my older run in case you're still interested: .inp, required MAME version

Terra Diver, getting hammered by the 3rd boss's flamethrower attack. I can almost no-miss up until here, and then I get slaughtered.

Well, Daisenpuu has kind of became a grind so I'm taking off from it. TwinBee kind of lost my interest as well, even though I said I would beat the western record. I still will, someday! (shrug)

Anyway I've moved on to Guwange thanks to the sale on XBL going on this week. It's cool! Never could arse myself to get to know it in Mame, I dunno, it just looks weird in MAME. Does anyone agree? Trying Arcade mode.

I've been playing MMP off and on... st4 boss, ugh. Starting with st4 I find the game to be fairly difficulty, though it doesnt feel impossible yet. I have a lot of total recall "what the fuck did i do wrong!!" moments with this game though, bullets getting hidden by waves of pork gold...

The arcade version of Parodius Da, again.

Except this time, I'm beating it. I've spent the past week picking apart the rank system, and it's paying off.

Back to DDP, somehow. I've been playing a few credits of A-S at work each day and some scoring stuff is starting to make a little more sense, just feeling a lot more on top of the game in general. I keep choking around stage 5 and haven't got the A-S 1-all yet, I need to double check what the loop requirements are as entering it is my main goal.

Played Gradius Gaiden tonight and what a night. Made it to Stage 9 on one credit up to the moving wall section with Falchion Beta. Those walls, they're a bitch to go through.

Sanvein. Great fun, but I hate how the aiming is, feels way too slow for a game where you fight against the clock.

Wow, the Metro town arcade finally has some games that are actually decent: Raiden IV and Metal Slug 6. However I could not play the latter because of it's pitiful placement:

Also, the monitor for Raiden IV is HUUUUUUGE I don't know if practicing with the 360 port would be of any help since I was looking almost straight up the whole time.
